Petty bureaucrats acting like they own the joint. Fire the people who set up the eviction.

The house should not be called uninhabitable because they do not have running water and electricity. This house DOES HAVE RUNNING WATER AND ELECTRICITY. This house just has electricity from solar panels and running water from rain collection. It has electricity and water they just do not come from the city which is probably greedy . Has anyone seen the actor Ed Begley Jrs house in California? His house is almost completely off the grid with solar panels and wind turbines used for electricity and he also collects rain water in huge barrels and uses it in his house. His home is no different from this womans but they do not bother him.Someone needs to contact Ed Begley Jr to get him to help this woman

That's so cold blooded and inhumane in general let alone un-american. She has it right by adjusting her lifestyle to not feed the system which is creating so much suffering with good decent everyday people. She will prevail.

"If she can prove" not if they can prove against her guess "innocent till proven guilty" is another right that is gone.

Paraphrasing the reporter: If she can prove that she can sustain herself . . . Look at the woman! Is that not proof enough! She is sustaining herself quite nicely.
We all live on company land and must shop at the company store.

why does this woman have to prove anything to anybody?
you now have to submit your lifestyle to the local government?
    wtf?

Did I hear her say International Law? WTF! And the news station should be held accountable for outing this woman and find her a new place or fix her home to code whatever that entails. What a bunch of crap. The news kept it secret for a minute!

If that is the case, when the power goes out we should all sue our cites for creating uninhabitable homes.

  • @jackchorn
    @jackchorn 11 років тому +1

Interesting. So if a family can't pay their power bill and the power company shuts it off then the city then is required to find the home uninhabitable.
Interesting how certain issues are enforced to the point of surpassing the law and violating rights. While other issues such as mold contamination are ignored and called simply "possible allergy problems".
    Why does this always happen?
Small farmers being arrested and farm closed for raw milk, while the agri farmers pass contaminated meat knowingly into school lunch program?
People charged for capturing rainwater because its illegally taking resources while nestle co. sucking the water tables dry to sell water in plastic bottles for profit are untouchable.
It goes on and on, it does make one wonder who orders the policing of such issues.

This is not rural America, this is a city of 161,000 residents and 200,000 in winter. these are less than 1/4 acre lots. you cannot have people living in close proximity without public utilities. We were not fine before modern plumbing as others have said. Typhus, Typhoid fever, cholera, and amoebic dysentery were prevalent in those days. There is not enough rainfall during October thru May to support refilling (2) 40 gallon containers, The city has ordinances and restrictions that were in place before she decided to go off grid. We have seen this experiment in history before of everyone living without public utilities in close quarters it was the Plague over in Europe 200 million dead. Those of you that are commenting are not familiar with this particular city and No she doesn't have the rights that some of you are claiming she has. If someone buys a property that has a restriction on Mobile homes and decides they want to have a mobile home they don't have the right to put it there. In this case the city has it in its charter that everyone must hook up to the public utilities, it is not an option. She was a former realtor and realizes all this. There are a lot of people who have private wells and septic that are also being forced into hooking up to utilities in this city. Again most of you will not agree with this but this was a rule before these wells and septic systems were put in. The land was built and developed by two brothers when incorporated in 1970 these were all in the master plan. Individuals have to "buy in" to the master plan or get variances. This woman is operating without a variance. So yes it is up to her to apply for one and prove she can maintain sanitary conditions. you may also want to look up this womans name on google and find out why she is on probation for 10 years and lost her real estate license. and then decide who is really responsible for taking peoples homes.

Well lady, they "chose" you because you decided to NOT live off the grid by going to the media the first time to flaunt the lifestyle you are choosing to live, in a community that must have running water and/or electricity by Cape Coral ordinance codes. You lady screwed up. There is more to this story than this piece here.

You can't force someone into going into business with someone else.... water company, or electric company etc....no matter what an ordinance states....that's fascist. Also, the ordinance goes against the state constitution as well as US constitution.
