Minor correction: El Shaddai came out on PS3/360!

However, I backed Eiyuden Chronicles so it's on this April!
So true. Didn't back Eiyuden but I'm definetely going to play it this month.
100% agree about the Sand Land demo. Played it on PS5 and there wasn’t anything meaty there. Walked a little, drove a little, shot some dudes and big monsters and that’s it. I’m hoping the game does well though. I’ve always liked how Akira Toriyama designed his characters and seeing as how he passed recently I really hope this game does well. When I first heard about it I expected it to be anime Mad Max with monsters and dinosaurs.
I can't wait for the release of Eiyuden Chronicles!
Stellar Blade is easily the standout game of this month (and honestly my most anticipated game for this year) and the demo just proves how incredible the full game is going to be.
Yeah, the demo was excellent! My only concern was the Film Grain issue. The game was so static and I hope they fix it.
I was so surprised how good that game looks. Obviously the character models are another level lol but they have a great game there and it’s not all fan service it’s going to be a great game.
I'm more excited for Eiyuden Chronicles, but Stellar Blade does look good.
I still don’t get the hype. The gameplay was pretty mediocre and the graphics were grainy or blurry. Idk the graphics just look really odd to me
@@luism8130 the general consensus is that the gameplay is quite good, and I think it looks fantastic. Sounds like it just didn't hit with you.

Stellar Blade looks SO good and same with Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes! I can't wait! Trying my best to get through as much as possible...this year is too good!
I was a day 1 backer for Ec:100 hero and played the beta that we had access to and it is basically suikoden from what I saw. I loved suikoden 1 &2 and will buy the remaster when it comes out. Also rising tide isn't the last expansion for 16 the director said there will be one more.
Please play Suikoden 2 now or when the HD remaster comes out. You will not be disappointed.
Star ocean second story r is blowing my mind right now. That opening animation is legendary! Great video!
Divided on Sand Land. The trailers looked so good but the demo felt so bad. Hundred heroes has my eyes and will probably be added to the backlog. The last six months have been so good to RPG games.
Here's hoping I can review it prior to its release so I can report on it!

You fell of Suikoden? That's a shame. I was lucky enough to be there in the early days, playing these games on Playstation discs.
I'm sad to say my copy of Suikoden II was stolen but, at one point I had a sealed copy I paid just 20$ for.
IT WOULD BE WORTH A SMALL FORTUNE TODAY. 😩
The plan was to get the Suikoden successor game on my birthday since it comes out on my brithday, but I just received word that the switch version got delayed until May so instead, I'll just get Unicorn overlord on Switch and get Dragon Ball Z Kararot on my PS4. At least that way I can pay my respects to Akira Toriyama and overall a pretty good list Alex!
I'll be finishing Rebirth, playing Unicorn Overlord, and waiting for my copy of Eiyuden Chronicles and Stellar Blade.
All while squeezing in time for Helldivers 2 and Genshin Impact. It's a good time to be a gamer!
I am SO EXCITED for Eiyuden Chronicles!!!
I've been a Suikoden fan for many years, ever since the PS2 era. Funnily enough I started with a spin off game, Suikoden Tactics. After that I tried Suikoden 3 (the first on the PS2) and loved it, then went back and played Suikoden 1 and 2 and went to 5, but since I played them all back to back I got burned out near the end of Suikoden 5 so I never finished it.
I skipped 4 because as I was researching the franchise I saw that 4 was the least liked one so I left it for last, but since I burned out by the end of 5 I never got to it.
Ever since then I've been wishing for another Suikoden, I love the unique mix of multiple scales of combat (duels, regular RPG battles and large scale wars), as well as base building and character recruitment. I wish that formula had become popular and other games would use it as well, but alas it got forever stuck only on this franchise that unfortunally is dead and buried.
But a year (or maybe 2?) ago I found out about Eiyuden Chronicles and boy was I happy! Can't believe I can almost play it! Let's go my fellow Suikoden fans, our time has arrived!
Eiyuden Chronicle, Sand Land, and Class of Heroes makes for a great month! So happy about the remaster! Now to find the time to play them all...

Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes backer #19 checking in! Excited to finally be able to dig into the game, and it still feels like a miracle that it even exists. I'm heartbroken about Yoshitaka Murayama's passing. He should have been able to see his passion project released, and I'd hoped he'd be at the helm of Rabbit & Bear Studios for years to come and for many future Eiyuden projects. Now I can only hope that there are developers in the studio that have inherited his style and that they can do right by his legacy. It's also the final nail in the coffin for a new Suikoden game, or at least any form of Suikoden that I might have looked forward to. In any case, please play Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes (and Rising)!
Stellar Blade is my most anticipated game this year, especially after that demo. But between that, No Rest For The Wickef, Eiyuden Chronicles, and Another Crab’s Treasure, plus Sandland and Saga once they go on sale, this is an absolutely insane month in my book
Stellar Blade looks absolutely 'stellar' 😏 But in all seriousness, I would say it's my most anticipated game on this list, and I am curious if and what philosophical elements the game may portray 🤔

I played the sand land demo as well. Only for a few minutes though since it was so boring. I agree with you that this is a bad demo haha. I will wait for the release and get some better feel of it once we see more gameplay

Played the Stellar Blade demo and now I'm so excited for the full game. I don't know when I'll get to it though, Dragon's Dogma 2 is going to take me a while.
Sand land looks like dragon ball, and I want it for that alone :3
I'm looking forward to Eiyuden Chronicles and Broken Roads, but I'm keeping an eye for Stellar Blade reviews.
Any game that gets people to play it for 2-300+ hours in its launch month is something special!

