I think that's something everyone should have to do before they get a license. Especially in Canada. I love winter it's drift season but most people can't even use there blinker correctly here let alone hold a drift.
Well I sure could have bloody used it two years ago. Nothing serious at all, I just spun out in the snow. But if I had been taught how to keep a car stable, that wouldn’t have happened. I have to learn that by myself. Even though the driving safety training included a skid track like the one in the video (well, barely a fraction of the size), I was only allowed to have one go, and that was more to know how quickly my car could drive around in circles without spinning out.
I tried drifting my grandmothers front wheel drive Chevy Cavalier wagon on gravel country roads when I was 16. It took some time but I finally did it. I also used to do donuts in my Pontiac Fiero in the snow. James May learned to do this in a big Mercedes in Finland. This looks like a lot of fun. I would love the chance to do this some day. Thanks.
I desperately want to learn to four wheel drift on loose surfaces, but I’m too precious about my car… XD Although… my best friend has a Peugeot about which he is anything but… hmmmmm
@@heneedsomemilk2877 I beg to differ, his driving in a straight line was perfectly fine. It was the curve after the finish line that got him in the Rimmac. If only he knew how to drift then, that whole accident could've been avoided.
Almost none of the cars driven in Michelin Ladoux test track are stock... as far as can I remember the only unmodified cars are the supercars and the F1s. All the rest is modified for the specific tyre tests. ( and some of the past modifications were weird [ cue : The Centipede ] )
Would you like some lessons on drifting? 😎
Grand tour likes their own comments
Not from Hammond. Didn’t he drift off a cliff!?
Hell yeah!
Sure
If you have the right car it can almost drift by itself. But you must be in tune with your car and have good instinct
Making a drift instructor sick is an accomplishment in itself
Nah... It's very easy. I'm sure I could make a drift instructor sick, lol
Congrats Hammond! You didn't need to have your trousers cut off after a skid!
he literally learned to drift like a professional from 2005 D1 grand prix champion yasuyuki kazama back on top gear
That was before his major accident (the dragster accident, in case anyone doesn't know which accident I meant). Maybe that wiped out his memory of it.
@@englishatheart lol
Good car!
Good car!
@@heneedsomemilk2877 I don't get why that's funny, I was being serious. He lost some of his memory after the dragster accident.

Powersliding is half the fun of winter driving!

I love putting my truck in 2wd and giving it a solid punch in the winter. Never break the 25mph speed limit.
Yup, one of the fun things to do in Canada on winter. Miss my RWD car for that reason.
Well its $700 for basic driving courses so i dont want to imagine what a drifting session would cost
Richard did a number on his instructor. Great job! LOL
This instructor has the best job in the world😝🇿🇦

RWD bimmers are great for drifting.
If you're into that sort of thing.
I guess u own an e46?
Love that GT3 RS seats in the M4 haha
I’d like to see Hammond drift a Rimac..
I don't think he's allowed anywhere near a rimac 😂😂
@@MihirMohanty1 some say it's rimac's (the car's fault), some say its because Richard got sudden microsleep, but nobody knows the truth
He did. Just very briefly
Lol that’s fu@ked up😂
(Softly) Don't
The face of the instructor 👌🏼 😂 😂
It's a very natural reaction to Hammond's drifting there 😅
Drifting is an art 🔥
This is the stuff I live for man
honesty, integrity, loyalty, fidelity, DRIFTING!!!
I mean, that’s a concise list.
Why does this have real old school Top Gear feel to it?
Think it’s the graphics and filming style!!
Well done, Hamster!
Love it... You made the Frenchman Upchuck... ROFLMAO
drifting is art
omgawdd - ‘you will want to sit more close to the steering wheel’ /‘what are you trying to say?’
1:00 richard trying not to laugh at his accent.
He's think "You cheese eating surrender monkey" in Clarkson's voice.
Drifting wasn't on my list of things I look for in a man! I'mma add that now😂 Looks fun! If you don't make the cut, blame Hammond 😛
That m4 is just stunning
The RS 3.8 seat was nice 🤙🏽😬
Not bad Richard 😂🙌🏻
Why does he need to drift? He was already a driving God in 2003.
Yes haha I remember that from watching that episode a few weeks ago
@@manveerghuman5276 I AM A DRIVING GOD!!!

