These days, it's literally super easy to get well over 1,000hp and be every bit as drivable as a factory stock vehicle. 1,000hp is like the new 400hp - super easy to achieve while being 100% drivable with a/c and everything with great street manners.
@@IcanDriveIt man, 400hp is pretty rocking to me. Modern chassis's definitely make big power much more drivable. I've got a mild turbo LS in my square body and it scares the bejeesus out of me 😂. And there's no way it even makes 500hp.
I think the Syclone actually made just shy of 280 horses at the wheel, it made that with 14 psi of boost when factory-fresh, so 265 at 13.4 on an old bottom-end makes a lot of sense to me, but they are definitely beating the torque figure, 371 foot pounds at 13.4 psi of boost compared to the Syclone's 350, so that's pretty neat, more get-up-and-go that way :P

Best UA-cam project I’ve seen in a while. Not some hypercar nonsense, a junk yard build any of us could save up and afford to build at home, and it’s paying homage to a very cool car.
@@StayTunedTA it has a 4cyl manual. I bought it ($650 on eBay) in ‘04 to make it a convertible but my ‘88 bed supports rusted and the clutch on this one was toast so I parked it and every time I see my buddy’s dad he asks how my project is coming along 😂😂
This is easily the best build I've seen on a car channel in many years. It's the absolute essence of what so many us want to do and the budget makes it achievable! Enjoyed every second of you guys enjoying it, and genuinely feels like we're right there with this dream build of a truck.
Original Syclone said it made 280hp. But they made way more "power" meaning torque than advertised, but about 100 ft lb. My only trials with 95% stock Syclone dyno was about 240whp and 390 lb ft.... which makes the advertised torque rating quite "conservative" when re-calc'd the drivetrain loss. That truck at the time had approx 90k Farm Miles on it... (I got it in as rough a shape as the one you looked at, and fully restored it and then starting hunting more power til it exploded transfer cases on prepped track)
This is my favorite build, and it's led me on several stupid web searches for GMC 6 cylinder engines to put a cheap-ass turbo on. The AWD is perfect for this, and I'm really glad you made sure it was an integral part of the build. Like you said, I hope there are tons of builders doing their take on this budget monster. THANKS!

This is the greatest car project on UA-cam period. I knew a guy back in the 90s who loves these and did all sorts of other crazy mashup cars… His favorite thing to make these and other turbo cars absolutely FLY for dirt cheap was water/meth injection. It’s not only lets you run way more boost, it cools the charged air as well as an intercooler if not better. He’d just use winter blend windshield washer fluid, it’s 50/50 water meth. He had a Starion with a turbo charged 302 in it, it made 400hp off meth and 600 on it. He said he could make 800 but it just spins tires then.
This is a sweet build! I love the fact you you read these, take advise from your fans and say hey some people who know a little more about this than we do vs blowing them off claiming you are better than them. Thats what makes you awesome

I'm so proud. Congratulations on the 0-60 times! Glad you don't plan on LS swapping. ARP head studs if you have to put some new rings or gasket later. That engine already has hyper pistons and forged rods in 92-94. Cam is better than the newer 4.3 also. Thank you for trying the vette servo swap! If you smoke the 2-4 band (looks like a big parking brake shoe) it can also be upgraded in a few minutes once trans is out.(have to pull front pump out) Nice to have that torque so early. No real need for a high-stall converter in this thing.
Servo is just a piston that applies one of the bands in a transmission. bigger piston equals more force. Other mod that is worth doing without pulling the trans is 1-2 accumulator, a device that is actually designed to slow down a shift, to make it feel more granny-like, you can either block it or like stack 2 pistons in it to reduce piston travel. It needs a pan pulled so it's way messier.

@@StayTunedTA Dont these have flat tappet cams still? Ive owned quite a few and added Zinc rich oil to them to make them last, but a hot roller cam if you can find one would bring the RPM and HP waaayyy up!
@@ryanpetree6475 His is a roller, 4.3 went roller in the late 87 If i remember correctly and the AWD Astros have cams with ,ore duration that other stock cams. Some cheap 1.6 rockers and larger exhaust housing would do it.
