Joey’s grandfather Travis and Elvis’s mother Gladys were brother and sister. Joey is the son of Billy and Jo Smith, and Billy was Elvis’s 1st cousin. Billy raised his two sons, Joey and his brother Danny, on the grounds of Graceland during Elvis’s lifetime.
In this episode, Joey shares never before heard stories as a member of Elvis’s family and from his childhood growing up at Graceland! We were so honored to have the opportunity to speak with Joey.

We’re sorry for the audio in this video- there was a 5 second delay between Joey and the rest of us and we all had connection issues during this video so at times we sound like we are all talking over each other, reacting late & asking questions that overlap the audio. We’ve not had any issues like that before. We edited most of the 5 second delays out of the video but some are still evident. Please give us grace with the technical issues but we still felt that Joey’s story was so important to tell & we edited this video to the best of our ability!
    Love,
    Those Elvis Girls⚡️

You girls are knocking it out of Guthrie Park!!! Yes more with Joey!!! Cooking over at Kristen’s a must!!!! I don’t know how you guys do it, it reignites our commitment to get this man his due and exactly what’s he is . The King.❤

I have seen Joey Smith interviewed many times. Without a doubt, this is the very best Joey Smith interview. I am very impressed with your interviewing skills and ability to set Joey at ease as I have never seen him this talkative and forthcoming. Roy Miller and Joey's older brother Danny were best friends and spent so much time together, Vernon Presley used to tease them by saying they were dating each other and asking for a wedding date. Joey has a very unique perspective on Graceland because of his age during the 70's and it is always fascinating to compare his experiences to the Stanley brothers, who all share a similar experience of being innocently unaware of Elvis's fame. Long before Joey was born, George Klein did work for Elvis and it is a beautiful story of Elvis's love, concern, compassion, and caring for a friend. George lost his job as a rock-n-roll radio deejay because his management felt rock-n-roll was a fad about to die out. The very same day, George randomly encountered Elvis, who hearing of George's misfortune immediately hired George, who accompanied Elvis on his next tour and was responsible for transport and care of the famous gold lame suit. George was not working for Elvis when the term Memphis Mafia was coined. It is always interesting to hear the opinion of those close to Elvis as to who was and was not official Memphis Mafia and I am often surprised. Keep up the great work, I am looking forward to a lot more interviews!!!

You interview! If I remember correctly Burning Oaks Farm got its name for a reason. I think the fire dept came out for a big oak tree that caught fire on accident from a burning pit? Unless I dreamed that.
