- We completely reorganized the studio today, so we're going live because we can. We're going to jam on some newer (to us) pedals from Mooer's Dual Switch Series.

I’m just so happy the old format is back!
We all are!!! 🎉🎉
More, please. Me likes.
now all we need is a bassist. :)
Absolutely, complete with the old jokes too 😁
JHS sells so many Notaklön they have no time to make videos and then they finally start catching up and we get videos. so, what if we never bought any jhs pedals ever again? then they would have to do videos everyday!
It's win / win. Or maybe lose / win, or lose / lose
I just love JHS videos!
Who's with me? ;-)
I just bought my first JHS PEDAL! WOOOHOO! It's a 3 Series Screamer and it's UNBELIEVABLE! I can't believe I got this for $65 brand new. Easily my favorite OD pedal currently.
If this is what one can get from JHS's "basic" pedals, I can ONLY IMAGINE what your premium pedals sound like. I'm a JHS fan for life at this point. I honestly can't believe how great this thing is. 👍👍👍👍 None of my pedals sound like this. None have a tone control this usable. This thing is SICK!
Welcome to the rabbit hole. Pedals are fun.
A great pedal! A lot of range/variety in the drive control!
Try thier lucky cat. It's awesome
For apartment/headphones people, stereo is a must, it expands your world. Welcome to the headspace.
Great jams. The drum sounds are killing.
Really enjoying this format.
Loving the lives, short, long, halfway…it’s all good! 🙏🏼💜✨
Josh’s ability to create jams w*llie nillie is incredible
As long as you guys keep doing lives, doesn't matter if they are 30 min long or 3638 hours long...
some of the best jams you've ever done
I came for the effects, stayed for my new favorite song
The jam from 20:00 was epic!
Wow I love the intro tune...my favourite ever!!
I've had both of these on my board for several months now and they’re fantastic. I’ve cycled through various reverbs & delays (Fathom, Slo, Arp-87, Belle Epoch, etc) and the Mooers kicked them all off. They sound great and are just insanely convenient, especially with the ability to store the presets.
Both of these pedals have been on the wish list for a good while and i thing this is my sign to buy em
From what I understand, ping pong was invented with reel-to-reel stereo tape machines back late 50s, early 60s, probably. Using a mono tape machine was what gave rockabilly and early rock-N-roll the slapback effect. For ping pong, Instead of feeding back a certain amount of the playback head into the recording head on the same channel to get feedback delay, you cross the channel inputs over ch1 out -> ch2 in and vice versa. This was most likely done originally to double the amount of delay possible (2x the distance between record and playback head instead of 1x), but if you played back the resultant recording you would immediately hear stereo "ping-pong". If you had a stereo desk, and were recording to stereo, this could be done live with no problems.
I got that reverb about a year ago and absolutely love it for the price--the shimmer really blew me away for a pedal that price and been recommending them.
I was about to get a second hand Boss delay until I saw this, now I have a D7. Most excellent, thanks for this.
Nice opening jam fellas🤘😝
I think I like the long versions a little more, but l'm just happy to be here
Brian Wilson was deaf in one ear. The fact that he used ping-pong echo is testament to his imaginative genius.
He is 'almost' deaf, not completely deaf
Why though? He can still hear the entire delay. So it’s not hard to imagine what it sounds like if you can hear it.
Now it’s how we all feel at the end of the day. Thanks 🤙
These are fantastic pedals and are both after my Tonex pedal - they hold 14 presets each ! So you might need a post it note to remember the patch color and number ala Y2 or P4 for Yellow or Purple mode effects. Very easy to use and tweak. So good I wish they had USB to backup/restore presets. But great no hassle pedals !
Great stuff. Especially the liquid delay jam xo
Good to see the band back together. I'm an x horrible guitarist and still love the tech / live music. These vids hit both nerves perfectly. Welcome back Nick. Where is that sweet sweet bass?
This is a great video. Thanks, JHS.
The JHS show has talked a lot about Flamma pedals before. Flamma are just rehoused Mooer pedals. So the Flamma Delay and Reverb and the same as the version 1's of these pedals. The main difference I see is the dedicated tap versus holding down the footswitch for tap. If that's not a deal breaker to you, you could get the Flamma and save $50.
These Mooer ones also have double the preset sounds available. The flamma ones usually just have 7 (judging by my FS02 anyway). Also the flammas don't have the ability to cycle the presets with footswitches, only by pressing the small preset button, and the standard FS02 reverb doesnt have a freeze/infinite reverb function like the mooer. The FS22 Ekoverb does on the tap switch though.
Basically, you're getting a bunch of extra functionality with the Mooer
Yeah, Flammas are very nice sounding. Though I bought the delay after seeing the show, it died on me after 2 months... I'm not sure these digital Chinese pedals are worth it if you don't get a reasonable warranty and return policy.
