Another sweet video, Matt. Great job!
Good job. No BSing... Just catching fish. Keep up the good work!!!!
Well the crowd size is to be expected, I'm sure it's what would be normal for this time of year anyway. Great way to end the day with the fish action. I'll be down on the beach soon. Always glad to stay bummy!!
Staying at the Navarre Hampton. Looking forward to getting some lines wet in the morning. Thanks for your inspiration.
I am so envious. I love Spanish and wish I was there! Stay safe and well. Great video.
Man you were doing. Great job catching those fish in the surf like that! I don't know anything about fishing with lures in the surf but I'm learning from watching you the other cats channels! As soon as I get the chance to get down there and I'm definitely going to try it! Great video man keep on doing anything!
I live in Pensacola, love your channel. Keep up the good work, its inspiring.
Glad to see you back out where you belong, on the beach! Nice video!
I went surf fishing Saturday on P'cola Beach and the current was just ripping to the point my lines were down the beach 20 seconds after I cast them out. I also forgot about my diamond jig until I saw your video..oh well...woulda coulda shoulda!!!!! learning a lot watching your vids keep'em coming please
That was very cool. Thanks have a great day
Man I need to go fishin! Thanks for taking us along.
Great video!!! It helps during quarantine!
Keep up the great work brother!
Matthew, would you do a brief video of what you carry in your beach tackle bag? I think a lot of us would like to know what you think a minimal range of artificial lures would be.
Definitely would
That was some really good action.
Really enjoy your videos, gonna be in Ft. Morgan this weekend, gonna try surf fishing and see what happens...
Fun in the rough surf. Way to go Matt. Ya got this thing down pat. Tom Daytona Beach, FL.
I used to catch lady fish on a fly north side of the bridge there before saltwater fly fishing was cool! Thank you for the video brother, tight line’s!
Looks like fun to me, thanks for show
Great video keep up the good work
Matt, what hooks ( size and brand) do you use when you replace the factory ones on your diamond jigs?
Tins from the surf 👍🏻 my favorite way to fish
Great vid I love the Gulf of Mexico I go to gulf shores a bunchhhh I love ur vids
Ive really enjoyed your videos! Made the last beach trip a success, fishing! Do, please, if you will, tell us the dates and times you're fishing. I could go so far as to request the stretch of Alabama beach you're fishing. Again, you're stuff is great. Keep up the quality work!
Man I need to go get that bait right now lol I’m gonna go fish at that same spot haha
Wow, como se dice....Blue Fish! But you got the Lady and the Holy Spanish Mackerals! Great Video, wish I could hire you for a trip sooner than October cause that fishing looks soooo Fun!!! Take care Brother,
Great video, just a good day walking & catching Spanish on the beach, looks like it would have been a good Pomp day, but you're just doing your thing,,,,,, Be Safe God Bless,,,,,,
I always like it when knowledgeable fishermen announce what species they are targeting. When people ask me, I tell them “whatever is stupid enough to grab my lure”.
The great thing about surf fishing is you never know what will be stupid enough to hit your lure anyway.
nice video! if you ever make it to Cabo San Lucas let us know.
we will be happy to take you fishing out here.
That was amazing, gonna try the diamond jig in North Myrtle Beach this weekend and next week
Congrats on 39k
If you use spoons and reel them quickly across the surface that works too
Great video. Would love to see you share tide info. Favorite tide to fish? Do you think it matters? Etc... keep them coming.
I was at Opal beach middle of last week and caught a mess of Spanish on 3/4 Oz Johnson Gold spoon plus a few lady fish. Need to try the diamond jig sometime. Great outing for you man!
Hi Bama, Always enjoy your enthusiasm! Do you use a swivel to eliminate line twist with these spoons? Thanks Loved the Cabo trip!!
I (unfortunately) stayed at those 3 condos last summer, for baseball. That aside, we fished right there, tried the jetties, and the inlet. Caught some huge sail cats in the inlet with a white bucktail jig, if you're interested. Also, at night, on a ripping outgoing tide, the ladies (fish) were basically jumping out of the water, a huge run for at least 2 hours. Biggest ladies I've ever seen. Good stuff!
I'm so jealous cuz I want to go surf fishing somewhere that is not a lot of people around... I wish I could go in the Morning time but I have kids and I stay in Mobile...😭😭😭😭 but 2 weeks ago I did caught a sheep head at cedar point 🤣
I was down there fishing also this weekend but I was closer to the lagoon over on Mobile Street and the fish were running very good for about two hours
Good vid. I've been to Gulf Shores and all along the Florida coast of number of times and slinging lures is my favorite way to fish from the beach. I think it requires a little more technical skill as you need to have the ability to read the water in order to find cuts and outflows. At least when compared to soaking a bait in the first or second trough.
What's best rid for casting these surf lures
Really think that “fat Spanish” at 5:50 was a baby king. Lateral line dipped down. Cool vid my man!
Enjoyed the video - brings back some great memories. One of the 5-6 best days fishing I ever had was right along that stretch in the mid-eighties. Two of us landed and released 200+ blues and Spanish one morning.
We finally quit because our arms got tired!
Those look just like my Costa Tuna Alley glasses. Costas are the best.
Oh Yea...Oh Yea...On Yea!!
Lady and Spanish...great job!
Wish these old bones could be there With a rod and reel...Any Fish would do!!
