Remilia is already vanished or in a comatose state. She comes back somehow as the last survivor with partial memories and sets out to stop the LW and bring back everyone in the SDM. It's implied that this is the Remilia at the very beginning of the game that transports Lossy (the player character) into the L1 universe of Touhou to help eradicate the Lost Word.
