They finally got a laugh from the “40 years” gag!
You'd have thought that as they get older, they'd get less reaction to that one, not more. But I do like it.
they do that joke for more than 10 years without changing the number hahaha
and it only took 40 years
Can someone explain?
@@leafyleafeon3825 On other videos of AoA performing this song they introduce themselves as a group who have been performing for “40 - 50 years” and I always thought it was kinda funny but I never heard an audience reaction to that line until I watched this video. :)
I like how they actually use different songs each time they perform this
Because there’s so many songs that use the chords I think they literally don’t have time to do all the songs haha so they have to rotate
Many are the same though
@@whoever_81 well I mean, they're ALL the same technically
@@z-beeblebrox Yup...
Was expecting this.
Love how they change some of the songs when they preform this in different places
Because if they used all the song every time, they'd be there for days
It is nice to watch each if the these videos and see the differences. Keeps it fresh
Didn't know until I saw this one😅
love that marcy playground made it in
Wow, those two always forget about 4 chords. Every time they do this, they just dont remember.
Just lucky they pick it up so quickly after making themselves look so foolish.
Yeah for like the past 40, 30, 15, 22, 50 years they keep forgetting damn
Just as they always forget they wrote Bird-Plane!
It seems you keep forgetting you already have seen the sketch. :-)
Elpidio Manuel Alvarenga Ah shit.., they’re on to us, boss!
Australian Jack Black is dope
Except that she doesn't look anything like Jack Black anymore.
@@unclebozo9845 I think you mean he lol
She transitioned to female, so 'she' is Jordan's correct pronoun now.
@@unclebozo9845 Uh, what? Really? I had no idea lol.
Mike Barksdale mate are you saying jack black ain’t talented? Sort your hearing out
Never thought Id see this video in a better quality than 240p. Awesome
They also have a professional music video for it! :)
I keep coming back to that 240p video anyway. :-)
Ought to be an annual Grammy Award for Four Chord Song of the Year. Imagine the length of the nomination list.
And Ed Sheeran will still win
@@juanmorales2719because he literally makes the same 4 chord statement.
@@juanmorales2719 Unlikely.
You can sing the lyrics from any The Chainsmokers' song to the melody of any The Chainsmokers' songs.
Private Idaho for that I would need to know the lyrics from any chainsmokers song and the melody from any chainsmokers song.
Because they're shitty djs with ghost producers
I saw the original video when I was like 11 and I stupidly didn’t realize how young they were and believed it when they said were together for 40 years
At age 11, everyone older that 20 is 'really old'. :-)
So Sheldon Cooper's missing brother, Australian Jack Black and Chicken Little made a band...
That should have been their band name... long i know but still
Sound like beginning of a good joke :)
Dang! 😂
The band manager takes one look at them and says, “What is this, a joke?”
Imagine doing one skit for 20 years and people still coming to it like its something new.
Same 😉
They change songs so not same exactly tbh
Yeah, like any band playing their four-chord-songs for decades.
Funny! The audience response/laugh always hits when they get to Land Down Under.
You can see people slowly forgetting about Barbie Girl though. Shame.
I like seeing how their singing voices progressed from the video I watched 13 years ago. This is still a super entertaining video!
I'd argue the guy on keyboard can't quite hit the high note of Take On Me for as long as he used to in older clips of this song
UA-cam HQ: Hey boss, you seeing this?
Boss: wow…that’s a thousand copyright strikes in one video.
still get goose bumps when he jumps in with Can you feel the love
this song makes you feel so good, they truly are the AXIS OF AWESOME!
They finally got a laugh at the 40 years gag
Thank you for performing this tribute ❤
2015 and already socially distancing. These guys were ahead of their time!
This reminds me of the book by Jimmy Cauty and Bill Drummond called The Manual (How to Have a Number One the Easy Way). The KLF wrote this book about how to make a number one hit and supposedly used their own book that produce some classic dance anthems from the early to mid 90s.
3:09 is when the perfect melody starts ❤
When he pulled out the kazoo I fucking lost it
She's awesome.
@@msolec2000 she?
@@user-xx6qi4rt1v Yes
that takes talent, folks
This video just gave me so much nostalgia i wanna cry
"Oh, Canada..." Just freaking killed me 😂
Oh my god that take on me high note was beautiful....
crazy talent
Dang, a four-hour show in a little over 5 minutes! It must be that new audio compression format :)
The funniest thing is i love all those songs
Do you think you might understand why it's called 'Pop' music yet?
@@omardude39 is it because I pop my eyes out crying from Barbie Girl
That's why they do it.
Pop(ular) music
Gonna go make a playlist with all these songs now 👏
amazing and great performance with this guys
- No woman no cry
- Yeah momma this surely is a dream
-Don't tell me your sorry cause your not
-Well I guess this is growing up
-I come from the land down under...
Just thought it would fit the cadence of that part.
I love when he brought out the kazoo. 😂
This is amazing.....
I didn't know Jack Black, Mike Dirnt's accountant cousin, and Mike Dirnt with black hair performed together
😂😂😂 easily the best
the composition and compilation is perfect
talent!
This song is so amazing
I kinda miss the days when I would get just one song stuck in my head lmao
The urge to sing 'Lion Sleeps Tonite' is just a whim away. Mona mona, do do do do do
Love you guys!
That is brilliant
Wow! Quelle belle découverte!!
UNREAL!
Never seen an audience rock so hard
I would love a playlist of all these songs
I like this version, and chicken little really shines
I have all these songs downloaded!!!! They're so awesome!!!
Who could ever forget. Sheldon cooper, jack black and barney stinson with glasses
These guys really are talented, and are really funny!
These guys are good!
i loved this! XD
They will update this song every single time and in the future someone will make 1000 songs with the same 4 chords.
Oh gods, the goosebumps! ;w;
i have seen like five different performances of them doing this and i STILL never hear the guitar.....
They also always stand in front of the drummer
Fave
Late to the party but its still poppin'
This is great!
Лучшие! :)) Молодцы ребята! Это вся наша жизнь! :)
I love that he's playing a BC Rich guitar for pop songs haha
Pure brilliance!!🤣👏👏
Yes.
Love it
Awesome
enjoyed this.
I love how they just take different songs every now and then
Yeah, there are still so many 4 chord songs to choose from :') not a good sign for pop music. It's been stagnating in creativity for a while. Since the 'hit singles" are written by a handful of people and performed by many artists bound to a record label. Like Skylar grey she probably has more writing credits than lots of other female artists. She basically wrote lots of Rihanna songs for her.
and there are all of Christophe Maé songs in France! X)
Mind. Blown :o
Iść w strone słońca ..it was a hit of a Polish Band 2 + 1
I came from spill