@@lucasgoncalves2414 same kind of issue here. One side of the stereo out from my Reverb randomly craps out. Kinda annoying since I used to use it as a signal splitter to go back to my amp and cab and the other signal to my cab sim and interface

That last jam was cool. The spoken words reminded me of Breadcrumb Trail by Slint or Creation Story by Lungfish.
fr
25:44 now that is a golden sample right there.
There's a fuzz delay setting on the Mooer Ocean Machine. These pedals are pretty cool. Affordable and versatile stereo, great for studio use.
The ocean machine is why I’ll never buy Mooer again! No support or updates to add key controls. I don’t support companies that deliver abandonware.
@@thomasrobertson4213 I totally get that. I bought mine for 80 bucks, a real bargain! Tried it, it was fun, sold it for the double (still below what they go for used), and got another pedal that I was on my wish list.
I love all Live shows!
I bought both of these pedals after buying the A7 Ambiance verb and preferring it to the Old Blood Noise Endeavours Dark Star. I decided to get the upgrade and go stereo with the same algorithms for the verb, and the delay seemed like a no-brainer off the back of it. The delay is gorgeous but the verb really is something special for the price
I think they sound great..great video.
I had the original (smaller size) D7 back when I had a pedalboard. It was a great pedal. It replaced a mini flashback 2 and frankly kicked the crap out of it.
BTW the slow gear mode is kind of a Autoswell type thing, but just on the delays. Or you could do what I did, drop the time to zero and the crank the mix all the way up.
These were really cool!
you guys are so trippy I can't believe you guys have never done psychedelic drugs lol your jams are all amazing. very talented impromptu jamzzzz
There must be a link between (chinese FX builders) Mooer and Flamma. I have a Flamma FS03 delay (certainly influenced by Josh's video on Flamma pedal)---and the names of the delay presets in Mooer D7 are the same. Even more obvious was the name of the TWEAK parameter "Slow Gear" (which doesn't mean anything to Josh or myself). Even if they are one in the same (Mooer = Flamma) it's hard to disagree with the ~$100 value (stereo) delays. If anyone wants a slightly cheaper, slightly simpler version of D7-----try the Flamma FS03!
I like the short live events.
I'm looking at the Mooer E7 to pair with The Crayon. I'm big into chiptune but bit crushers aren't that great for that. They're fine, i just don't know if square and triangle waves work well with guitar.
This series has a cab sim, too, I believe. Anyone know what that sounds like? How does it compare to the Walrus ACS1, for example? Are there more in this series?
what a great time to be a musician =
I dig the Crocs.
OK yes I love the budget time and pedal and I love the long lives too
Sick opening jam
wouldve liked to hear some of those full wet. also i'm wondering if you can use the delays as just chorus or flanger or fuzz or whatever by going full wet and putting the delay time to zero and the repeats to one??
Way to take it home at the end. Nice
Donner had/has? the White Tape Delay that's 2 delay circuits in a single housing. Each with their own dedicated input & output jacks. Talk about stereo delay. Pretty sure it'll do ping pong and all sorts of stuff.
The reading at the end was great needed reverb and delay though
I loved the D7 as a "but we have a delay with presets at home" placeholder until I upgraded to Halo and DD200. But these are cool and could be adequate for some players and gateway for others. This sounds pretentious and I didn't mean it that way. Sorry..
Addison, please come back. 🥺
agreed. thay or someone else that really plays bass. the looping is a let down
Yes, I feel this
the drummer looks sick
"That's how I feel at the end of the day!"
Still like drum sounds
you only played the Fuzz Delay sound you have not heard for a second, but it really gave me vibes of the solo Steve Howe did in Owner of LOnely Heart.
Trevor Rabin was the guitarist on Owner of a Lonely Heart. Steve Howe was out of the band by that time. Cool sound regardless!
Where can we get those power jacks you guys use??? I've looked everywhere for something like that. 🤷
Beanie giving off Devo Energy Dome vibes.
You guys ever tried the Mooer GE300?
So nick is really reminding me of mick the trainer from rocky today!
yo i dig the bass sound
Ohh I soooo missed the old format!
Longer lives please!
my heart rate dropped to below 50bpm during that last jam....
ill take any format ...just keep em coming.
What's the make model of that Epi bass?
The second demo tone reminds me of a more tame Terra Echo
If the
Shoe gaze fits!
One of the other channels who does ambient guitar videos covered these pedals nearly 2 years ago, give or take. I never bought them and ended up with all Alabs pedals. I think the Alabs Cetus, Timeslip and Novadrift are prettt damn good. Punch above better than Mooer or Flamma and are poor man's Walrus pedals.
I have the reverb. The reverse really is pretty good, the spring gets....weird. The plate is solid, hall and rooms are decent, and you can filter the tone enough that the shimmer isn't TOO crazy. The mod algorithm isn't quite as nice as a classic Boss modverb, but it is good enough for how versatile the pedal is. Some of the more "effect-y" reverbs are a little much, very situational, but thats fine for those ones, I guess.
R7x2 on...
