    Hi there, Jake! We love this new review and how in-depth you go into how you use the Fusion! The idea for using a stick-on tab for finding the lined page section is a space-tastic idea.

      It would be awesome if you could costumize the filenames per destination as well. It would help in selforganisation of data.
      And we need more and better tags for filename and message templates.... for example: I miss a "YY" tag as a short numerical form of "Year" (2019 => 19). On the other hand, the message title tag "MM" should not be an string abbreviation of the month (e.g. Oct.) but be in numerical form as well. At least it should be an option. Lastly, you have the option to recognize a title by placing it in "##" within the document? Great idea. It would be cool to use it in a hybrid form, in which you define a template name with a date and [title] placeholder to be filled if provided.

    I’ve been using my fusion for almost a year now and I still love it. I actually removed the coils of the book, rearranged the pages to a more suitable layout for myself, and the re-applied the coil. I added the pen holder (sold separately) and voila - my customized Fusion!

      Check out my video related to my 3D printed Rocketbook covers - there I show how I do it. You may be able to get away with a slightly smaller coil, but too small may run into issues with the ability to turn freely.

    I should have assumed that rocketbook would make a format based on the most common uploads. This is almost exaclty my format that i make for my notebooks for the past two years. Down to the literal words "objectives", "actions" and "refelections". This is freaking me out a bit... but im gonna buy. 10 stars.

    I have been using Rocketbook notebooks and the app for work for a couple of years. I have found two things in that time. 1. The vast majority of my notes don't need to be kept. 2. A small spray bottle of water helps clean the notepad quickly. I bought a pack of 10 on amazon for a few dollars.
    Great video

    • @JakeReevesVideo
      @JakeReevesVideo  3 роки тому

      Thanks Stephen 👍 and great additions. It's funny how many things I need to document, but not keep - I find myself erasing probably 60-80% of the notes I take without ever scanning them as well... But I use my notebook for what used to be sticky notes, so it works out well ✌️

      It depends on the lighting you scan with (if too dark they may show up), as well as the contrast enhancement setting: best for black ink (unlikely to see the dots and lines) or best for colour ink (some dots and lines may show up). Thanks for watching 👍 I'm glad you liked it ✌️

    I love your rocketbook videos. You speak well, and cover every detail nicely. I like that while you do love the product you also mention the things you don’t love. My question for you is are the sticky tabs safe for the pages? I have a core on its way. The fusion is tempting but I’m concerned at how effective the calendars would be if the ink shouldn’t stay on long term. I’ve heard you say 30 days is fine, but I’m still unsure if they’d work for me.

    • @JakeReevesVideo
      @JakeReevesVideo  3 роки тому +2

      Good question, I think I suggest sticky notes as tabs in one of my videos. You should be OK using them, but I would make sure you are using the removable ones in order to ensure they don't damage the page when you try to move them around. I've seen other users using them regularly. I think you'll like the Core - I am a big advocate for making your own templates in a Core rather than buying one that may or may not work perfectly for your needs. The 30-day rule really depends on how good you are at erasing on time, and how thick the ink is that needs to be erased. Inevitably, you will get some staining whether you erase and re-write in the same spot of a month, or if you just leave it there, but it shouldn't impact the scan quality - only the 'real world' look of the pages. At first I was really worried about that, but now I am less so. Good luck, and enjoy ✌️

    • @JakeReevesVideo
      @JakeReevesVideo  4 роки тому +5

      I think 3 years would be reasonable with moderate use, provided you care for it. The cover scratches easily, as I've talked about in some of my other Rocketbook videos, but the pages themselves hold up well provided you don't press too hard and erase regularly.

Assuming I do not care about the environmentally friendly element, for example I already use 90% recycled paper notebook. Hey Jake - thanks for the review. How good is the OCR in the app? What options do you have for storing in the cloud? I think I am going to buy this but worried about too many steps...

    • @JakeReevesVideo
      @JakeReevesVideo  4 роки тому +1

      Hey Kevin, I'm glad you found the review helpful - You should check out my other rocketbook videos as well if you haven't yet because they have a lot of content that you'll find useful in making your decision.
      For your questions... The OCR is good, and Rocketbook continually improves the App, so I would only expect it to get better. How useful it is depends on how clear your handwriting is - and which service you want to pair to your destinations. I'm actually in the process of editing a video about the destination options available, how the files appear in each and which have transcribe options - it should be up Sunday morning 👍 So stay tuned.
      I wouldn't worry about it being too many steps - I actually think this is the fastest way to digitize handwritten notes because of how you can batch scans, the high contrast border and the destination icons... There is also an auto-send option that cuts the number of steps down further that I will show in this weekend's video.
      Good luck! And I hope this helps ✌️

      I have removed mine from the spiral to mix and match pages and move them around, so I suspect you should be fine 3-hole punching them. To help make it easier, I took a small lighter to one end of the coil (careful not to burn you or the book) and I melted it very quickly to allow it to bend out and be less difficult to uncoil pages. Good luck!

Also i would like to ask if you answer (some day) Did you experience colored pages? after using Red,Blue or other color Frixion Pens, or if you can easy to write on the page (older one, many times erased) as the new ones (0 erase) ? My Everlast already is a bit difficult sometimes to write in the first pages because i used it many times so has red-yellow color already. and some times a bit difficult to write on it. Did you experiences the same issue?

