I might be biased, having been raised in the passenger seat of a 69 1/2 RoadRunner, but I'd have to say they are badass cars. My mom had a 68 Charger, black cherry, nicknamed The Beauty. The RR was gloss black w/ flat black fiberglass hood, nicknamed The Beast. Neither one lost a race, but we all knew the RR would beat the Charger. That's the way my dad kept it. 😂 Cool car, thanks for the video.
It's a clean neutral. "Clean neutral valve bodies are built so that a 3 speed trans can unload the engine at the finish line. These valve bodies are built to allow the forward clutch to be disengaged while the rest of the transmission clutches are applied. The neutral that most transmissons utilize allows ALL the clutch drums to be vented. At speed, the geartrain will still be spinning at driveshaft speed. The direct drum is mechanically attached to the geartrain and spins BACKWARDS 2.5 times driveshaft speed. 7000 RPM at the stripe, trans goes to regular neutral, direct drum spins to 17500 RPM and then explodes. Clean neutral keeps the direct clutch applied (still spinning 7000 RPM) while venting the forward clutch, thus unloading the trans from the engine. If you can allow the engine to decelerate under load (engine braking) you do not need this type valve body."
It's kind of funny watching these interviews with Bobby (Danny?). Not once have I seen an interview that made me think "That guy or gal is a real asshole" Each and every one of them have been people that you would not mind being pitted next to. Hey Bobby if you read this, did you benifit from the HP giveback on the 289 that NHRA came up with?
Love these interviews, Bobby. It's so cool that he's had that car since 1970. The stories behind these cars are amazing.
What a GREAT interview. Chuck is a GREAT guy.
LOVE them MOPARS, owned MANY of them back in the 70`s.
Very nice Roadrunner.
This man knows everything about this car.
Thanks for sharing.
Chuck-I worked with you in the mid 80's. You were a great partner! I"m in Maryland now. Great car!
Very cool!
Oh this is close to home. I went to Chatsworth HS and another drag racer friend was 30+ LAPD officer.
Car is a classic and so is the owner...great guy
I remember seeing Chuck run up at LA County Raceway, beautiful car. Thanks Bobby.

I hope Chuck's hip replacement went well. I've had both of mine replaced and it changed my life. Gorgeous car.
Had my right hip done 4 months ago and the left one is in 3 days. Hope that one goes as well as the first!
# Car Show, Picked a great Mopar. Thanks for the up close and personal look.
Glad you liked it Tom! Thank you and Chuck for your donations in Pomona. Make sure Chuck sees it because I don’t know how to get a hold of him.
That's a gorgeous car!!!
Wow very nice RR thanks for sharing
Ol Chuck seems to know all the details on his very nice RR. Surprises me when some owners don’t know their complete specifications.

Doesn’t look like it to me. Maybe camera angle.

Yes it benefitted me in stock eliminator when I drive the silver ‘64 mustang. We got to take 40lb out.
I’m starting to think that I didn’t rev my ‘70 Roadrunner with an Indy headed 440/6 high enough.
That was a fun car.
Fyi it's a 6 barrel for Plymouth 6 pack for dodge according to mother mopar
Good to know. Thank you.
@@driverinterviews everyone JUST REFERRED TO THEM AS 6 PAK lol, But Purists say 6bbl
