As the year winds down, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed by everything we haven’t finished or personal goals we haven't met. But what if, instead of stressing over what’s left undone, we focused on what we can do-with just 10 minutes a day?
In this video, I’m sharing how small, intentional moments can make a big difference. Whether it’s reconnecting with a hobby, boosting your wellbeing, or simply carving out a little calm in the festive chaos, those 10 minutes a day really add up - about 4 hours until the end of the year!
This could also be the first gentle step of a new habit, that you want to carry into the New Year.
Let’s explore how to make those small moments count.
    Let's keep the conversation going

I've been playing with ten-minutes-a-day projects for years. What always amazes me is that, depending on the project, ten minutes a day achieves more than seventy minutes a week.

    • @theforgottenbookshopgirl9062
      @theforgottenbookshopgirl9062  Місяць тому +1

Yes! You are so right, even in a week you'll have spent 70 minutes on a project.
And how often do we spend multiple 10 minutes a day doing something that doesn't really go anywhere and is just wasted time.
I had to actually start doing the 10-minute project to really see, what was possible. It felt so amazing to have managed to read the whole book, and it gave me a little moment of calm and joy every day.

Very nice. I do 10 mins of piano as a beginner at 70. I just started sewing again, and the machine has to always be out. 😊

Love this! You won't believe it, but I'm trying to do the same, play the piano for 5-10 minutes a day and I am a self taught beginner. I got out of it a little, but you have inspired me to find a way to get back into it. I am no good at playing, but I love it so much.

I appreciate how calming and conversational your filming style is! Finally, a video about something other than grabbing my attention with many constant pop-ups on screen as the person is talking! Watching this video, I felt like I was in the room with you, and you shared an insight... Really cool! I just subscribed to your channel.

I have to say, I find some videos really exhausting, because of the constant pop-ups and everything else that is going on, even if I am really interested in what the person is trying to say.
However, the video just happened to be the way it is, but I think I felt like I was in a room with a friend, and I was just sharing this idea with them.
      Thank you!

It's funny because I hadn't heard of this but I've been putting something very similar into practice for several months now. My spare bedroom is absolutely horrendous. You'd have to see it to believe it and seems completely impossible to clear. However, I've been doing some sorting for short periods often - most days - and I've almost emptied a humungous box full of stuff, managed to move it out of the way and finally reached half a cupboard. Cleared that one side and ready to store things I've been keeping in boxes and from there on should get a lot easier.
I really like the sewing idea as I've always got a pile of mending and making to complete, but never seem to find the time. It's hand sewing, so I don't have to set anything up, so that's something else I'll consider. Thank you so much for this great advice as it's given me new heart to continue and do other things. I need a list! :)

Oh wow! You have really inspired me now, because I have so many chaotic corners and can find it absolutely overwhelming to get started. Especially, as a lot of things don't have a "home", so I need to come up with ideas for new "homes".
It also helps me to just start in one corner and work my way around - even when it comes to tidying the kitchen for example.
Dealing with the mess in my house, is one of my big goals for this winter, but I wanted to get the little bit of sewing in first of all. I have a huge box of clothes that need mending or altering and I sooooo want to wear them. I used to sew a lot of my own clothes about a million years ago.
Absolutely, sewing by hand does not take much time to set up, I was thinking of this as an alternative, when I feel less energetic, just grab the next item from the box and mend it for 10 minutes.
How about a list notebook/journal to keep it all in one place?

@@theforgottenbookshopgirl9062 I know exactly what you mean. I have so much to sort out. And don't get me started on my studio corner as I can't even find one little bit of space on my workbench or around it. Yes, a list book is a great idea. I love making lists and used to write down Things To Do, but making ones for specific areas will be even better. :)

@@DevonExplorerthe List Book is really good to keep handy for when you have a thought about what you want accomplished but do not have the current energy or time for.. it almost feels like you set the intention on paper & that is the start to the process of cleaning/sorting the room or area you may have written down. Who knows! It may spark an idea as to where these items could call home & live in a space that works with your life ❤

Not a small goal at all, really. I have a few non-fiction books that I really, really want to finish and I find them super interesting, but I always go back to my fiction books.
You've inspired me now, and will see how I can best manage to keep reading my non-fiction books.
Probably doesn't help, that I tend to have around 4-5 books on the go anyway, but there must be a way.

Thank you! It’s a great idea, especially for reading because it needs no preparation. I was thinking of painting or such, but by the time everything is setup and prepared the 10 min will have passed. But reading or a quick sketch sound very doable. New (healthier) habits is my „huge“ goal for 2025. New subscribers here’s.

    • @theforgottenbookshopgirl9062
      @theforgottenbookshopgirl9062  Місяць тому

      Thank you.
Absolutely, trying something different and more complex this year (sewing) made me realise again how important it is to make this new 10 minute habit as easy as possible.
Maybe you could do some sketching instead of painting? Strip it down to just a sketchbook and a pencil or sketchbook and ink. You could have a list of prompts, if that helps. It would get you started doing a creative habit. The painting could maybe be added on at some point.
Or if it is the painting you would like to do, would it be possible for you to have everything set up in a corner, so that you'd only have to sit down and paint? Or make the set-up as simple as possible? Again strip it down to what is necessary and start there.
Love your new "huge" goal. Again, don't make the habits too big when you are starting, make things as easy as possible.
In some ways, it is also a journey of making lots of decisions throughout the day. Think of the healthy person you are growing into being, what decisions would this person make throughout the day. What kind of habits does this person with a really healthy lifestyle have? Start small and doable and keep going. x

    Don’t look
There in the valley of white
    Stands a village
    Pretty houses in time
    Chimney and smoke and mist
And over there the tall mountain
    Ancient and strong
    Keeper of the forest
    Protector of all secrets
All the beauty of the world
    The roads far and wide
    Passing me by
    Laid before me, for me
    Don’t touch
    Busied my days
    Building fortress and castle
    Strong and safe
Do not wander, do not wonder
    I didn’t look, I didn’t touch
Today I bury my failed life-
Here lies he who never complained
    Never seen
    Never heard
    Today I bury my safety
    Today I fail on purpose
And I will not don’t run and don’t fall
And I will not don’t speak
I will touch and I will look and I will laugh
    Today I trade consent
    For coincidences
Today I shovel clouds in my window
    And forget about the snow
    Let it all fall down
