Stuff Like Avatar: The Last Airbender, Spider Man: Into the Spider Verse, Gravity Falls or Steven Universe are all shows that look good and can have breathtaking moments of either scenery, story or both. Am I the only one who doesn't remember puberty as an incredibly awkward/life altering mess? It just came and went and I ended up with a deeper voice. The worst part of puberty for me was the fact that everyone else kept making unfunny jokes about it.
I’ve never watched the show, but I really like the idea of each person having their own “hormone monster” that’s could be a manifestation of their insecurities, sense of independence, intrusive thoughts, etc. We could watch characters of varying ages (or the same character at different ages) and see how different the experiences become over time. Eventually healthy adults make peace with their monster. We could see adults who never learned to do that who are toxic or immature even when they’re older. Idk.

Instead, it focuses on the adventures that Rick and his grandson, Morty, go on. Just realized the puberty monster looks like a big hairy Roger from American Dad. The way he stands, his proportions, and some of his facial expressions and hand movements are all reminiscent of him.
My favorite uses of breaking the forth wall was in Ed Edd n Eddy. Unlike big mouth where its just fucking random, Ed Edd n Eddy kept them mostly to less than a second and oddly fits with the characters personalities themselves. It wasn't compromising or self reliant on those jokes, it was just a quick moment of wow.

KOTH doesn't necessarily have a bad art style, nor does humor, but it can be technically put in there.

Shows like Love, Death + Robots and Castlevania prove that adult western animation can not only tackle mature and philosophical themes, but can also be beautiful, and not solely rely on cheap shock and gross-out humour.

Yeah, Rick and Morty and Bojack are definitely easier to look at than this. All the main characters are proportioned in a way that doesn't make me uncomfortable to look at. Plus, I can handle a certain level of something looking bad if it's *funny* enough to warrant it (something like Aqua Teen Hunger Force) but this show just isn't funny enough to counter balance it. @Tommy The animation is 'okay' at best. It's not even on par with newer Family Guy seasons, so calling it anything above 'okay' just doesn't seem fair. It almost has that "pre packaged animation" feel.

I usually only watch kids cartoons like ducktales or tawog because I honestly find those shows more mature. They basically said that males can’t be raped.. That makes me pissed. Disclaimer: what I meant or what part of the show I meant is the show where they all do dress-ups and do a nice lil musical about it being inappropriate and not at all for children. I really liked this and it was a fun musical number. Then, the plot went on and apparently it was about a man being basically forced to have sex with a woman and then she framed him for taking sexual advantage from him when he declined. All of this I thought was quite realistic and I was really sure they were going to do those serious messages where they explain something important about sex or rape and stuff. Then it turned out the show stuff was slightly sexist and racist when the whatever his name was changed pieces of the script up and mixed new character names in in the show. I myself enjoyed this and hoped that maybe it would be about sexism, male rape victims and racism. Sweet. Then the kids of course wants to cancel the show completely and make sure that they do not perform. All of this I took well and understood. Then apparently it turned out the gals were trying to explain that women should always be trusted, when that isn’t the case. For example my uncle once got taken advantage of by one of his students. He is a teacher. She told everyone that he was sexually assisting her and stuff. Then with almost too much evidence the cops still didn’t even trust him. It took him months of explaining to get the truth out and she was t even dealt with. I excuse my English. I am not a native English speaker. That’s when I got really mad. When the show wouldn’t even acknowledge men could be raped I got extremely mad. That’s all, hope you all understand.

Yea, when most animated shows are either completely for babies or overly violent/crass because "oh look, animation is normally for kids but this is edgy and crude! How funny!", its refreshing to have a show that is just funny in general

Duded Dude nice analysis! And I don’t hate the show, but as a teenager I feel as if the “teenager” part of the show misses the mark a bit. (Let me know if I should go deeper into that). Again, it’s not bad and I *was* looking forward to the third season actually. Lastly I agree about the relatable memes but goddamnit the phrase “omg that’s so relatable” or “LOOOL SO MEEEEE” has ruined that type of humor for me.

My favorite uses of breaking the forth wall was in Ed Edd n Eddy. Unlike big mouth where its just fucking random, Ed Edd n Eddy kept them mostly to less than a second and oddly fits with the characters personalities themselves. It wasn't compromising or self reliant on those jokes, it was just a quick moment of wow.

Adult cartoons, especially ones by Netflix, need to learn that Adult Cartoons don't need to have a gross art style, and horrible, vulgur, and lewd humor. you don't need to have that for an adult cartoon! The only exceptions are Beevus and Butthead, because that show does not, in the slightest take itself seriously, it's for a laugh purely. And King Of The Hill. KOTH doesn't necessarily have a bad art style, nor does humor, but it can be technically put in there.
You're looking at it the wrong way. You're basically saying that vulgar humor is worse than non vulgar humor and that ugly characters designs are worse than cute characters designs. Both work perfectly, it's doesn't need to be ugly and very sexual but that doesn't mean it SHOULDN'T be ugly and sexual.

And the one occasion it did work, wifh Beevus and Butthead, is because the writing is good, and the two main character's are dumbass's. No one really wants to remember Middle School, either. Its very hard to find humor in that point in time.

Yeah, Rick and Morty and Bojack are definitely easier to look at than this. All the main characters are proportioned in a way that doesn't make me uncomfortable to look at. Plus, I can handle a certain level of something looking bad if it's *funny* enough to warrant it (something like Aqua Teen Hunger Force) but this show just isn't funny enough to counter balance it.
@Tommy The animation is 'okay' at best. It's not even on par with newer Family Guy seasons, so calling it anything above 'okay' just doesn't seem fair. It almost has that "pre packaged animation" feel.

I usually only watch kids cartoons like ducktales or tawog because I honestly find those shows more mature. Adult cartoons only ever have the same jokes which is "haha sex is funny" "look how gross this is" and "oh you didn't expect that shock humor is totally not a shortcut to telling an actual joke". Its like adult cartoons try to be as ugly and crude as possible to show they are mature when it does the opposite. Shows like Avatar look beautiful and have deep emotional characters I like, not lazy and loud characters overcompensating so hard to look mature. It reminds me of Disney Channel sitcoms where everyone is wearing bright colors and yelling all the time.

Disclaimer: what I meant or what part of the show I meant is the show where they all do dress-ups and do a nice lil musical about it being inappropriate and not at all for children. I really liked this and it was a fun musical number. Then, the plot went on and apparently it was about a man being basically forced to have sex with a woman and then she framed him for taking sexual advantage from him when he declined. All of this I thought was quite realistic and I was really sure they were going to do those serious messages where they explain something important about sex or rape and stuff. Then it turned out the show stuff was slightly sexist and racist when the whatever his name was changed pieces of the script up and mixed new character names in in the show. I myself enjoyed this and hoped that maybe it would be about sexism, male rape victims and racism. Sweet. Then the kids of course wants to cancel the show completely and make sure that they do not perform. All of this I took well and understood. He is a teacher. She told everyone that he was sexually assisting her and stuff. Then with almost too much evidence the cops still didn’t even trust him. It took him months of explaining to get the truth out and she was t even dealt with. I excuse my English. I am not a native English speaker. That’s when I got really mad. When the show wouldn’t even acknowledge men could be raped I got extremely mad. That’s all, hope you all understand.

Nor me or any classmates of mine were thinking like this at 12/13 (age of protagonists). We were just chilling w games or music n stuff, so this show provides a really unrealistic look of kids that age (im 16 now)
That's true for some kids. Not so true for others.
