If a person is new to the academy would have some experience and can control how they roll, know when to tap, and show good movement then possibly. Otherwise, no. And, since we've been having people wait until they're ready, the injuries are pretty much non-existent.

Hi guys, 'if you're brand new, you shouldn't be rolling for 10-15 classes'. Is this normal? I rolled on my first class. What's your experience?

In my experience, most injuries occur when new students roll and don't have the basic movement and escapes or even know how and when to tap. If a person has experience grappling, let them roll in the first class. If you are totally new, never rolled and don't know how and especially when to tap, you should not be rolling for at least a couple of weeks unless it is for position control only.
