@@TheDemouchetsREACTguys am subscribing to your channel you are few of the real legit African Americans I've met keep up with what you do God bless
Welcome to the family!❤
In Africa ,we don't call people black or white , instead it's European, Asian, American, Afro-american we have all shades of color
In Nigeria, even with the accent, people still just assume you’re a Nigerian who just returned from the states and picked up the accent while there. Nigerians do travel a lot
I’m African American and I went to South Africa and the few Nigerians thought I was Nigerian.
@@tonyrossify because African Americans looks like people from west Africa
Am Nigerian but sometimes I switch my accents and l haven't been anywhere abroad but then you see some one asking me if am from the U.S ? Just because of the accent
I did not have this experience when I went there when I was 7, over 2 decades ago. They treated me like I was a foreigner. Despite the fact that my parents weren't. Even when I meet Nigerians in the Asian country that I live in now, I hesitate to call myself Nigerian because I've had some of them tell me that I'm not. So now I just say my parents are Nigerian. Even as a kid, I remember people assuming instantly that I wasn't Nigerian lol. But maybe it's because I was in the village. Not the city.
Cap🧢 The Nigerian accent is undefeated around the world. It does not succumb to assimilation. One does not lose this beautiful accent no matter how long one has been away from Nigeria
Your husband will pass as a Nigerian and you my lady you'll pass as a south African you look more like most women in my family ❤ you remind me of my mother and my sister
Love this bro!
Indeed she looks like one of my women friends named emma who’s from africa
Hubby I’d say more Congolese rather though.
Accurate is unmatched she looks like South Africa 🇿🇦👌 her face even her mindset toward things. Her husband seriously looks like Nigerian.
She could go easily as an angolan ❤
In Africa you are not black or white, you're African, African American, Asian, European, Arab . You're defined by who you are and not the color you are. Much love from Kenya
Yes yes 🔥🔥🔥🔥
I am black African, that's how I found when I came in this world it hard to change. But I understand it all depends on individual,s interpretation.
I agree with this. But if you look at Jamaican culture and traditional things you can see that Africa is deep in the things we do.
Yes!
I mean Buju got a whole song called African Pride....
Garnett Silk: "Hello mama Afrika....how are you? I'm feeling fine and I hope you are too."
WATTTTTT??????? 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I'm Bajan but I love Jamaican culture and music the most out if the whole of the Caribbean.
@@ayanna321 Allow individual African Americans to speak for themselves. Some deny their roots, while others don't.
That is true.
At the same time it funny how jamaican culture and music has also influenced many in the African continent.
The legacy of people like Bob Marley or Peter Tosh lives on ❤❤
Much respect from Angola, Africa ❤
In Nigeria so long as you're dark skin you're view as a fellow Nigerian even with your American accent they just assume you're one of those Nigerians that grew up in America
DNA doesn't lie... Africa DNA is very strong
If they don't believe it in our features, we can prove it in our blood!

African has almost 3000 tribes that's 3000 different spices different colours. Those who have seeked to conquer and divide use have used our tribal differences to fuel fire between us . I'm Zulu and I wish all Africa from Cape to Cairo could wear their colours with pride like we do . If we understand our different we could wear all these colours with so much pride . Africa is very colourful
Very genuine couple Nice reaction. I am from Zambia living in South Africa Johannesburg. I have been here for almost 14 years married and my children all born in south Africa no one even knows am from Zambia unless I say it. Much love to all blacks 🙌🏾

