I covered the A7 and D7 in a previous video, now I'm rounding out the set wit the E7 Synth pedal and the R7 Reverb pedal. I think theres some winners here, especially if you are looking for some weird and wonderful sounds in a small footprint, but does Mooers new micro series deliver across the board?

Every once in a while I think that I’d really like to have a synth pedal until I hear one again.
If I was going to get a synth pedal I intended to use I’d probably go for the boss. It’s costs more, but it’s actually usable.

Dude the E7 is awesome. Mode 1 with the arpegiator sounds like it’s out of a video game
The synth would be a lot more interesting if almost every mode didn't have that big sweeping oscillating phase effect. Didn't seem like there was a way to disable that? If not, unfortunate, really limiting the use of the pedal for fun synthy lines. The arpeggiator also doesn't seem particularly good to me but that's probably a matter of taste. As it is only the last 2 settings seem like they'd be usable. I'm with you though, the tracking is pretty decent. But for $100 I'd really rather have more control over it.
This gadget is cool kinda- my Digitech Dirty Robot sounds better by far. EHX Superego opens the door to whatever you want.
Totally agree! Check out the Boss SY-1. It has a lot more usable sounds, and it's tuns of fun to play over synth/elecctronic backing tracks.

That sums up exactly why I sold it, despite actually wanting to keep it just for the arpeggiator sounds.

Too bad about the spring. The huge decay on some of the other modes paired with a good spring would make this a great all in one mini verb. I think the A7 is a real winner for crazy sounds though.
Synth pedals can be lots of fun, but that one is really hamstrung by the fact that they force that sweeping wah thing on every sound... I'd love you to check out the BOSS SY-1 synth pedal! I got one last year and it's tons of fun to play around with. It has way more sounds than this E7, and way more of them are usable because they don't have that weird effect over them. You won't regret it if you want to have some fun playing with synth sounds! I love using it to play over like 80's synth backing tracks or electronic tracks. That with some delay and reverb is hours and hours of fun. :D
Also, a compressor before the synth can help a lot with sustain and notes getting a little choked and such, since it's using your completely dry clean signal.
Somewhere, I'm certain, there's a single madman grasping his screen with both hands and crying out, "This is the tone! I NEED AN E7!!"
I would take it as a fun tone to play around.

the synth pedal isnt bad, but honestly, i’d rather save up for a synth9 (already did that one!) or get an ehx bass synth (i play bass more than guitar) or the matryoshka one from banananana (thinking about one of those two to go with the synth9, which is fun, but why have one fun synth pedal when you could have........ two.........)

Never tried the Synth9, but the BOSS SY-1 is a great synth pedal as well!
So they make a series of pedals. All with 7's on them/ But, don't want you to refer them as 7 series pedals. Maybe they do not understand how that works? You put 7's on them, they are 7 series pedals.
Can you look at the ammoon line of pedals? I just got their delay/reverb and it's a really cool pedal. Also can you cover some looper pedals at different price points? There are some cheap ones on amazon that are really good (ammoon, donner) but I also want to know your opinion on some more expensive ones, like the boss rc1 or the brand new TC electronic ditto plus (which I don't think is even out yet, it's that new! Love your vids, keep em up!
The synth takes some tweaking to find good tones. Setting 6 is a ridiculously good 8-Bit once you lock in the right settings
Lofi Gary Numan or new wave sounds with that synth. Hit the drum machine and lift off 🛸

This would drive me off a cliff quickly.
Default settings or patches tend to really bad on many pedals as they aim to just showcase the possibilities rather than being useful.
I've got the E7 and if you turn the attack and mix all the way down - say, to 8 or 9 o'clock - and turn of the appregiator effect (do this for every 'mode' and save) you get much more playable sounds and a much more useable pedal full stop. This way it actually operates much more like an octave pedal but with a range of organ-y higher pitch sounds.
Ah, and yes - it did sound much better with a reverb. Something I'll be exploring today. Along with a fuzz ;-)

I was very dissapointed with this pedal. I had high hopes for it and it does give out a few nice tones but nothing like I'd hoped for. I should have returned it but life got in the way. Maybe I can find a use for it but what I had hoped for was a guitar I could use as a synth controller. Instead I get disconnected synth sounds than have little to do with what I'm doing on the guitar. The mix selection helps a lot, but it still doesn't sound like what I'd hoped for.

Certainly the E7 on it's own with the mix turned all the way up sounds rather bad, so needs more effects & the mix turned back so you have more of the dry guitar & it would be far more useful

Probably would have got one otherwise, it's hard to find affordable synth pedals.

HA!! love the Numan riffs ..cuz it's a synth pedal . I know this completely defeats the purpose of it , but I wanna see what it does to a synth . Free arpeggiator for those of us that can only afford cheap synths . The only thing I think it would benefit from is a resonance control , but where the heck would you fit another knob on that thing .
That Ambiance reverb sounds like it wants on the shoegaze board , but I think it's not really afford-y enough .

mrNobody100 I’ll check the settings on it. UA-cam has been auto inserting midroll ads and I have to turn them off manually. Maybe I messed that up.
I had the boss sy300 and MIDI. That mooer arpeggiator is garbage. I bought a used casio keyboard into Alesis nanopiano. Just need to learn to play keys better.