      Thanks Blake 👍 I've found that the red pen is probably the worst for staining the page. I haven't experienced any short term issues if I erase the ink within a few days, but the few times I've left red ink longer than a few weeks I notice the same yellow-ish shadows that you describe. I think this is just an unfortunate side effect of the ink. Good luck with getting a Fusion notebook. It's good, but you could always create the templates yourself using a permanent marker. Recently I've taken up this approach, as you can see from my most center video about how I Bullet Journal in my Rocketbooks ✌️

    This is a very good review, I must say!
    I really am thinking about buying a rocketbook because it seems to be the perfect notebook for classes in college. At least for me because my tablet isn't capable of writing well on it with a pen and I don't want to buy another tablet just for that.
    Now, the thing is that I would only use it for doing tasks (e.g. for math studying) or to write on it during a class but not for writing a summary of a class because I like to have the pages physically in my hand when I study with a summary.
    Would you still recommend it for those purposes only? The price seems to be a little too high to me for these 2 purposes.
    Edit: Now that I saw how the scans look like it seems even better. The only bother I have is the price. I could just buy the fusion with some pens and markers for roughly 50-60€ but the folio covers make sense to me aswell and they cost nearly as much as a rocketbook fusion itself. Are there any offers you know about to get it cheaper? I don't have that much money to spend as a student ^^'

    How would you describe the texture when writing in the Fusion vs an Apple Pencil on an iPad? I don't like writing on a slick surface, like glass, with a plastic tip but prefer some sort of resistance instead.

    • @JakeReevesVideo
      @JakeReevesVideo  4 роки тому

      I find the Apple pen on glass to be very low friction. The Rocketbook is definitely more like writing on paper, but it is still low friction. It's like a very slick gel pen. It did take some getting used to (and I still prefer ball pen on regular paper), but it's become my go-to for notes.

      The fusion comes in both letter and executive sizes, so you can choose whichever is best for you. The one I have is the letter, which is the same as a standard notebook (8.5x11). Personally, I like it, but also really like the smaller executive size. When I bought mine, the executive was sold out though.

    Can you take off the spiral and re-organize the pages (move lined pages in front) or put into a different binder that will let you add/remove pages? Would this damage the pages & ability to use the app?

    • @JakeReevesVideo
      @JakeReevesVideo  4 роки тому +1

      You can. As long as you're careful I wouldn't expect that you would damage anything, and it wouldn't effect the ability to use the app. It would just be a pain to feed the coil through again, so I'd recommend looking for an alternative binding at that point.

    Are the pages durable - Can school going kids use it without the pages getting wear and tear easily ?

    • @JakeReevesVideo
      @JakeReevesVideo  4 роки тому +1

      The biggest issues for the pages come when they are folded, subjected to heat, erased with the FriXion eraser instead of water, or if something stains them by spilling on them. How well they take care of the pages will affect the books longevity. With care, I would expect the notebook to last 2-years or so.

    • @JakeReevesVideo

      I have both sizes actually. I find that I use the executive size most often, but that is because I am no longer a student and don't take as many long form notes anymore. So I primarily use my Rocketbook as a bullet journal to organize my week and track tasks. If I am doing technical drawings or taking longer form notes, then I use the letter size. I hope this helps!

    are the spirals metal and does it change depending on the color?

    • @JakeReevesVideo
      @JakeReevesVideo  4 роки тому +1

      The spiral bindings are plastic, and their colour changes depending on the colour of the notebook, but not the material. This is also one thing that has been known to break over time depending on how rough you are with the notebooks... I've had one break at the tip, and while it hasn't impacted my use in any real way, it's worth mentioning. You could always rebind it at a local office supply store if that happens, or just melt the tip back into a bent position. I hope this helps.

    Hi. How do you store your weekly calendars & can you search for certain past events?

    • @JakeReevesVideo
      @JakeReevesVideo  5 років тому

      I store them in Google Drive, where I've made a weekly calendar folder that corresponds to one of the RocketBook symbols that I leave checked off in the booklet. As far as I know, the built in handwriting recognition is only good for JPEG files (and maybe only within the RocketBook app). I usually save as PDFs, so I've never tried searching them, though if you constantly upload in JPEG that would be searchable through the RocketBook app. 👍

WHAT IS THE REASON TO BUY THAT THING, TO USE THAT KIND OF WASHABLE INK,AND TO CLEAN EVERY TIME WE FINISH A PAGE? WE CHOSE INKS FOR LONGLASTING WITTING ,I PAY 30 GBP FOR INKS SUCH AS BLACK CARBON OF PLATINUM ,IN ORDER TO HAVE IT DOCUMENTED FOR LONG TIME, EVEN FOR YEARS AND WE MUST USE THAT UGLY THING? I have a digital copy of my notes with me everywhere I go. As someone who has done a lot of schooling, this is important to me. Especially as I expand my professional career and need to recall those notes quickly while on the go. I wouldn't draft a contact in them, but they are suitable for some tasks. This portable blend of technology and traditional writing may not be right for you, which means you shouldn't buy it.

    • @JakeReevesVideo
      @JakeReevesVideo  4 роки тому +1

      I didn't have issues with the few months that I used it, but I was worried about the same thing. I still like the templates that they offer, but I have since developed my own weekly bullet-journalling templates that I keep updated and rolling on a 2-week basis. I plan on making a video showcasing them in the next few weeks if you're interested in something like that as an alternative. For ghosting, I find the coloured pens are also worse than black, so keep that in mind. Good luck either way!

      I wouldn't suspect so. The 3M adhesive used is specifically designed to be reapplied and doesn't leave much in the way of residue on the page. I would imagine that tab does less abrasive damage than erasing.

If I were just to be taking notes without the drawings though, I would go for just lined pages. The dotted ones are a little closer together, which feels strange at first if you are writing long-form notes. Hope this helps! 👍