Stellar blade is a hybrid genre. Not just souls, not just CAG. From what I've played, it's solid. So i hope it turns out great!
I WOULD be playing Stellar Blade this month, if it were on PC, but that's not happening until later this year, maybe next year (thankfully one of PlayStation's reps confirmed it when I asked them, so at least it IS happening). Also, the character-action subgenre mainly refers to combat-focused action games with a grading system based on the player's performance, like DMC, Ninja Gaiden and Bayonetta, and I don't think Stellar Blade fits that bill. Still looks great though.
Freedom Planet 2 looks pretty good, but I still need to finish the first one. Part of the problem is I've never found 2D Sonic-likes as interesting or fun to play as the 3D ones, which isn't to say they're bad.
And I've played El Shaddai on PC. While I enjoyed the atmosphere, music, visuals and its unique retelling of the Book of Watchers, the shallow, repetitive combat left a lot to be desired. Not the most completionist-friendly game either. Also, minor correction, El Shaddai was from the PS3 and 360 era.
April will probably be a quiet month for me unless I play Yellow Taxi Goes Vroom at launch, so I'll just use the opportunity to save my pennies for Endless Ocean Luminous next month.
I got to play Sandland at PAX East, and my problem is that it seems to be a open world game with no difficulty and no complexity.
It handles well. The tank controls are fun, and things explode as they should. The regular combat is a dynasty warriors model of single-button attack chains with second button finishers. It plays incredibly well, but if you can't cut your teeth on something, then it'll end up being a rote collect-a-thon, even if it's a very good one.
And I like Ubisoft games, so it's up my alley, but I don't have any great aspirations for it. Like Tchia, maybe?
I think of Madmax a little bit - but that combat seemed a bit more complicated, and the car combat a bit more involved with upgrades for your core vehicle. I didn't get much complexity from the demo.
Saga game needs a demo . Going be another one of those turn based games people say square don’t make anymore . Hype for eiyudden most likely wait on Stella . Probably won’t beat niether ff7 or unicorn before then

Same here. I bought Dragon's Dogma 2, but I have yet to get to it as I am still sucked into Persona 3 Reload.
Still playing Banishers and Rebirth because my wife watches them or else I’d be way finished. I will be playing Stellar Blade for sure on the 26th.

I don't know if this is a thing about demos but, why are we asking a lot from the demo? a demo is a demo to feel how the game works. Let's all remember we did not pay for the demo.
The purpose of demos is to entice us to get the full game. A poor demo does the exact opposite.

The best demos are a couple hours (varying depending on overall expected playtime, maybe an hour for a ten hour game and 4 for a 50+ hour game) that carry over into the full release. I believe that FF16 did this. I can’t describe how excited I was to buy that game after playing the demo, same with unicorn overlord
It sounds like the sand land demo ... was a demo and not the game ... dude go back and play some PS2 Demos I think you need some perspective here cause your coming off as if you don't know what your talking about.
I actually think YOU don’t know what you’re talking about.
We have had demos over the past 5 years of JRPGs alone that have both story and gameplay in it. The reason why these kinds of demos were ok back in the PS2 days is, well, because it was 3 whole console generations ago and is a completely outdated model, so trying to rationalize that “it worked more than 2 decades ago” shows that you’re not aware of current standards and expectations.
Great examples of recently released JRPG demos that have story AND gameplay:

Triangle Strategy
Scarlet Nexus
Tales of Arise
Star Ocean: The Second Story R
Diofield Chronicle
Unicorn Overlord
I agree Dmans you really have no idea what you are talking about and before you asked I have played PS2 demos. Just take the L before you make this worse.
Let’s not forget that even PS1 JRPG demos had both story AND gameplay - Brave Fencer Musashi and FF8 come to mind!
Even Granblue Fantasy Relink gave you a taste of the story.
@all of the above excuse me for disagreeing then I guess I was crazy for having fun on Kmart and Bestbuy demo consoles as a kid that didn't show off the story just the opening of the game with the cutscenes removed. would it have been nice for it to show off some story yeah it would have but that's not needed for the demo it shows off the game a lot of what's different about it from other JRPGs gives you out of context hints about the story the world the characters if you pay attention and spend some time on it you'll see all of that there's a house on the side of the road where if you get out the characters mention an event from the princes past you can drive around and hear conversations from the old man of how they left the village and his time in the army it tells you a lot about the story with out ruining the cutscenes by showing you giving you the chance to have your first experience with it later when you own the game.
Ya'll can make fun of me all you want say my way of thinking is out dated try to hurt my feelings by saying I should take the L like it's some kind of contest. cherry pick stuff from the past like it some how invalidates my points but I stand by the statement that this demo is good and that I don't think any of you gave it a fair chance or spent any time in the demo just trying to enjoy it or find secrets or Easter eggs and it's cause of that and all this wining that I don't trust that you know what your talking about. Ya'll are more concerned with being right than asking if I had a point.
