I have a timer that has a problem that nobody I have found online has addressed yet. My pump has been running okay but I noticed that when the timer turned it off, it would not turn it back on. I removed the dial pointer, spring and face plate (yes I know it says don't unscrew) and found that the small plastic piece which makes contact with the on and off trippers was damaged. There are two legs that make contact with the trippers as the dial turns. The leg that makes contact with the "on" tripper was worn down and no longer making contact with the tripper. I have looked for the part as it is simply held on the dial shaft with a c-clip. But I have not found one and will have to replace the timer.
@rickkirkland450 Thank you for sharing that info with everyone. I've personally never taken apart the timer to get to those parts that you are referring to. I do know that it gets to a point in the lifecycle of the timer where even if you replace the "on" or "off" tripper sometimes it still doesn't do the trick. Hello there! If the gears are moving but the YELLOW DIAL itself is NOT rotating or moving them the yellow dial needs to be replaced. If you were to take apart the timer itself there are a few tiny components and if any of them fail/go bad then it could/would stop the timer from moving. Either way I've never seen replacement parts for those items. It just makes sense to replace the timer. Let me know if that makes sense or if you have any follow up questions.
When the power is on, the gears in the back rotate. When the clock rotates to the off peg, everything shuts off and the the clock stops working? Wiring issue?
When the clock rotates to the OFF peg everything is supposed to shut off. If the clock itself stops rotating and stays "stuck" in the OFF position then you can try and replace the OFF peg/tripper/pin with a new one. Sometimes the OFF or ON peg gets warped or bent. If that doesn't work then you have to replace the timer. There is a small piece that makes contact with the peg and over time it gets worn down and the entire mechanism needs to be replaced. I don't see that being a wiring issue in my opinion.