That Hight Note.. Jesus!!!!!
Dang, they must get like 1% of royalties for this
Nice!!!! 🎉
Thank you
Amazing this is just amazing wow😮😧😯😱
Best audience eva.
The "Corona - Extra" Commercial is quite funny at those times :-))) ROTFL
Mind blown , now it makes sense why a lot of songs sound the same to me. I thought I was just imagining things
That's crazy omg
Does anyone know where I can get a song list for this particular version?
awesome ;)
How come these guys change up the pattern of the songs? This is like the third different version i've heard. I loved singing along to the original!
That's the point. The songs are all interchangeable. It doesn't matter, in which order they play them, and they could use many, many more.
It's not just the point, they will obviously make decisions depending on the audience. The original will have australian bands nobody knows in Montreal, so they swapped those for bands/songs that are locally well known.
Also, I mean, if you are doing this again and again you will welcome any change^^
@@Puschit1 Most obvious one is changing Waltzing Matilda to O Canada
These three were social distancing before it was necessary.
It was necessary at all and didn't change anything other than give people control who want to do it through fear.
@@chadjustice8560 shut up
@@EPrimeify Don't like facts huh don't have an argument to why we should? I know you don't because there is nothing to back it up with but hey thanks for the comment 9 months later
“I’m a mother f&@kin bird plane!”
I miss that version, too! Haha
ohhh Caaaanadaaa
As in You're Beautiful, these chords are in one part, verse, bridge or chorus, then the song changes. Brilliant though, they managed to start from the 2nd bar as well, so to make it VI IV I V instead of I V VI IV. I bet in the future there'll be plenty of more songs with these chords. It's not just pop though, they've been used in classical music as well. They just sound good, nothing you can do about it. Sound, arrangement, vocals, lyrics, instruments and the lot make all the difference. Try I VI IV V or I V IV V and you can come up with hundreds of songs for each progression. Not to mention the blues progression which works for most blues and rock and roll hits of the 50s 60s 70s
what’s the title of the song having lyrics of “control yourself...take only what you need...”?
'kids' by mgmt!
Oh boy if you didn't know mgmt a world of wonder awaits you. I am kind of jealous.
They added more!
It's a little different every time they play it
Woooo. :/
But they cut some of the best. I really liked the waltzing mathilda and the canvas bag part.
@@KiraFriede Yes and Beatles: Mother Mary... Sorry cant remember the name😕😕
@@hakansoderholm6514 it’s Beatles - Let it Be 😊
"Check me out I'm a bird plane" just doesn't have the same ring to it.

Cool

2020:)
It's like a live Neil Cicierega song
Since Axis of Awesome actually did "Birdplane" their excuse that they've never done a four chord song doesn't hold water.
*Insert Rainer Wolfcastle "that's the joke" meme here*
That is....literally the point.
Awesome they studied the Ripley Method! Lol
Hey soul sister, ain't that Mr. Mister on the radio, stereo, the way you move ain't fair you know...

ah yes, the famous horse, warthog, and meerkat rock band. fantastic.
