Lovely concept. Thanks for the two episodes. It was just a couple of months ago, my 9 years old son learnt God save the country in his keyboard class at school and came home excited and said that he learnt santhatham pahimam in his keyboard class. We had to google to find out which came out first 🙂. Another song that comes to my mind is kamakshi bangaru and ka va va in varali. We also have manamvirumbuthe and manavyalakin, use of English notes in kaadu thirandhe kidaikinrathu, etc.
Thoroughly enjoyed your beautiful renditions of the double acts Sikkil Sir. I eagerly wait and watch your episodes. I am simply grateful to you for giving us the gift of music.
In a Telugu movie 'srivariki premalekha ' a song in kadana kutuhalam raghuvamsa sudham is sung by SPB with change in lyrics. The song is written with a theme against dowry!
This episode is full of surprises! My eyebrows were raised throughout! Ranjish hi sahu is my all time favourite and I loved it's inspiration and similarly the beethovans which is so familiar to so many of us. Thanks for this lovely episode.
Lovely exploration, Gurucharan! Enjoy watching ஜன்னலோரம் immensely. Thank you. On this topic of double-act songs, this one from Ilaiyaraja is a classic and I’d love to hear your analysis and perspective: Joteyali in Kannada (SPB & SJ), JAnE dO nA in Hindi (ShreyaG), and விழியிலே மணி விழியில் in Tamil (SPB & SJ). A triple-act really! IMHO, the Kannada version takes the cake followed by the Hindi version which seems to be slightly heavier on the “classical music” aspect, with very fine gamakas/brigas than its Kannada counterpart. ShreyaG has done a phenomenal job to deliver on IR’s very nuanced and classy modifications! The Tamil version is very good by itself, but the other two are SO out of the world that it pales in comparison. Not sure what ragam these are based on, but how does it matter 😊 - when you can just close your eyes and enjoy it!
Aaha. Enna beautiful programme. Very very interesting. Guru charan sir peelu, paras, ippadi cinema and carnatic explanation beaautiful aaga irukku. Thank you very much🙏🙏🙏
The earlier popularity of the tune helps the new song lyrics to become an instant hit ! As you rightly mentioned, there are so many in the movie world. Raja sir used "PItchai Paathiram Yendhi vandhen" from Sri Ramana Maharishi Album, as a film song with different orchestration. Nice presentation - time well spent watching this !
Very well compiled sir ! lots of hard work and research ! well done sir enjoyed it . Can't find the tanjavur S kalyanaraman sir's version of ranjish hi sahi in you tube . would much appreciate if you could give us the link here
Lovely two episode threads, once again! Thank you, Sikkil sir🙏🏽. You are capturing the essence of Indian classical music. You are creating your own drops in the ocean. May the journey continue…

I wish to mention here one Swati Thirunaal kriti in ragam Kapi: Vihara Maanasa rame; same tune adopted by MSV for a song by TMS in the movie Samayalkaran. 'Naan Paadidum kavidhaiyin santham...'
Beautiful episode of Jennal Oram... Got in a lot of memories... The maraveno song also has an Ayyappan version in the Bhajan circle very famously sung by Late. Sri Kovai Jayaraman Bhagavathar... Thank you for bringing that memory of his 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Hello Sir, as always, remarkably insightful and captivating presentation ! A small request - I am unable to find the krithi Mayyal Therrumo by SKR, could you kindly share a link to the krithi on youtube if it is available ? Thank you.
As usual, an inquisitive one. Good for our thoughts... In a Telugu movie, "Padi padi leche manasu", there's a song called "O lovely lalana". This happens to be a javali composed with Sahitya in both Telugu & English I came to know this through a reel in Instagram. Coincidentally you've also sung that "O my lovely lalana" in one of your concerts Anna...
Super Window to learn and also to enjoy. You were talking about Beethoven based song. I think there is a hindi song of actor Govinda "Huske Gujaare Zindagi, hai wohi Aadmi".
Thank you very much. There is so much packed in this episode. I hope when you release your carnatic adaptarion to fur Elise, i hope you can release the carnatic notes. Curious to see how you present it with it having chromatic notes that deviate from the orig scale and how it is going to sound. I have to listen to this video a few more times to absorb it all and take notes.
Madurai mani iyer was impressed with hindi film song Beena Madhur Madhur Kachhu Bol Sung by Saraswati Rane in the Music of Shankarrao Vyas In the Film Ram Rajya released in1943 and requested his ardent fan Mr. Guhan to compose a song in same tune and that is how his famous bhimplas raga masterpiece 'Kandan Karunai Puriyum Kai vel' was born ❤
@@SikkilOfficial similarly, the famous song 'kaatrinilae varum Geetham' in the movie '"Meera' (1945) by Smt. M.S.Subbulakshmi was written by Kalki Sri. Krishnamurthy in the tune of 'Toot Gaye Man Beena' sung by Ms.Sheela Sarkar for a private album in 1940 as Kalki's daughter Anandhi requested for a song in that tune and music director S.V.Venkataraman used the same tune and the song is evergreen to date . the link for the original song is here ua-cam.com/video/J2dqWwJYs6E/v-deo.html
