The usual high quality presentation and attention to detail your subscribers have become used to. A true "Fantasy Island' Thanks Becca & Mark, for another very entertaining video.
Aw! Thanks Jim. That's nice of you. I'm keen to look at your recently posted video. Just in a whirl-wind of activity at present - even at night. I'll revert to you very soon
Hi Mark, thanks for sharing this. Great introduction to this small piece of the planet. Your commentary and personal insights are great and are bound to be appreciated by anyone thinking of visiting. Good job.
Viewing from San Francisco, California, Mark. I had heard of Lord Howe Island. I enjoyed your video and look forward to visiting there some day. I have friends who have been to Norfolk Island to paddle outrigger canoes there. A very different topology indeed. I will visit your website. Thanks for the initial introduction to this beautiful place. I have not been to the land of Oz yet, but plan to.
Thank you Roji. I very much appreciate your feedback on the recently posted video. If you come to Australia - and I hope you do - you should include a visit to Lord Howe Island. As you say, it is very different in topography than Norfolk Island. But allow (ideally) two years of planning, because accommodation can be difficult to book within a year. Thanks too for looking at my website. The site (which needs updating) is on my book “Ocean of Self - Beneath the waves of our individual selves”. That book is a treatise on consciousness and spirituality related through my decades of ocean diving and meditation. I hope it’s a book to your liking
I liked the comment about your journey to birth beginning on the island. I, too, am your age and first went there in 1970 by flying boat with my parents and siblings. My first romance occurred there, and I would love to return for an extended period of time. I felt for you passing up the latter parts of the climb. As you said, a man has to know his limitations. It's better to forgo a view than a stretcher to the hospital or worse.
@@alc6799 thank you for your nice comments. I got a laugh when you said your first ‘romance’ happened on LH. Mine was ending when I went on that 1984 trip at 30 years of age. It’s a beautiful place. We’re lucky to have this island, still so pristine, off our shores
@@shivaunwhite4549 hi Shivaun. Thanks for the nice feedback. The snorkelling is wonderful and safe. “That hill” climb was certainly harder than I expected. Enjoy your trip. I wish you an enjoyable time
Great video of an awesome island Mark, and thanks for the heads-up about needing to book accommodation 1-2 years in advance! I'm a year older than you mate and still pretty fit, but I think I would have piked well before you, on that traverse across the cliff face🤣
@@musicman53 thank you for the nice feedback and also for the sympathy and understanding regarding my attempt to climb Mt Gower. Going a slower pace might have helped. If you haven’t been there before, enjoy your experience. There are lots of other good walks/climbs to do that aren’t quite as taxing
@@Burbs1976 thank you. I tend to forget my age and just expect I can do anything I put my intentions to. I’m sure you’ll enjoy your time there. February is a good time to go

Good effort mate. A wonderful island that needs all the protection us Australians can provide. 🙂
Wow amazing! Will go there on April

The woodhen is very , very similar to the NZ woodhen, great video thanks for sharing,
@@allancron1936 thank you Allan. I wonder if anyone has ever studied a possible evolutionary connection between the two woodhens?

That woodhen reminds me of a Northern Philippines flighteless bird called 'calayan rail'. Amazing fauna.
@@pinoynation4583 maybe there is a not-too-far distant genetic connection between the birds?
@AussieSpencerSaunder Apparently they belong to the same family (rail family) of flightless birds. 🫨
