I am an experienced IT professional with 12 years of work ex. You are doing a great job! Your videos especially on company reviews helped me a lot while making choices. Keep doing it :) I recently got an offer from one of the FAANG’s in London and after careful consideration declined it. So I agree with your comment there that for senior roles someone working in a reputed company (Even NON FAANG) would not find it financially lucrative to move to UK, London even to a FAANG. However I believe the tax slabs for RSU are same 40% (below 150k ) plus National Insurance, which many employers pay on your behalf. Also one angle worth mentioning is that changing jobs in India is easier considering there is no Visa sponsorship and for someone who wishes to stay in India in the longer term(or plans to comeback) it’s not a great choice as they lose out on pension schemes in UK for which you anyway pay.For someone who wishes to get PR and settle it might be a great choice. Unless you get the PR anyone would find it harder to switch jobs in UK compared to India. So that’s the real choice according to me.
May I ask you how much was the total compensation you were offered for a 12 years experience at one of the FAANG companies in London? Also, regarding the RSUs, in some cases the employers delegate the National Insurance Contribution to the employees in UK. Due to that, the taxes on stocks are way more than the taxes on salary.
