  • iOS AXart ChaosArp AUv3 Chaotic Midi Arpeggiator - Tutorial 1: Getting started
    apps.apple.com...
    Introducing ChaosArp, the next-level MIDI arpeggiator designed to transform your musical ideas into intricate, dynamic patterns with a unique twist. ChaosArp is not just any arpeggiator; it's a powerhouse tool that uses the same advanced algorithms as LoAdKer to modulate pitch, rhythm, velocity, and duration, creating evolving, complex but high musical patterns that breathe life into your music.
    Dive into the heart of your creativity with ChaosArp's innovative 'rhythm event' feature, which allows you to explore a variety of rhythmic modifications. From repeaters to stretchers and rests for extra space and emphasis-ChaosArp has it all. Each one of these rhythm events can be assigned to any of the 6 available slots, offering limitless possibilities.
    Fine-tune your sonic exploration with the innovative 'variance' control - which goes one step beyond the simple 'probability' control that most arpeggiators have. Adjusting this setting for either pitch or rhythm (or both) will vary the character of the generated sequences, from fairly minimalistic to completely chaotic, thus opening up a world of endless variations.
    Elevate your music production today with ChaosArp and unleash patterns that inspire!
    Features:
    - Variable rate, from 1/128 to 4 beats
    - 3 modes (up, down, up/down)
    - 1 to 4 octaves range
    - Latch mode
    - Pitch randomizer with probability and variance control and random octave
    - Rhythm event selector with probability and variance control
    - 6 assignable rhythm event slots
    - 13 rhythm event algorithms, including repeaters, stretchers, and rests
    - Repeat, stretch, and repeat rest probability controls for further customization of the rhythm event algorithms
    - Randomizable velocity and duration with variable range
    - 4 performance buttons that temporarily override the probabilities of pitch, rhythm, velocity, and duration
    - Automatable parameters

    Looks like a fun arp to play with. I definitely don’t play live, but I can imagine noodling “live” with this for hours.

    I love Arps, my favourite is the Bleass one followed by Logic Pro, but the unpredictability makes this is really interesting

      If you like of course unpredictability :)… some of the arps playing remind me of some scene presets o;the Yamaha Montage…

    Thanks for your video, This is missing a scene button…….its needs about 8 of them. This way you can capture something and recall it, especially when it gets really complex. 😉Korg Karma in the making.

    Thanks for the explanation. Very chaotic indeed. Steppolyarp still seems to be one of a kind when it comes to control of the arp.

    • @soundformore
      @soundformore  2 місяці тому +1

      Steppolyarp is good and was good, but I now prefer to use Layers from 4pockets which I helped with some of the ideas… :)

    • @saidvanhattum4397
      @saidvanhattum4397 2 місяці тому +1

      @@soundformorei thought layers was a keyboard splitter. Wich functions does it have to replace to steppolyarp? :)

    • @soundformore
      @soundformore  2 місяці тому +1

      @saidvanhattum4397 you have a powerful arpeggiator for each layer in Layers, in my view you can do much more with Layers. I pushed for layers to really work like scenes in a Montage or Kronos. You can drive an entire song arrangement with Layers. You can create as many layers you need each one with its own dedicated arpeggiator… you can even control external instruments from Layers, even external lights live via Midi events… I am proud of layers, do not need a workstation… the first version was mainly a splitter until I convinced Paul to add the arpeggiators, which he brilliantly did…

    I like some unpredictable deviations in arp, but not too big

  • @Apuat
    @Apuat 2 місяці тому +1

    This has a lot of on the fly capabilities much like Neon (even though Neon is a sequencer). How would you compare the two as far as use case strengths & weaknesses? This seems it might be better for improvisational use.

    • @soundformore
      @soundformore  2 місяці тому +1

      They are very different products. ChaosArp is just an arpeggiator with lots of options to improvise, Neon is a sequencer with more structured approach to record and drive multiple tracks. ChaosArp is an arpeggiator that can drive individually only another instrument at the same time. You cannot do really music studio recording with ChaosArp although you can incorporate it.

    • @Apuat
      @Apuat 2 місяці тому +1

      @@soundformore Thank you very much. Quite clear. Chaos will most def work for adding some spice to my advanced improvisational needs. Of course if I really wanted to record the midi generated with Chaos, I could always attach the Midi Recorder app or if I’m in a daw route it up to record midi.

    • @soundformore
      @soundformore  2 місяці тому

      @Apuat yes indeed many options

  • @bernieburnalot

    Any idea about midi mapping? What can be assigned to MIDI knobs?

    • @soundformore
      @soundformore  2 місяці тому +1

      I cannot see a midi learn option, but it exposes lots of AU parameters which you can use to control the knobs via a midi controller or other midi source
