I would have given that about half hour before i disconnected that cable. Tied 2 cables onto it, pulled that through and then pulled one back with original tied on (and a rope). Love the commitment though. Never give up, never surrender

I'm lost, the last person was an absolute tool to be honest! Baffled as to why they didn't leave a rope behind for the next guy if not for themselves when initially installing the first cable? Should just be common sense or some sort of unwritten rule amongst us 😭
Major issue if the rope coils around the cable in this circumstance, but I do agree a little bit of thought goes along way!!!

Nice job. When I pull through any conduit, I put some washing up liquid on the cable as it really helps pull through and stops it burning against any other cables in the conduit. Might come in handy.

Thank you, yes I am aware of this technique and I have some ‘yellow lube’ on the van but it makes such a mess and impossible to grip if it doesn’t go first time
Silicone spray is good and no mess
You can get a flexible end for the cobra helps sometimes on beds. You can also get a small cobra marrying end with another cobra pull through. Use a duct camera to help also. Nice job.

Just a tip, if you get a thick zip tie and fold it in a loop and tape it onto the cobra itll help when going round bends.

the zappi freeze possibility the Cat5/ lan/ 2 pairs of cat5 cable used a wrong pair, pin 1/2 should be a pair, pin 3/6 should be another pair, it is the matter of noise cancellation of twisted pair cat5 designed for
Love your videos, they are really honest! Something that maybe useful or not and I'm not sure if this client had battery storage but with a Hybrid PV and Battery system, to stop the Zappi draining the battery in ECO+ mode you need to set a small export margin of 50w. The setting is done here: Other Settings -> Advanced -> x x x x x -> Supply Grid -> Network -> Export Margin

At first I thought the duct was split and you were pushing into a void, great job on getting the cable in, some other sparks might have given up and clipped direct in the house lol.

Fair play didn’t think you would get that through the duct - last one I did had two pieces of separated duct instead of coupler not something , had to track where it was with a CAT and Genny then dig 🤦♂️

Also…..be good to see the process from initial enquiry, to handing over……including the bit where you assess the supply, earthing system and max demand etc. showing us the decision making process as to whether you need to notify the Network before or after installation.

Good video, for next time, keep dripping in some cable lube as you are feeding the cable through, massively improves the ability to pull cable through especially when there’s another cable already in there, we use the 3M lube and comes in 1L bottles.
If you’re stuck trying to push the rod through, tie a bit of tissue to a drawer string and vacuum it through the pipe 👍👍

Corrugated ducting is horrible … you want the corrugated but smooth surface on inside
Option B for me would be use the existing cable to pull through anew cable large enough to put a CU in the garage and have it completely separate to the house......and if possible a clothes line or rope if it fitted for future washing up liquid too to help
Which is a good option B if your prepared to pay for the larger cable and extra materials out of your own pocket? I done two quotes, one for the install I done and another for exactly what you said which was dearer and declined. Unfortunately not a bottomless pot of money on these jobs

When it comes to these things future proffing is what it's all about, hopefully though they never need to run anything else thought that as it definitely wasn't an easy task but that fish wire was an absolute god send.
Sorry meant to add even use the cable as a fish wire to add a rope and cable and bring it back, I was thinking it in my mind, have done that myself previously as the cable itself possible has a bit of a bend in it which was making the feed of your wire difficult......
As i do this with the cobra daily you can get a spring bullet to attach onto the cobra which gets around bends easily.
Then again use cable ties with tape to make a bulb shape to push through blockages.
When ducting is concerned, I opt for the plastic bag (or cotton handkerchief) on paracord and a vacuum cleaner method.

another suggestion is to get some fishing line - tie a small bag or such to the end and use a vacuum cleaner to suck the things through. also Lubing up the cable helps pulling it in - good work as usual

I've seen cable lads using cable ties on the cobra similar to how you put the cable on the end but with 2 ties

Nice! I don't know if that conduit is airtight, otherwise I'd suggest a carrier bag attached to some twine, and a hoover on the other end. Sucks it right through!

Great video and awesome install again mate! When we get stuck with the cobra, we get a small stuffing gland and tape it on the end. Just a thought if you ever get stuck again and it helps! Keep up the great work 👍🏻

Wow ive never seen a cobra in such good nick. Another way is draw sting, rubber glove and a hoover as some of the bends you cant get the cobra round, but a rubber glove with some draw string tied on and a hoover on the other end just sucks it straight through when you face this challenge at 2:15, probably hit a tight bend, yeah often just force you can get around it but it can be hard work and take longer for no reason, but since the other end had a box over it I get why you may not want to try this immediately
3:30 thatll be the final bend into the cupboard just like when you feed it from the house to garage, thats why you struggled, that too is often a problem, force would get you there eventually but since its not smooth ducting itll make it much harder as itll get caught at every slight bend, hoover, drawstring and glove job thatll be. Or the cobra should of come with a bigger bullet end, put that one on as then it may not get caught on all the ribbing on this type of duct work

Use a nail gun to punch plastic clips into the wooden wall plate when metal clips and screws would have better durability and taken same time to install yet get the 230v drill out to drill through the wall

Nice video mate. The only thing I’d say is the seal on the dome head stuffer should seal around the sheath…..and the rubber insert is closer to the dome head end than the locking nut end…….it looked like you stripped it back too far?
Hi mate thank you, I was waiting for someone to snag this 🤣 when I done the stuffer up you could just see the white inner sheath of the high tuff but you can’t see it on the film, I made sure it was right on site but I noticed you couldn’t see it when I was editing.