@@LewisWanjia Yep😂😂
Fabulous and exciting footage With Richards fab voice over
Congratulations Mr Hammond...now i also need to learn how to do that
This was every guy in Sweden with their Volvo 240/740 during winter 30 years ago.
Be careful, drfting is an infection and it may hurt your driving in a straight line.
His straight line driving was hurt already

Jerome is so calm
The Hamster dealt payback for the short joke. I hope the German enjoyed tasting his breakfast. Bazinga
Huge Michelin fan for decades.
I just love this M4
Hamilton driving like an way above average bmw driver lol
What you mean by you comment
you spelt verstappen wrong mate 🤣🤣🤣
Imagine listing the season and episode for the clip. Couldn't be Amazon
So instead of Hammond, its the instructor who went back home in ambulance? Hammond you meanie.
Did anyone else think of Detroit: Become Human when the car came drifted in with the music?
They should have send the trio to Ebisu and making them buy a car for 500.000 yen and drift it
That beamer had porsche seats ?

What episode?
You can find this moment in Season 1 Episode 12
Yes
Weight Shifting and Tyres
I imagine Keiichi Tsuchiya would approve of this :-)
Good job hammond...it ant no easy task to do but ya got there...congrats
You can see the frustration in Jerome's face
May i pls be on another video like this, can i as a fan and drift lover get the chance to learn with u
Hammond.. he is 1 of 3 Demon King in engine world.. 😄
Richard Hammond actually probaly had known how to drift prior to this video. Back in 2002 he was instructed by
Is this brand new? I don't remember this
No this is a old one in season 3 I think
the thirteenth episode of The Grand Tour's first season
@@omar894 ahhh right, thank you! Forgot about this completely
Should have brought on the drift king
Is that a Porsche driver seat into that BMW?? RS 3.8?
Cool!)
That sickly fella looks a bit like Lee Marvin
How is it drifting with Hammond if there is nothing to hit and turn the car into wreckage?
BMW triggered when noticing the Porsche RS drivers seat.
Please release early request from Pakistan
Im surprised hammond can look over the dashboard
Interesting they have Porsche seats in
Never forget women love a well executed hand brake turn
Where can i watch the episodes? I cant found them on amazon :\ only the old seasons and the specials
You missed out on money in your list.
There's a Porsche Seat in that BMW.
IF only there was someone to teach the Hamster How to NOT Crash.
How can you see where you are going ?
Soooo how do I get this job?!?
This is 10 days old?? I swear he did this before as a promotional stunt for a tyre company years ago?
i remember this episode..so,is no-one else gonna comment on the Tractor Trailer Drifting !!??
0:23 John reese is coming!
I wanted to see may drifting
How do you think he'd do? 🤔
SAMIR, YOU ARE BREAKING THE CAR!
Ahahahah 😂😂
Did he skip number 2 and go straight to the third in the beginning
Did you'll cut out the part where he crashed and exploded?
That guy is not a drifter but a tyre tester. Bring on James Deane and he will be able to teach everyone something :) regardless this video is old AF
Takumi is teaching itsuki how to drift.....
More like Bunta really
Ken Block best on the planet I've ever seen
I'm impressed he didn't roll
Why do I feel like this is going to end with a smashed BMW and an Paramedic/EMT cutting Mr.Hammond's trousers off with a pair of scissors. :>)
Impressed? I think he missed it dealing with his weak stomach. 😄
More close to the steering wheel. So what's you're gonna say?😜

Then he ended up in a drift competition on dry tarmac and only scored 2 points… 😂
To learn drifting you'll need to go to south africa tbh. Spincity
GasGasGas
I think that was on Top Gear not GT???????
You could make the argument that Richard did crash by making his sensei barf because why else would that happen?
👍
Hahaha
Yo✌
😂
All of a sudden he cant drift? Iv seen him drift for 20 years
maybe get nikita mazarpin on there
Am pro
