This is a Halo: Reach montage from ASiKK, edited by SpotLiightz, entitled, "Sunlight". The gameplay is quite good, featuring a lot of sweet overkills (the one before the credits is especially sweet). There is also a really sick 2 for 1 on Zealot. The editing is quite good as well, showcasing a neat intro and lots of well done syncing. Enjoy!

Am I the only one who thinks the gameplay is mediocre but the editing was great? Everyone hated the editing but loved the gameplay for whatever reason but they're like avg.
That is the thing. Gameplay can be absolute shit but if the music and editing are great the montage is great.
This is still the best montage and I watch it to just hype myself up for any game. ABSOLUTELY KILLED THIS.

Wow guys. - Made this video 3 years ago and I check the comments today and you guys are still goin' go at it! Whether you like the editing in the video or not, the fact that I've gotten as much feedback as I have is truly unbelievable. I put this project out freshman year in high school and here I am a senior adding this intro to my portfolio together for film school! I literally owe everything I've learned to this gaming community and only hope to get better from here on out!

This has been and will always be my favorite Halo montage. The intro it perfectly done. Gives me goosebumps everytime.
Wacthing in 2020
So I added one more program that would have saved a whole lot more time. Not incorrect The encoding and rendering in after effects as well as the strain compared to a simple video editing program such as vegas or premiere is better. Kinda stupid to use After Effects as your only clip compiler. C4D is stand alone, while AE is meant for quick event edits while Vegas/Premiere are used to put finished clips from AE together to render. I can and will answer to whomever, I know what I'm talking about.
i watch this every Friday to give me motivation to play Halo: Reach :D

00:57 1st guy could possibly be looking through a sniper scope, so therefore he was not moving In a attempt for a returning snipe on the player. 00:59 guy is clearly just standing there =/. 3rd and 4th guy. Stationary shooting, no strafing? The vid seems to be made of setups where people are allowing themselves to be killed to make the star player look better, or this guy was playing really bad players. Either way this vid is way over hyped.
@pistachenoot123 Yes true montages has more editing. But which one is more creative would also depend on how the gameplay plays out, And what the montage is about, right?
My gameplay was uploaded because of a challenge, and features 2 players fighting paralell and reaching the same sprees, while the camera switches rapidly between the two. This is actually DIFFERENT than other gameplay films and a little more creative.
But theres not much that makes this montage different than a 1000 others.
@soccerboy21222 again, your just playing a game on solely on getting lucky shots...no skilled required when you you mash your buttons randomly to get a lucky shot in and gloat about it...face it, cod is one of the easiest first person shooter games out there, and your giving it a bad name by comparing it to halo...go play a real game fool
@The115boy halo bullets goes straight where you put it, cod bullets goes wherever it wants, that's why you can't noscope in CoD. it is easy to 360 and quickscope in CoD because of the target assist in CoD, Halo doesn't have target assist and that's why it's hard as fuck to quickscope or 360 in halo. Play the game before you bash it...
@The115boy Funny that you are telling someone to get a life when you are on a halo reach video. What do you just go looking up halo vids to comment on people who talk shit on cod. montages are ppl's greatest gameplay that they record, edit and show to others for bragging. its basicly random gameplay clips that make u look badass ppl dont add the parts when they die otherwise ppl would think they are noobs.......hope that answered your question :)

@soccerboy21222 the hard part about shooting enemies is that they don't die in one shot like in cod....and there are rarely and collaterals in halo because people arn't retarded and don't run the same path as each other...im sorry i diddn't know they had ladders in halo
@TheMGDCAcheivments why are people on the reach community are so into medals, does that really show what skill is in that player? Make a montage if you may but leave this one alone from your trolling because i don't see anything wrong with it, i actually like it.

wow if ths will be average then im going to amp my game. im an average plyer now and if i want to getabove that im going to have work my butt off. this guy pulled off some ridiculous shots/sprees and i think your not giving him the credit he deserves.
I personally didn't think this was all too good, and before you go raging on me think about this, all of these clips were from many different games. If we all had good editors to put them all to together it would look like this. I disliked this, sorry.
@iTriggaz Hater halo reach is just way more intensive then halo 3 thats why u got a bad time switching to it personnally Reach my favorite halo cause it has a bit of competition not like Halo 3 were i get like 2 killionaires a day
Iv'e been around the competitive side of Halo since the beginning, and if there's one thing Iv'e learned is that no matter how good you montage is edited, you just can't go clutch in Reach. Montages just aren't fun to watch anymore.
This is by far the best editing I've seen. Great choice of music. Dub step is hard to sync gameplay to. I'm willing to pay the person to make me a montage. Please direct me to a forum or email where I can get mine made as well as yours.
Whatever happened to the original montages? The ones where the up beat rock music was in sync with the montage and the fast gameplay got you pumped to play whenever you watched it? (not saying these are bad or anything)
mate, first of all New Vegas is a completely different genre, second if you suck at Halo thats coz you actually suck at FPS. If a Halo player picks up CoD they rape, if a Cod player picks up Halo they rage

@mikhailkost I agree. A: because the reach sniper is so overpowered that head shots aren't even cool anymore. B: because the majority of reach montages are suddenly all about editing, not about actual quality of clips anymore.
@HaLox4Life Well you need a program of quality such as Final Cut Studio, Adobe After Effects, Sony Vegas etc. and you have to simply know what your doing to edit something like this I edit myself I use Final Cut studio
The UA-cam user guitargodterry just uploaded this exact video (edited out the credits) and claimed it as his own... It does no real harm to anything, just thought people should know he has been doing it to a lot of montages.
the person who created this song is a nerd, great vid but i played MLG once and its not pro at all. Its a whole bunch of wanna-be's. I am not good at halo reach and i was the best player in a MLG match.....
I won't lie, the actual gameplay isn't that good, don't get me wrong it's not trash by a long shot, definitely not the best I've seen though.

How the HELL did he hit that head shot with the bloom on his sniper at 2:47??!?! That was insane! My Favorite part of the editing was the no scope on Countdown at 3:05. Amazing Montage! Encore please!

@123DizzyDj Nono, its an unbalanced playlist where players can get exterminations really easy, so that they can make montages with little effort. It's definately not full of "really good" playes :p
@GlacierCodfish I claim your film is boring -.-. but i don't think a gameplay vid is more creative than an montage. a gameplay is just recording and put it on youtube, a montage is gameplay + editing.
at the very start at around 40 the 50 seconds in, how do you get such a high frame rate for the slow motion section? because when i record on reach, the framerate is really slow.
It's fun to go back and watch some of the oldest montages people have put on here before watching some of the newer ones like this where you can see how far Montages have evolved.

EVERYONE MIGHT AS WELL PLAY HALO 3 CONSIDERING THE FACT THAT HALO 4 WILL HAVE A BATTLE RIFLE. halo reach is like a break from actual halo, more or less like a futuristic version of CoD.
most popular is the HD PvR which you can buy from around $250. There is also the Black magic which has very similar quality but i'm not sure what price the black magic is. :(
@dogolog22 Snipers are powerweapons that lets you be far away from your enemy as you kill him with a single bullet.. Scoring well with any other gun takes MUCH more skill
love this montage, but hate seeing people steal credit for it, everyone go report Guitargodterry for stealing this montage as well as others and claiming them as his own
@TheMGDCAcheivments what gametype did you get you 1000 overkills on? big team battle? look at the gametype this guy plays on. btw, most clips are sniper rifle overkills.

@TacTical383 Don't learn from films like this :p Only go for noscope as a backup solution. Get hyped and get tactical with your team. Map-peaks is key.