We know 😂 all love darling
No matter where you come from as long as you are a black man / woman, You're an African. We need to start embracing one and other. There is power in unity. All love.
I love this comment
On point 👌
In Xhosa we have a saying that says "umntu ngumntu ngabantu" meaning a person is a person because of others. We also go on to say it takes a community to raise a child. Thus its always hard for us to let people be. We always want to pull one another to each other. It's not easy for us to see someone get lost. Thus it's so hard for us to let someone escape us. Coz we can't build alone. We need each other
And yet you have South Africans hating on other Africans
@@nicolah8510 maybe because their more Whyte Afrikaner
Ubuntu.
I am because you are.
I live by that.
@@nicolah8510 really?
The colonial system was designed to make us hate our African Ness and our blackness. The divide was intentionally made to divide us. The white knew that our strenght was in our unity and they made that impossible with designing the boarders and everything
African American culture is an African culture that has evolved over time and to the environments they found themselves in. It shows the resilience of the African culture /genes.
I understand what you are trying to say but don't get twisted there are some part of the AA culture that is not African ...the degeneracy, gang banging, and self hating to the point to disrespecting eachother is not part of our African culture so there is a Clear distinction
@Opeyemi adegoke aren't there tribal wars on the continent, little girls being kidnapped. No need to put us down to make yourself feel better
@Jay Jones Exactly. What Ope said is something that is common everywhere including Africa.
@OTG exactly, trying to point fingers when their crimes are worse than ours. Ridiculous
Makes sense my brother
I am always surprise when some people would say AA does not have a culture, is culture not a way of life? Does AA not have a way of life that has influenced the world in many ways? Like what you said Mrs Demouchet, our ancestors who were stolen went to the America with their culture, they blended together and modified the culture based on their new environment, a way of life that has now influenced a lot of people worldwide.
What they did on the plantations created the American culture. We're just adding on to their contributions- from the way we cook, eat, speak, etc.
African Americans have influenced African culture and trends in many ways.
I honestly thought, before he started speaking, that the young American man with glasses, was an Igbo Nigerian. He is an “ Emeka” or “ Chinedu”. African Americans look Igbo! My sister and I used to name our favourite African- American celebrities ..” Oh look at Chinyere” etc. 🤣
Straight facts! My Aunt is married to an Igbo man. His cousin and my great uncle have the exact same face. 🤣 They could be twins.
@@ladybluelotus Wow! Igbo Kwenu! I loved reading that.
Some black Americans say that we sold them off to slavery , the truth is , it was only two kings and their men who did that. Other black Americans say that Africans did not fight for them but they did. Some slaves were even brought back to the continent. We were just out numbered and if we kept fighting we were going to be wiped out because we didn't have the weapons they had even though we win many battles. We are all learning a history written by whites and they tell us what they want us to know. Even our history here in Africa starts with slavery and colonisation and it does not go into detail about black history , it talks about whites mostly. We learn that we didn't have civilization in Africa and we should be greatful that white people came because we lived in the wild , but we all know that is not true. So as we grow , we try to unlearn and relearn. Trust me it is not easy. We are even trying to get rid of the religions. It is hard to unlearn and relearn 😭😭
Zulu girl here. I love you. " If you are new to us and we are new to you" ...I like that
Reminds me of my first time in Cameroon. At the port of Limbe, the port health nurse I worked with thought I was Cameroonian until I started talking to her then she asked are you Nigerian?
I said yeah 🤣🤣
Even with the American accent it is difficult for people to tell if you are an African American in Africa, because there are a lot of Africans who have kids in the US 🇺🇸 and those kids have a perfect American accent so you having an American accent wouldn’t make people automatically assume you are an African American, if you don't tell us we wouldn't know 😂
True!
Maybe some of you. That has definitely NOT been my experience.
But, their features in many cases gives them award. Most Africans facial features are different than a African American so they may speak with no tone but, their faces can and does tell the story in many ways along with hair.
@@lizzieaftertaylor939 Cause in many cases you're saying they all look alike.. 🙄
@@lizzieaftertaylor939that’s cap, almost all african americans i’ve met looked very west african
I am just so happy for the impact social media has played and continues to play. We are increasingly understanding ourselves and coming together. A time will come when we will be the toast of the world and it is already shaping up to be that way. We are everywhere and even though slavery, which helped spread us everywhere was a bd thing, we are gradually turning things around. That young man that was stolen from Africa centuries ago had a brother. I may have descended from that brother who was not stolen whereas you descended from the one that was stolen. So, we probably originate from one man / woman. Like the lady said, we do need to heal, together!
❤❤
I hope we also see how impactful propaganda can be. For an entire century most of what we knew of each other was 2nd hand. The narrative was completely controlled by other people.
Very true
Its beautiful that we different.. We need to embrace each other as we are
💯
We could never deny you, irregardless of how long you have been physically separated from the continent. As it was said before, we are all extensions of the same root, and as the original people on Earth, it can never be taken away from you.
This is why we as Africans are so happy when we see Black Americans, Caribbeans, Latinos, and others achieving success, because you wear the brand of our continent and it inspires us to see people that look like us break the conditions imposed on us.

