Whelp I actually needed this video but I may be on the naughty list because I’ve already had my channel since March. I’m planning on doing sole proprietorship though and just using my name so, maybe I’ll be ok...I’m still trying to sort out if you need to register your business name in Los Angeles county just to get my business permit. It looks like LA wants me to register my business name before I can even get my permit. It’s a little overwhelming so I’ve been putting it off.
Hi!! I would 1) register your DBA first if you are operating under anything different than your first + last name. The application will ask you to select the type of business, select sole proprietor in that case. 2) They will give you a list of newspapers you can publish your DBA in - you'll call in and let them know you need to have your DBA published. 3) Trademark your business name if you want to protect it from being take by someone else (optional) 4) If you want an EIN, get that next (I have a video on it, its easy) 4) Apply for your business tax affidavit/business license (use calgold website to find your specific website to apply) list your DBA and EIN on the app (if applicable here) you will be a sole proprietor and registered under your first and last name. 5) Business bank accounts (don't skip this one)
Is the process the same if mine has expired? Mine expired in 2017 and I was wondering if I have to go through the same process with running an ad. Thanks!

So you mean to say if we include the alternate business name in our LLC's Article of Organization, the LLC can use that business name like a DBA without the need to register separately for the DBA?

I'm devastated because, my clients were getting confused when googling my business. I called the county clerk to see if I have any rights but, they just took a message and said they would email me. @@ginnysilver I work in Hazardous waste clean up... My last job I was on the Camp fire clean up in Paradise Ca working along side FEMA... There are afew jobs starting to open up in Oregon due to some of the fire disasters up there...😉👍 It makes for long days and time away from my family but it is great pay👍

What matter's here are your county and state requirements and not the platform - if you are operating a business as a sole proprietor and you are not using your first and last name as your business name - yes you need to register your DBA. Visint calgold.ca.gov/ to find your city's requirements and where to file.
HI Ginny! Independent contractor here, (I work in research for hire). I have a DBA and have had one for the two years my independent business has been up and running. I initially received the larger $767, ($167 per week, plus the CARES extra $600 per week PUA payments) for 11 weeks, and then the weekly payments went back to just $176 per week, which is what I am receiving now. Would using my DBA somehow have changed anything, or continued my larger PUA payments? and are there any other ways to get an larger payments from my balance? $167 per week, is not enough to get by on. Thanks!
Hi! The 600 additional per week was a temporary boost to unemployment (the FPUC boost) for claim weeks ending 3/29-7/25 only - there is no no way to get this boost anymore. Those larger payments will not occur again unless a new stimulus bill is signed into law granting another temporary boost to unemployment. Your weekly benefit award amount is determined based on yoru 2019 income - if you earned more than $17.5K on your schedule C in 2019 you could be eligible for an increase - the EDD does this automatically if you qualify, usually about a month after your are approved.

No. Your LLC name will be registered without needing DBA paperwork. Additional business names will require a DBA registration

Yes a virtual office (not a po box) can be used on all business address documents

Having a DBA is part of being else employed, and would in no way negatively effect your unemployment award amount.