Seriously, i want to build a syke clone. This has been an awesome journey. I will buy merch. You guys up there with Vgg and all those nuts. Keep the awesome builds coming!
Thanks bud! Appreciate it!
Keep going, Tony. You're definitely on to something ppl want to see.
Kinda like Jmod for 4R70, 4R75 4.6 ford autos. What a huge difference that alone makes. Wow.
gay
@@jacksonyoung6919 Yes it makes me super happy also. Hope urr as gay as I am about harder launches, and forceful gear shifts. Makes my liver quiver just thinking about it!!
This project rocks and your team rocks! Not only did you guys knock it out of the park but when I later watched HRGs Typhoon episode I thought Stay Tuned's team hit a triple grand-slam. HRGs lack of passion and "we're so far above this 80s junk" attitude was palpable and a real turn off. Love your teams passion for the projects. It too is palpable and what drives me to watch your videos. Thanks
Speaking of running straight, the 440 that you drove to Kentucky has a dogleg crab just a little. Probably not a big deal but I have to tell you what you probably know.
Some of the boost is escaping out the exhaust valves especially when you apply too much. It happens.
That makes sense. I bet you would get better numbers with a rolling start plus, it won't wad up the suspension so bad. This is incredible man!!!
My hotrod pickup took almost 6.5 seconds to get to 60
Man that thing is awesome. I’m fighting the urge to build one out of the 10+ s10s I have. Keep it up I’m loving the channel.
Time for some Syclone forum members to bring their factory trucks and do a little bit of racing. Love the truck. This will be a fun platform to do many videos with upgrades and changes.
Well done! The look of surprise and joy on your faces followed by shit eating grins was simply awesome! So glad the Frankenstein truck is performing better than expected and can’t wait to see what you do to refine and make it better. Awesome build series Tony!
I want to do this build so badly now, I can not believe how well this worked!
I would love to see this done with the newer 4.3 that are based off the LS keep up the great work
That's the plan for down the road, when the transmission and driveline are upgraded, because that thing will make north of 600hp.
Nice I will be patiently waiting.
LV3s are beastly. I think they run out of the stock fuel system around 400hp, so secondary injection is needed. ua-cam.com/video/r7SNB_Dodog/v-deo.html @@StayTunedTA
I've been an S10 fan since I bought my 92 Blazer new, thanks for putting all kinds of grins on my face!
From my days with turbo Buicks…upgrade the brakes to hold more boost off the line, look into bags or suspension stuff when it does start spinning, and get that exhaust as open as possible…could be an 11 second truck without too much work 😮
Killer build, always loved those trucks!!
This is so awesome!!! I'm so glad it works this great for yall. I love S-10's. People thought I was nuts for lifting Baby Blazers but they're so much fun.
I wish I had as much talent as these men have in their pinkeye fingers, love the no fear attitude, keep up the great work, I am hoping that this truck will get all the fixings like rust removal and paint, I get it's a cheap cyclone, but I want to see it look like a garage princess that gets used like a daily, you guys deserve more subs cuz the contend is spot on!!!!
Pinkeye fingers😂😂😂
If you don't know what a pinkeye finger is then your missing out! They are the BEST!!😂 SCRATCH AND SNIFF!
Dude! Nice! More like sick clone!
I'll always walk by a Lambo to check this truck out.
Love that, thanks for watching!
Damn straight!! Soon as I see the truck, I'm like "what lambo?"
Awesome video! Love your build . Great to see a known UA-camr doing a build, proving it and at a price almost anyone can do in there backyard 👍
Can't wait to see you do a drag and drive in this thing!! Gonna be so epic, do you think you'll ever look to go fuel injection with LS coil packs at any point?
All of these episodes legitimately make me smile while watching. So awesome!
Let’s Fn Go! Can’t wait to see what this better version of a cyclone can do! HellYeah Sike Clone! Beer and a Slice Time. Ready to Stay Tuned!🍺🍕
It's SO good, I was astounded! Keep watching! Enjoy that brew! Appreciate ya!
