Being a high porosity girl myself, I've had my battles with darn protein. What I've learned was, My hair hates protein treatments! But my hair loves protein if I use it in small doses. Like some Weeks I'd seal with avocado oil or use a moisturizer with a silk or wheat protein in it but not a moisturizer that's focuses mainly on protein, if my moisturizer has protein in it, I seal with a moisturizing oil.Big doses of protein freaks my high porosity hair out. In my high porosity hair journey, this was perhaps the hardest lesson for me to learn. Maybe this could help someone else too! 😊 🤷🏽♀️
Thank you so much for sharing Tani! ❤️ It's so interesting how high porosity hair varies across the spectrum. It's great that you realized your hair doesn't need monthly protein treatments, however, small doses are perfect. Some people with HP hair may use henna/cassia as a substitute for protein treatments. It really depends, but the main thing is to listen to your hair and how it responds to protein. The biggest lesson I've learned is that all protein treatments are NOT created equal. There are light, medium, and strong ones. It's very important to assess how 'damaged' your hair is before selecting one to use because the wrong one can do more harm than good.
Yes !!my fine high porosity hair is protein sensative so I don’t do any at home treatments anymore I just get the quality ones done at the salon and focus on mouisture at home. It’s been a game changer for me!
I thought your hair therapy wrap would live forever! Loll I've started spraying ACV on top of my deep conditioner + regular body heat and it's been the most effective thing to smooth the cuticle and retain moisture all week. I been feeling like a lower porosity girlie! 😂 Your hair looks so amazing and full. 💜
LOL I thought so too!!! 😭 I’m so sad they’re not making them anymore. The website is no longer available. ☹️ Oh wow!!! That’s an interesting technique. I haven’t heard of or tried that before. I will have to give it a go & record my thoughts. Thank you so much! ❤️❤️❤️
@@AfroKhadisiac You had me looking for one ages ago because hotheads do work but not for long, they're heavy and mine definitely go to cooking...and burning once in the microwave loll 🥴 Yes! Gray hair that wouldn't curl more than a type 2 wave for years immediately coiled up with that step! Hope it works out for you and the protein recovery.
Yes! 💯 braid out🤗My hair seem to hold moisture just a little longer when down. I just respray and rebraid on the 3rd day! Also my hair have changed as I have gotten older 🤔I thought it just me🥰
Yessss braid outs are winning!! 🙌🏾😊 Your routine sounds so simple. I have to use more products when I refresh, but I'm glad that I can get another 3-4 days out of the style. ; Oh wow! Have you noticed a texture change with just certain areas of your hair or all of your hair?! I find it so interesting how our hair changes over the yrs. Considering how everything else changes, it makes sense but it still seems shocking lol.
This is my prepoo process as well….Ayurvedic oil on my scalp and coconut oil on my strands on dry hair. I don’t do overnight tho, mainly due to poor planing, lol. But I sit under a heat cap for about an hour and then proceed with washing. My hair loves this. Definitely flourishing. Thank you for sharing!❤
I love your videos. I think i finally found my favorite hair youtuber😊 I recently accepted the fact that i do have high porosity hair (and they're fine too). How long do you keep the braids in before you take them down? I used to flat twist my hair after deep conditioning, but it looks like my hair isn't having it anymore, makes my ends thinner
Good to see you back!😊 I also have noticed that my texture has changed over the years since I’ve been natural. My hair has if anything gotten thicker in the back and very fine in the front.
So good to see you back 🌸 I have the same roughness/damage to my edges and nape. I figured that the scarf and bonnet rub on them. Maybe try to pull them down your forehead, annoying but made a difference for me. I also moisturize and oil those areas daily
Good to see you too Haneen! 💗 Hmm, I'm not too sure. I feel like my ends would also be affected because I pineapple my hair. I don't have dry ends though. It's definitely interesting how the texture has changed. I've just accepted the fact that my hair requires more moisture these days so I try to make sure that I'm using the right products & be consistent with it!
Maybe I should try doing more braid outs. Two twist are jus more faster and I take longer on braid outs. I haven't tried oils as a prepoo. Jus the African pride one. It makes my hair feel so good.
It definitely doesn't hurt to try it out and see how you like your results! I find that twist outs work better for my hair when it's short; I've heard a lot of good things about the African Pride prepoo. How long do you leave it on your hair?
You won't believe how much this helps. Haven't found a better tutorial for high porosity hair. Thank you sm!!

Hey Sofia! Thanks so much for sharing! ❤️ By the time we have an understanding of our hair, it changes to a completely different texture lol.

Do you still like Miche ??
I do! Their shampoo worked really well for me and so did the deep conditioner and eucalyptus oil. I might restock for Black Friday!
