Love the design but how do you change the sandpaper, pull it out and stick another one ?. Greetings from India

I just watched how you made your disc sander.
Just a thought, if you were to enclose the front of the work table, you could add a vacuum port for dust collection. Just a thought. This is a very good video.

Why didn't you use self adhesive disks from Amazon instead that glue? How do you change the paper? I'm going to build one like yours on my 6" Roybi bench grinder. Thanks for the idea!

    How do you sand bevels?

Love this project! I have an old bench grinder that I bought for this project -- I think my biggest questions are these:
    1. How did you ultimately decide on the size for your disk?
    2. What size do you figure your final diameter turned out to be (roughly)?
    3. Are you running into any sort of issues with the motor slowing as you add pressure to the wheel with your workpiece?
Thanks for posting this! Great job!

Hi. Some good questions. Ok we can only buy small discs sand paper in my country or sheets A4 size. I ended up with aroun 220 mm for my disc. And yes the motor does slow down if you put to much presure on it but it sands so quickly, it wont slow down normally if you put the right amount of presure on. Just make the whole build or sort of half way. The biggest problem is getting your disc and shaft basicly to balance. That was quite a work.

@@wikusviljoen488 LOL -- it didn't even occur to me, until your reply, that the "WV" doesn't stand for "West Virginia"... :D (and, of course, now I see the metric measuring tape and the European(?)-style plug for the grinder --- amazing the details one can miss... LOL)
Thank you so much for your reply, though. I was trying to decide between a 6 inch or an 8 inch disc. I may go with the 6" to start, just to sort of get my feet wet with the project. I wondered if balancing the wheel was going to be much of an issue, but your method seems to be fairly successful.... :)

Not Quite A Chef Cooking School Hi yes its true. Depends on the size of your bench grinder i would say. I will go for the 8 inch discs. Reason is the area for unused sand paper is bigger. Our sand paper is cheap. Looses its grit very quickly. So i need to replace regulary. Balancing is not that big of a problem. Maybe you are lucky to get it balanced quickly on your machine. I used like a lathe setup on mine to get it balanced. O the WV its my name and surname. Wikus is my name.
