Best thing about this video? Jordan looks so happy. The smile on her face is the smile of someone who feels totally comfortable in her own skin, and knows she has two of the best friends ever. :)
The amusing thing is when my friend showed me this video (without me knowing any of the subject matter), as soon as it loaded I immediately said "Holy shit! What happened to Lee's hair!" followed about twenty seconds later by "Oh, Jordan's a woman. Cool."
This is actually quite a brilliant way to show how ridiculous some of the questions trans people get asked are, without getting accusatory and confrontational.
Sorry, serious comment: I saw this for the first time probably just a couple of weeks after it came out and thought it was hilarious and brilliant. A year later, I was in therapy for my gender dysphoria, and had come out to friends. This morning I thought of this song/bit and thought I'd watch it again for the first time since starting my transition. ...yep, still fucking epic. Brilliant AoA, and both congrats and thanks Jordan on your transition and for helping this girl to finally face herself in the mirror with hope and pride. :) Oh, and Lee - you totally rock the aerodynamic look.
Hey, random cishet dude in Toronto, Canada here. Glad to see you're transitioning with pride! Whatever you are comfortable with, own it! I dunno, I don't feel comfortable listening to Lee anymore. When I look at him I expect the vocie of a bald man come out of his mouth, but it doesn't happen and it's super awkward.
So glad finally someone drew some attention to that issue. I can so relate to that and finally, finally I can feel a little more secure now, knowing that there are celebrities now that actually stand by what they truly are and don't try to hide or mask it. Back when Elton John got his hair job I felt very insecure, feeling like I should probably do the same and continue to live a lie, knowing that it would only be fake, knowing that I would be lying to myself and others, but now I can finally say no to the rug I have been pondering. I'm bald. And I'm proud. I dare to say it loud now, and Lee, thank you! Oh, and grats to Jordan, too, for becoming who she really is. Jordan, you're an awesome looking woman.
"Truly" is a huge subject. If you want to go all the way, then everybody is truly God. 😉 And then you can go back and realize that since God is all-powerful, imperfect fractions of the whole can pick whatever truth they want; it works for playing a role.
As a trans woman myself I gotta say this song fills me with such joy. Mainly how happy she looks on stage! I'm so happy for Jordan, plus the way they answered the questions trans women get all the time is absolutely brilliant.

It is one of my go to comedy songs that cheers me up no matter what. Comedy gold. Only tonight have I thought to look for other Axis material. And so only tonight have I found this. I thought it was a wind up and a brilliantly acerbic cut at intolerance. Then I googled it and found out Jordan was in fact trans. That put it in a new light. future trans girl says what

Well luckily she doesn't have to change her name. That's pretty convenient.
As someone who is trans in the other direction, I'm a little jealous she was assigned a unisex name at birth... If only! Ha ha. At least I'm not socially transitioning on a literal stage, though! She's got some guts, yo.
Krotor Kreepy You sound like the kind of person who blacks out all their windows with newspapers and gets all their groceries delivered.
Chill, dude.
Smoke a bowl. Hang out. BREATHE.
Jack KissMyAspergers If I could afford it I would but I have a job (ironically at a grocery store) and need to go out and work in the real world for money.
Also I'd smoke a bowl but I don't have nor have I ever had access to marijuana.
BUT I do really appreciate how chill you are, so I'm sorry for being confrontational.
Krotor Kreepy Aw, it's okay, bud. You sounded really freaked/stressed out, I hope everything's okay. :(
+Jack KissMyAspergers fellow trans aspie!! Hey!!
Revisiting this after six years and fucking hell, it's so so good. I can't imagine how they could have addressed Jordan's transition in a smarter, funnier way.
