This was a weird problem with a weird yet awesome solution!!! Thank you
Ffmpeg Didn't work on Linux through PortProton sadly, but I at least now can import and export videos. Great video!
Awesome, thanks! Have a great & healthy New Year!
Hello welcome back sir . 🙏
Thank you thank you!
I knew about the VLC download problem, but I swore I downloaded the right version. So I came here. The FFMPEG thing from 2:39 worked.. thank god man.
Well.. actually.. I said ' Thank god' but I should have said: Thank YOU!
Thanks Tim :) yeah it's a problem that plagues everyone at some point, I had to research the FFMPEG thing myself and was like "Holy hell, there's no way I would have known to do this." Glad it worked out for you!
Thank you! 👍🏼
Thank you!
What if you only want to transfer audio files but have this issue?
Do you know what type the audio file is? I've heard of people having this problem using UA-cam to mp3 or some browser-based converters. I'll need to know the specific file type you're having problems with to possibly recommend some things to try.
Without knowing, one thing that has worked (which is hilarious to me) is to explicitly add the extension to the filename. For example, if the file was called "Guitar_Lead", try changing to "Guitar_Lead.mp3". It's a long shot, but without any details, that's the best I've got.
@@ReaperTutorials Please make a tutorial that fixes this problem, save me🙏
@@ReaperTutorials I tried the technique you proposed, but it didn't work
@@ricmerick5145 where did you get the file from? Was it from an external device? From a website? From another software?
No matter what WAV file I try I get this error.
wav files dont work even after i deleted reaper and reinstalled it
Thank you, that was so helpfull
Absolutely! Thanks for watching :)
thanks bro
THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!
You’re welcome!!!!!!!!
thanks, but i use splice for loops and it still doesn't work
Hmm what format are the loops when they come from splice? Saw that there's a possible issue with any 'Digital Rights Management' mp3s, and I wonder if Splice is stuffing metadata into the audio files or something.
Mine is an audio problem, not a video . I can't be able to latch OGG Audio files onto Reaper. Please, what do I do?
Is it a true .ogg file, or is it an 'ogg-encoded' wav file? I've seen some issues with the latter on forums:
forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=53040&highlight=ogg+wav
Short answer - if the extension is '.wav' but it's showing as an 'ogg-encoded wav' file, try changing the file extension from '.wav' to '.ogg' and see if that works.
I'm completely guessing here, so if that was the right answer, I'll do a little tap dance.
it didnt solve my error :C
Sorry :( did you restart your compy after all the new downloads? Or reinstall Reaper? Could help, but hard to tell
what if the Error pops up when I try importing .wav files?
Ooo that's a tricky one. .wav files usually work out of the gate.
I'd start with uninstalling and reinstalling Reaper just to make sure you get a clean install. If it's still going on, you may check to see if you can open WAV files anywhere else on your computer (media players, etc.). If it's not opening anywhere else, it's going to require some digging.
Generally, if something like this goes wrong with an install, it's probably meaning that codecs were deleted, but hard to tell without going step by step to troubleshoot.
THANKS
T H A N K Y OU soooooooooooooooooooo much
Of course! This error is the worst when you get it the first time, glad I can help
still wont work for me
What file type are you trying to import?
:( I still get the same error
me too :(
It didn’t work for me either but then I just downloaded the latest version of reaper and then it worked. Just go in the action bar and then help and then check for new versions of reaper to see if u have an update.
great
Does not solve my issue
What is the file type you’re trying to import?
@@ReaperTutorials Mp4 is the file type. To Import mp4 I had to install VLC into Reaper's folder. But still can't see h264 in rendering
Hmm, installing VLC into the Reaper folder sounds like it might cause some problems. Do you mean you selected the installation path for VLC as Reaper’s installation folder? (C:/Program Files/REAPER or something like that?)
I’d try uninstalling and reinstalling Reaper and then running through the steps in the video again, just make sure you don’t delete any of your preset/template folders.
Sometimes as we try a bunch of things to get Reaper working right, the installation folder can get corrupted or start looking for files in different places.
Also my power is out so I’m trying to troubleshoot without a computer so thank you for your patience :)
@@ReaperTutorials Yes I had to otherwise even mp4 import was not happening. And Reaper was not able to pick VLC and codecs
Okay, I would try it with a fresh install of Reaper and VLC. If you’ve tried installing it in multiple places, it could just be picking it up from the wrong place.
Wish I could be of more help but it’s hard to know unless I see how you installed everything and whether all the steps were followed.
does it work for Mac???
Hmmm I’m not sure. I would have thought that Mac would be able to handle .mp4 natively, but I could be wrong.
Mine was mp3
Was the file from an online UA-cam to mp3 converter? Or any browser-based mp3 converter/mp3 download service? I know those files can sometimes be corrupted. If it's an mp3 from a reputable source, let me know and I can try to recommend something.
If you need to get audio from a video, I don't have a great option of doing it quickly without exposing yourself to corrupt files or malware. I will typically screen capture a video with OBS and then pull it into Reaper to get the audio.
i just got it and i cant upload a mp3
Searching around a bit, and all I can find is that if you can find a way to convert the mp3 to something else, it should work. A couple other questions though and I might be able to help out:
- Where did the mp3 come from?
- In general, can you export from Reaper as an mp3? And if you reimport that, does it work?
- What's your Operating System (Windows/Apple/Linux/etc.)?
@@ReaperTutorials ytmp3 converter and I have windows
Same here ☝️😔
I just used VLC to convert the MP3 to MP4, is working now 😊
This literally happened to me with a fuckin mp3 bro Reaper is on drugs
Lololol oof sorry, that shouldn’t happen. Did the steps here help or is it still all methed up?
@@ReaperTutorials Had to modify it a bit but it helped me in the right direction tyty
Sweet, glad it’s working for you now, happy Reapering!
@@moaqi how u make it?