@@StayTunedTA🤘🤘🤘
Great job Tony!!!!! Loved the whole build, down and dirty power!!!!!
I think you are a cam away from even greater glory!
Everybody's smiling all over every episode of this build. You guys are hitting a stride. Keep it coming!
I built mine 15 years ago in the driveway (2002 S10 AWD Xtreme) -welcome to the club!
I swear I love this channel more and more every episode.
You are grinning like a kid in a candy store. Love it. You just sent the cost of old s10's through the roof.
Never realized how local you were till this episode I grew up in Lansdale/Montgomeryville. Would love to line this thing up next to my twin charged Subaru.
Man this is my favourite show. This type of stuff where you can do it on a budget stuff is awesome. Not everyone can throw new everything at a engine or car. If I could I wouldn’t be watching it soooo thank you tony your the man I’m glad you made your leave from moto trend and opened your wings to fly. You and your team are doing a great job
I love how excited you guys are. .. I love this truck
Man this channel is just the best! The genuine hype about doing something dumb and cheap and it working out great. Soon this channel is going to blow up to millions of subscribers, and rightfully so!
Thank you for replacing my childhood memory of the asthmatic-sounding 4.3, with the sweet, sweet sound of a raging turbo. Have always loved the Typhoon, cus blazer-with-a-turbo, and love this budget, small truck build. I cannot wait to see where this goes. I will always Stay Tuned. You guys are legends.
Tony I am so glad you are having a blast and so much Fun its good to see you posting and most of all Kicking butt taking names and showing the next Gen on How it can be done.
You guys are killing it. Keep it up. Cheap, different, cool + fast. Winning formula.
This build makes me want to build my own Psych-Clone. Love the real world builds.
The dyno session reminded me of running my subaru, if it'd made 299 I'd have been gutted and if it'd made 301 I'd have been scared for its life :)
Loved "I am going to try to do this while learning nothing"
One of the all time greatest builds on UA-cam! Everything about it is perfection!
I love how proud TA is of this truck. It's so wholesome
Tony, your enthusiasm is contagious! Thoroughly enjoy this project.
This is a comment for comments sake. UA-cam people always say comments “help them”. Well, Stay Tuned is the shit, and I want MORE videos, and I want to support Tony and the fellas. So here’s a comment. Keep the content coming dudes! We love you out here!!!!
I love this content. This is the kind of stuff we want to see.
Badass...this SikeClone needs Boost by Gear, a 4 port boost solenoid/controller, launch control and it will be a monster! You'll be able to control your boost from 5psi to 40psi (for example) in every gear...I've used a Sirhc Labs 4 port boost controller set up and it works very well.
Coolest build ever! You know you’ve inspired many more builds like this!
Tony! The Sike Clone Delivers! With just the right mix of junk yard parts you’ve unlocked the possibility of a low buck beater that rips! I can’t wait to see what this build ends up as and what other people are going to turn this idea into! Awesome content bro!
Your coolest build so far Tony. Very enjoyable to watch!
You guys look like the GM engineers probably did back in the day with a parts bin hot rod on the Proving Grounds. This drivetrain combo has been slept on for too long! V8 Prostreet Astro vans also ruled back in the day. I was a detailer at my local Pontiac, Buick, GMC dealer when I was around 21 from 98-2000. All of the cool F bodies Syclone/Typhoons Turbo G bodies and Square Body trucks seemed to come to us for service. Awesome build Tony it reminds me of when the old dude in his Syclone smirked at my lowered ‘84 Toyota Minitruck on 17” TSWs then proceeded to demonstrate OG Plaid speed to me. 👀 Lol!
This is the best junkyard build I've ever seen, so glad you didn't LS swap it..great out of the box thinking and problem solving guys..I would like to see more non LS swap projects..thanks for your efforts and busted knuckles on this project...guys I have some 91 s10 parts if needed
UK watcher here, loving this build keep it up!
These guys are doing good things for AWD Astro values.
I want one- period. That is by far the coolest cheap S10 ever. You guys are freakin' awesome.