Just an ideal , Couldn’t you of just ran a larger cable into the existing DB?
Like a 10mm SWA and then used the existing hi-tuff as a draw too pull it through? and then could maybe pull a 10mm 3core and a Shielded Data cable for the CT?
As that EV Ultra stuff is expensive anyway, may of potentially saved time and maybe off set the materials cost? Just an idea anyway as I think re-pulling in the new cable with the existing one as a draw wire would have probably made it a lot quicker IMO?
Obviously you are there in real time but it was just how I saw it myself…. Disconnect existing tie it on and pull it through?

If using a cobra for save kind of job try using tape into shape of a small golf ball to go round the bends easier. I'm an Openreach engineer and it comes in handy can be a life saver sometimes

Is it a stupid question to ask why not pull the old cable through with a new one thats upto the job and fit a consumer unit in the garage. I'm sure there's a logical reason.
Yes the customer didn’t want that. Simple as that. I proposed the idea on a separate quote and he declined it.
Use existing cable to pull two blue ropes through then use one of ropes to pull hituff back through?
This was an option but I just didn’t need to do it in the end
I might be a mile off here but from a performance POV never use WiFi boosters, they are dogshit (all of them) as they're simply repeaters which by their nature half bandwidth. 100meg (wired) Ethernet only uses two pairs, you can happily wire up cabled internet for the charger or install a small wired access point in the outbuilding (granted you'll need to use a POE injector to power it) but for a posh install like that, it's worth not being called back because your charger install (with wifi booster) ruined their internet :) I know it worked this time, but it looked like you might use a booster if it didn't
Thanks for the advice mate, I have found that the boosters work quite well to be honest, but I absolutely agree a hardwired connection is far better if it’s an option.
@@sotaelectrical the problem is the effect they have on the bandwidth (speed) where they are in effect. Because they have to first receive then re transmit eveything, effectively they half the available speed. It may not be noticed depending on the location and application but it has the possibility to be a costly call back. For example say there was a home office in the garage or external, a booster might cause problems when the client comes back to work etc.

Is that a looped supply? I'd recommend using jelly crimps for the ct connections. They are water proof connections usually used by bt way cheaper than wagos

Is it ok using the Zappy on a pme or tn-s system then? Never installed a Zappy. Wondering if there is PEN fault protection built into the zappy?

Why not just replace the feed to the garage with a bigger feed and put a small board in the garage surly that would have made more sense

My new build came with a 7kw/32a charger on the wall. Could never get it to charge over 16A. In my consumer unit the fuse for the EV charger is DETA 1216. So a 16A fuse. Is that why I can’t charge over 16A? Could I simply swap it out for a 32A fuse? I have 100A coming into the house.
Can I ask what charger you have? You have load curtailment in place, you need to ensure that you have a 4mm or 6mm cable installed to the charger depending on length of cable run, you may have a 2.5mm which is why it’s been limited to 16A.

Hey. Do you recommend any charger specifically? How do you rate each app for customer usage/bugs? Getting a Tesla soon and wondering what to go with. Was thinking Zappi (not getting solar) initially but after hearing about its weird radio Wi-Fi setup and the app reviews of most EV chargers in general, they almost all seem to have terrible reviews (2.5 stars at best...). Then thought of the the Hypervolt but its app doesn't even allow reviews yet. Also the Ohme but that got one of the worst, 1.7 stars on android app...
Now I'm thinking the Tesla Wall Connector for the, I think, Tesla vehicle exclusive? Vin restriction for charging, that I think it's the only charger with and opening the charge port, as well as one app for everything. Don't think it tracks costs/usage but the car itself does anyway. Only issue with it is I'm in the Republic of Ireland and I'm not sure if it's eligible for our 600 euro charger grant due to it being considered a dumb charger in the past, as well as it needing its own pen fault protection or ground, though I'm not even sure about our regulations on that.
Hi there, I would take what you read online with a lunch of salt, the Zappi is a great charger, I install so many of them with no callbacks, I also recommend the HyperVolt, both have good apps that are easy to use.
Where do you buy a power cable with Ethernet? Does it come as 5x4mm for 3 phase?
Yes it comes in 6mm and 10mm also, i get it from Rexel but most wholesalers have it now

granted it worked but, I'd of pulled through rope at first then used that too pull the cable as you can doo multiple loop knots which tighten the more you pull... just a thought cause Jesus if it had come loose sanity would be lost and the fact you knows it can go through means you will do the whole process again XD