Thanks, Matt for keeping IT REAL!!
Great video!!! How do you rig up your diamond jigs? Swivel, leader, Loop knot?
Thanks! Now I know that I can travel light!
Man they have a new coffee drink at yellowhammer called the beach bum. I was lookin for you when they announced it.
Saludos desde Costa Rica c.a.
El mar puede ser brutal aquí,gracias por compartir la info,ése señuelo lo voy a probarlo les cuento cómo me fue después
Do you have any tips on working that lure? is it a fast retrieve as possible ?
Great video... I own at Phoenix VI. I just started fishing, Pompano still around ?
Bama Beach Bum I love your videos!! you are making my quarenteen days better here in México, thanks a lot 😊😊👍💖, I wanted to ask you wouldn't you like to come here to Veracruz, México to try some fishing for some species that there you don't have once this quarenteen is over?
I was fishing the same spot saturday afternoon, it was rough, but did manage a couple of pompano. Lady fish were thick.
I hope you we’re happy , 1 pomp a day , I would never complain . I had 17 sails in 2 1/2 days in Costa Rica ... I’d take the pomps theses days !!
Any suggestions for mid-September surf fishing?
I catch them lady's on a Johnson spoon and a Berkley gulp swim bait. Me and my stepson caught so many one time my arms were cramping!
What kind of leader is that? Awesome video man, headed down there next weekend
That lady fish was a bloody mary
Hey last summer I absolutely destroyed the ladyfish and Spanish mackerel at Perdido. I was using a Zoom Horny Toad on a worm hook. Absolutely destroyed them! Most fun I've ever had! Just wish I would've had a GoPro then 😂 oh well. They'll be there this year!
Great video
Great action
Tell us about what rood reel and line you use for this? Please
great my boss 👍
..GOOD ONE. KEEP SAFE..
Alabama point! 👍
very nice.. get em
I use the Williamson Gomame Jig in silver lake blue awesome hook also. But don’t tell anyone else 😂
Never mind ,Should have watched the whole thing first. i got a jig mold called a flutter jig goes from 1/4 - 1 oz. Need to go out and fish it.
Great video brother I love to eat lady fish
How far out are you throwing? 1st gut?
its amazing how hard these small salwater fish fight, ive caught over 10lb bass, 60lb catfish, muskie, etc and it seems a 3 to 5 lb saltwater fish would kick their ass. is there something to the muscle due to the salt water ?
It’s just because it’s a whole nother world out there. So many more predators that can kill you.
What rod and reel were you using in this video?
Great video!
Looks like you are ripping that lure thru the water pretty quick.
Are you fishing on perdido pass side of hangout or fort Morgan side?
What rod and reel setup are you using
Would a Penn Slammer iii High Speed be to much reel for the Spanish or Blues?
do you just reel these in fast when using them?
So that’s a gotcha jigfish spoon, with a diamond color, kind of like a clarkspoon, SJ spoon, but has a little more shape?
I’ve got fish on both but only have a few. Now I think I need some smaller. Mine are all 1.5oz.
Matt! Haven't seen a "catch and cook" on Ladyfish. Are they any good to eat?
Ladyfish meat isn’t bloody at all. The taste is very mild and the meat is a light pink. Now, the issues; they are members of the herring family and have a strange bone structure. The meat is so soft that it is removed from the skin with a spoon, leaving the bones behind. Usually it is then made into fish balls.
It's really soft. Is good crab bait
After a day of fishing how do you typically rinse/clean your reels?
Thansk
Great question! I’d like to know as well
Have u used a mirrodine on the beach?
Great video! What size rod youh using Sir? Thank you
Cool video
Cool video.
Is that Orange beach
would this work well on Texas beaches?
You don't work that jig off the bottom at all? Do you simply swim it in the middle of the water column?
Gampang banget kayanya ya.
Sweet vid man! Just got your email! I’m ready to fish with you on June 11th!
BurtonOutdoors can’t wait to see the vid
What line and leader are you using?
What lb leader do you use
Just bought some diamond jigs for when Spanish start running
Every time I use a diamond jig in the surf I end up snapping the jig off trying to cast it . Any tips on setup from line to knots would be great .
Do you use a shock leader? About 10-20 feet of mono to add a bit of stretch to your rig.
Use a shock leader and tie a good knot. also check ur rod guide for cracks
Thanks . I Will make I do that next time !
@@tomhath8413 wouldn't a shock leader that long create a week point w the knot always hitting guides etc
@@jowhi9296 If you're going from braid to a mono leader, try the FG Knot. It's very small and very strong. If it starts to look frayed just cut a couple of inches off and re-tie
What rod/reel for this setup ?
That current is mighty rough
Will these work for striper and largemouth?
Are you pumping up ghost shrimp in the surf or at some mud flats. A question zi have for a previous video
I
hi
I am from Chicago.
Would you send me the exact address of this beach so I could get him through the navigation and catch fish in
it?
thank you 😊
The mackerel up in Maine are real oily and very strong flavored and look different than what you're catching. How do yours taste
Same is true with the mackerel I would catch when pier fishing in
Central California. Very pronounced ripple pattern across the dorsal area, very oily fish, not terribly good eating, although tasty when smoked with hickory chips in a smoker.
Where you were fishing this morning?
what brand and size hook?
What does your camera look like and do you like it ?
I like fishing