Out of context but The last girl on low cut, did you see how she speaks? Authorative even though the words of her mouths are kind? That's how most Nigerians speaks and we are often misunderstood as proud or Arrogant, We speaks with all our body . Love your channel❤🇳🇬
Yes, a Nigerian did my hair and I had this conversation with her. This is why I share that all African Americans do not hate Africans. There is just a misunderstanding in the way we all speak sometimes. Much love!
Jamaicans get accused of the same thing. Just goes to show that 400 years of separation did not erase everything.
I love this video. I teach in a university in Kumasi, Ghana and I met this American lady, a full brighter, who blends so beautifully with us culturally. Africans are great and some of our people still don't know. Let's spread the good news.
Am African and proud of mama Africa 🌍
I’m not African but I thought what she had to say was a very beautiful metaphor. I wish we heard the rest of what she had to say ❤
This video reminds me of a female black American who featured in Joy of JAZZ that was hosted in Sandton, South Africa. She said something that told me that she knows that she is at home as she was saying she saw someone when she was walking in the shopping complex that looked like her dad. Africans in the diaspora are still Africans, we as Africans regard them as our own.
Black Americans have deep culture...in Africa we Love your hip hop culture.....and comedy and everything your swag that's culture..you Kept it🔥🔥🔥🔥💪🏿
Nice video guys! This same words was what I told my American Gf when She came visiting in Nigeria in 2019 at the time I was there for a holiday! NO one sees you as An American or whatever as long you got a Dark Skin! When you're on African soil, You're one of us! The ONLY time they might get to Notice you're not from There by nationality is when You speak with your accent LOL. I told her let's give it a try & whenever We went anywhere, She would let me do the talking. At the local restaurants where She insisted that We must eat, Whenever they came to take our orders, they'd speak The pidgin English to her and she'd.be staring at them confused lol. That's when She'd begin to speak English language and they got to Know She was African-American from her accent. I also remember visiting Tanzania and Kenya. At the Pubs or restaurants, the waiter would come to me speaking Swahili and I'd be staring at them confused lol. Then they got to know I'm not East African. We have same blood Ties. We're One and the earlier We all start seeing this and reuniting with our clan regardless of where they are on the face of the Earth, We would NEVER get to value Who We truly are! Africans are Ancient people with a Royal Existence.Lets Be proud of whom We are! New subscriber here ! Keep up the Good work guys!✌️👏👏

Looking forward to seeing y’all in Zimbabwe…with y’all’s accents it’s fine…there’s spice in the diversity 😄
Sometimes we see you as an african who grew up in america , because there are lots of africans who grew up there and have american accents and we don't criticise them for that

I’m South African that live in England… and people always ask me what and where I’m from.. when I say I’m African first than South African they look at me like I said something wrong. Africa is not painted in a bright light and from my personal experience people are ashame of being associated with MOTHER AFRICAN 🌍…I proud African from Cape Town no matter where I find myself in the world
Agreed! I've experienced this in England as well. I'm an AA but I consider myself an African first. Displaced, yes but African in mind, heart and spirit.
I’m likeminded. I’ve never left the continent…but l too think of myself as Afrikan first, Zimbabwean second.
There’s soo many similarities in our cultures than there are differences really. And even in the differences…there’s soo much to learn from. I for one…did my degree in SA and l love how SAns even greet as they enter the Taxi. That is something l bought back with me to Zim
I agree with your sentiment. I'm African first, Jamaican second.

You're welcome.
I want to expand on where the girl in this videos thought process was. She is right, she and her family are African american. It gets to a point where African people act like African Americans taking pride in what we are, and what we overcame is bad. As if being African American isn't enough. If people want to learn about their ancestors' culture, then great. But honestly, africans from the continent and even friends I have who are here in the States act as if I'm supposed to throw away my own history and culture for his. Like mine isn't valuable or something
Thanks for adding your perspective to my comment, love!
YOU GUY NEED TO DO MORE OF THIS.
We may need to vet them to be sure it isn't becoming repetitive topics, but more is on the way.
i had this discussion with my brother and friends about this very topic, when you do a deep dive there is a bond you can't explain. but it jus clicks, doesn't matter which part you from like the guy in the video said that you are tiger but in this context you are a Lion . east west, north , south we are "one" and that's something a group of people fear a reunited pride of Lions.