...Guitar: 7.5/10. It's no strymon or Meris, but it's more than good enough for how much it does and how little it costs.
...Synth: 7/10. Doesn't clip at line-levels, but just barely. If I i send a big saw out of a monosynth through a ZVEX SHO boost into an overdrive, the R7 clips. And the controls get a little touchy, so you can tell that it works at line level, but it's not what they had in mind. The filters are great to help tame the sound enough to keep it usable at a variety of mix% and decay lengths.
...Bass: 5/10. If you are one of those rare people who uses reverb on bass, like I sometimes do, this WILL do it, but it is not the best tool for the job. It doesn't cut low from the dry through, but some of the algorithms feel unusable with all that low end no matter how I work the filter controls. It's either not there at all, or it's mud. Not particularly nice mud, either.
Pro: I love the ease of the presents. At the beginning of a set I just pick my algorithm for the song, get it set, save it, and it's so easy to set and save a good baseline, and very easy to tweak from there. Scrolling through the algorithms with the pedals is also very easy, click both at once then the lights blink and left is -1 right is +1 on the list.
Con: The knobs are very touchy. Really, it feels like there might only be 64 steps of adjustment on each knob, not 128. Idk what it actually is, but thats the feeling i get. On some of the algorithms that need delicate adjustment to not be overwhelming, there's just no way I can turn the knob to get it just where i want it.
It's not awesome for bass.... Like, it works, and I've used it, but its WORK to get it set right to be there, but not too much. The above complaint about the touchiness of the knobs feels worse when working with bass. Maybe its just that I have active circuitry, so the signal is pretty hot coming in, but this thing is fine with my mono-synths, not mindblowing but really good. Just doesn't love my bass, or maybe it's just my bass amps. Whatever though, I'm sure some people think its sacrilege to play bass with reverb anyway.
You know you can use larger knobs for more "resolution" in your adjustments, right? The bigger they are, the easier it is to turn them in smaller intervals. So you could probably dial it in with a bigger knob.
Imagine if you had the huge knob at the beginning of BTTF. You could really dial it in with something like that lol
@@J.C... no.....that would not help this pedal. When I say "hard to dial in," I mean impossible. I mean, the tiniest movement takes it too far. I have gotten vice/clamping pliers on it to aid in adjustment, give it a "knob" with a 6-inch radius! All to no avail.
SOLD
Some Adrian Belew I'm inspired guitar riffing in that first jam.
I miss the dude that used to play bass with you guys.
I love the format of these pedals: a simple design with presets and tap tempo. However, I find Mooer's tape and analog delay algorithm's to be... lacking (💩)
Shouldn't y'all be building Notaklons? ;)
Josh Scott, I'm glad you didn't die in 3rd grade.
You could buy an Ocean Machine for under $200 and get an extra delay and looper included.
1:30-1:35
What is going on in that phrase ?
Nick....i need drum loops!
I want a box for my built nota klon! It doesn’t fit in the box it came in Josh!!!!😂😂😂
Where do they sell this pedal at? lol
at least on amazon!
@@jhspedalsthank you! Y’all are awesome. 🔥🔥🔥
1994 DALLAS SHOT SHOW?! Whoa.
Why can't someone just do the Yamaha SPX-90 reverse and reverse gated reverb in a pedal properly?
And symphonic
You’ve got a bit of a Spinal Tap situation on bass .. Addison went on a musical journey and never visits, then Driller disappeared too …
have the mini size d7, not my fave. this looks better
🐄 💨 MOO
Hey! Jim Morrison, give the poetry a rest. Trying to hear the pedals within the context of the track.
It's "Josh Gaze".
Oh no I’ve been eyeing the reverb forever now it will never be available again
Glad you’re playing around with them for us tho either way
Look who likes stereo.
how do you feel about sam ash going out of business?
That sucks. I watched family friends lose their music business when Guitar Center opened here. It was called The Strring Shop and specialized in guitars.
So things like this are bittersweet. It sucks seeing an option disappear. Especially one with such a history. But it also makes me wonder how many mom n pop businesses THEY put out of business by moving in somewhere.
We don't have a Sam Ash here but the oldest music store in this state resides here and I'd hate to see them pack up after 100+ years.
@@J.C... especially in this economy..alot shit is closing down..its depressing. sam ash was my go to for drum heads and sticks when i was playing shows and a rad chill spot with other musicians...now theres no goos side jobs when there's no gigs
Red and the orphans
19mins in and this gets seriously girthy
👀
"Budget"
AI digital delay answers need some work 😂
Who punched Nick?
I know! I was here to comment similarly.
I’ve never thought he looked stoned, but he certainly looks like he had a rough weekend fist fight.
@@smithjones9403 lol I thought he'd had a good cry (like maybe he watched the notebook) but it's only the right eye, so clearly it's fight club.
It’s pronounced mow-er
Has anyone stopped to consider that those Mooer pedals are ugly?
too much talking crap just give us the demo please - you guys aren't particularly funny or entertaining
