A classic RTS, I agree with all the other comments here such a shame we never saw a sequel. Ubisoft is now like most AAA developers and totally out of touch with what gamers want. No other RTS's come close to how I felt about this at the time.
Foreal, was playing the Ellis Island mission on this game and it reminded me of Freedom Fighters, my best friend and I played that game day in and out just in vs battles.
My brother introduced me to this game because he wanted to play multiplayer together against bots. Still one of the best RTS games I've played since then.
I’m so glad I got this game when it was free on Ubi, never had this much fun with an RTS before. Big shame it never got a sequel, though I wish at least it’s gameplay system would be adopted by others.
I loved this game! The campaing story was amazing, and the multiplayer could be really chalenging as well since you had to really coordinate with teamates
I went on Steam to see how much it is, and it is not even there anymore. What a massive shame. I wish i knew about this game. Looks so cool. Also, glory to Raptoria. 26:08 Commander says it's not time to cross the bridge. Raptor then goes 'awe' in disappointment.
One of my most badass experiences in gaming was me defending Pine Valley with Naval Ship support against a relentless soviet offensive. It was brutal it was chaotic and deeply etcched into my memory. Damn, I have to reinstall the game now
I still resent ubisoft for abandoning this IP. It's a freaking masterpiece of its time. The gameplay is solid as a titanium block and storyline was a solid 8/10.
such a shame they didnt publish another game like this one... but still this game is so cool to play also today especially with mods like modern warfare and no hope.
World in conflict is still on my computer that's how good it is. Unbeatable story and mechanics. The only thing that currently compares is WARNO. The voice cast is amazing too.
This was the rts that i most played ever ,i finished the campaign more than five times and i still come back to it from time to time, no sad there is no sequel.

Thanks for sharing this video it gives me flash backs to my younger days. This was revolutionary at the time & I was happy when I got my hands on it. Hope it does it honours because back in them days there wasn’t many or no patches or updates, just the raw game you downloaded on the disc or game site and you got what you bought and damn could they make games back then. I do miss it this makes me smile cheers again.
world in conflict was, and still is the most amazing game that I own. I still play it from time to time. still have some old mods, my favorite is a modern mod that makes equipment and everything to modern standards. the cinematics were crazy too. the intro and all the rest of the cinematics still give me chills.
I recently was trying to remember this cool looking cold war RTS; i was hyped for before it was released AGES ago. I finally found it and i was so glad it was free! This game is absolutely amazing! Like a realistic C&C Red Alert with the epicness of Dawn of War and Company of Heroes.
The story was amazing. I remember the one in a town with big church, the US ran out the artillery barrage, fortunately the US Navy were at the shore and start using the canon to support the US army in the town. I played it back in 2008 and now almost desperate game like this will be coming out.
You know you can hit Ctrl + any number to group units together its really easy to get carry a way with everything's going on. It's just an absolutely beautiful game that never got the love it deserves, the mechanics, the graphics, the story, the gameplay, it's just perfect in every way possible.
One of my favorite games of all time. I remember upgrading my original computer with a new power supply and a new graphics card to play this in max settings, I think it was Nvidia 8800 series. I still have my collectors edition.
I recall buying this as a kid for allowance and my computer not meeting the minimum requirements. Couldn't play first mission over a few fps haha. Then again I had no clue about graphic settings then really. So who knows if it was defaulting too high. Playing through it now. Solid game. Something different.
I only played the main game and absolutely loved it. So atmospheric and ahead of its time. By the looks of it it still looks and sounds amazing up to this day.
I just can't take it seriously. I know it's fiction and everything, but it's absurd even in fiction to think the Soviets had any chance in Hell of taking on NATO. They survived WW2 thanks to American lend-lease, and the Russia of today is getting their soft spots pushed in by a bordering country (not even a whole ocean away) with American equipment which would have been made somewhat around the time this game takes place.
The intro reminds me Freedom Fighters. It's missing only Jesper Kyd's amazing soundtrack. To this day, Freedom Fighters soundtrack is my favourite game soundtrack. Even beats Morrowind, Sacrifice and Lost Eden.
I still have the game until now and have been playing again for the past 6 months with the best mod that makes the nuke realistic and really destructive. :o
Great game Raptorman. I liked it so much, I HATED the fact that you had to defeat the US troops! However, I did go out and buy this game, and will look forward playing thru the entire saga. :) Thanks for the recommendation. Yours, SammyC
Update as of 2023: Russia is a failure and in the 1980's, the most they could have done if they so choose to do the impossible is taking a handful of ports. But since NATO tech is far more advanced, the ships would have been detected and sunken before approaching the coast. In fact, the majority of the combat would be in Europe attempting to reach the River Rhine. Other than that, I find this scenario to be quite interesting
I had world in conflict I had the dlc but could never get the soviet assault to work Also cool fact I have parts of the Berlin Wall my family went there to witness the fall of the wall and my dad helped break part of it down they would rent tools to tourists and yeah we have 4 hand sized pieces of graffiti covered wall 😄