The question of 'where are you from?', is a common question in my country in Africa. It is an ice breaker where the other person wants to know who you are and where you are from. We see this all the time in talk shows, people are curious, they want to know you. That's why there is Wikipedia for the famous people.
In Southern Africa (Zambia, South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe etc) people rarely care where you’re from cause even the our accents aren’t that different

It’s the Ilozumba clip for me 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂. That part of the video had me in stitches 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂.
This is so true…
When I moved to the states I came here with the same thought I had back in Kenya, where I never was asked where I was from, never had to be mindful of how I interacted with people, never had to worry about my skin color.
Whenever I cooked food and my American friends who were there would be amazed by it,this was not normal for me.
I quickly learned through my African American friends what it meant to be Black cause i had never referred myself as a black woman.
As a joke I would say, never knew i was black until i came here.
Not necessarily in a bad way,but that meant I had to learn what that entails.
My friends at first didn’t understand why I asked so many questions but for someone who has grown all her life in the midst of most people looking the same as me,our ways are the same, our culture and traditions may vary but I had never had to look at my skin and refer to myself as a black person.
I’ve visited a number of African countries and I love them all. I am of Jamaican heritage living in the U.K. I love Jamaica very, very much and yes I love the U.K. I have known my African roots since I was a child and very much appreciate them but Jamaica is a huge part of my identity that I refuse to diminish, that doesn’t mean I deny my African roots . What I find disappointing is when people from the Caribbean deny their African roots also when Africans tell people from the Caribbean you are not Jamaican/ Trini and they do it in a way that implies you don’t know your identity or history. It’s not true and it’s very disrespectful and THAT is what I have a problem with. I love my African brothers and Sisters and one of my friends always tells me I’m Ghanaian we laugh all the time about it (She is Nigerian)I have no problem with it but I am also Jamaican AND British. I think many people either don’t understand or refuse to accept that it is not just where your ancestors came from that influence who you are, even in Africa there are many countries and within those countries long-standing division exists, it’s not just something from the past If I keep telling a Kenyan they are Somalian would they not tell me “I’m Kenyan”. I believe we should not only embrace each other but take the time to learn to appreciate and understand each other
This is one of the best videos so far.
Africans ate not used to referring themselves as black, just humans. It's only when they go to white-dominant countries that they have to take on a new description base on skin color and what that means in those white-dominant countries
If y’all come to South Africa…she’s gonna be looking like a Zulu or Xhosa woman
Na this is more like a west African face.like the Yoruba tribe In Nigeria
The way I see it, being of African descent is kinda like the grace of God, whether you want it or not, it's still available to you. So whether you're black or a hyphenated African, the African continent will still identify with you, and like it or not, the rest of the world will also assume you identify with the motherland, unless/until you state otherwise...
It feels weird that you guys feel like a minority there in America. Here in Africa, it's just so normal. We are one. No difference. I'm from Malawi 🇲🇼 by the way 😁
That's not a hundred percent truth because all tribes in Africa don't get alone not even in the same country correct me if am wrong

As an African born in Africa who works in Australia, when I go back to Kenya and speak English, they will know that I live overseas. It's all in the accent and how I dress. They also know if it is hot weather and your skin looks matte, you've probably just come from overseas. There are many Africans who work in the Western world, so your American accent might not be automatically be translated as 'you are an African American'. They might they you are an African living in America.
Simply defined Culture is a way of life of the People..every human being has Culture it is only ignorant to think some groups of People don't have Culture...

After watching this video, I think it would be a great idea for the willing African Americans, to have an African family that 'adopts' them.
According to my elders it is said. We in Africa will wait until, the last of her children are returned. Only then will we see freedom, and our God
I'm Nigerian from Anambra state and would like to know why some African-Americans hate Africans? I would like to confirm if it is true or false. Btw i love this video. Sometimes, African Americans and Africans need to sit down and discuss things like this, too.
Sometimes, I always wondered if we the Africans are descendants of the African-American but didn't have a clue because definitely historians would destory historical record of that even searching online is not enough but good thing I'm learning about it here.
