Was at the concert in London. AJ opened the show. She was not on the program so such a big shock. Been following her ever since - quite literally, been to Norway and New Hampshire.
A 12 year old girl who has no problem interacting with an entire large orchestra and does it flawlessly, as if it were an everyday thing. What an amazing musical being Angelina is. 💛🧡❤
Hi Ellis . Sorry about your tire. Loved your stories. So amazing for young Angelina to be singing with this orchestra for Quincy Jones. Just awesome. Thankyou for your reaction. None of us would have know what the heck is going on . 😅
I love watching rehearsals! I can feel all the energy and activity going on and see how the final performance is being shaped by each person's hard work. I haven't seen the preliminary to this one before, they mostly start it from when Angelina stats singing. A pity you can't hear her too well on this, but we all know she aced it. I wonder at what point the band first met Angelina. Were they aware of who she was when they began to rehearse? I'd love to see their reactions when they first heard her sing!
The best London symphony orchestra, very professional. And be sure it was her first take and the conductor and the whole band were very satisfying She was invited personally from QJ for his 85y birthday show to open it as a surprise for the audience and his quote...the greatest talent since MJ ✌️ only 12y here 🎉 She released her first Album it's magic with the Norwegian Big band that Year including this Song ❤️
As far as I know this was the Senbla Symphony Orchestra conducted by Jules Buckley. While it is a London based symphony orchestra, is should not to be confused with the London Symphony Orchestra.
@@hans-georgschroter7887 I did not read anything about that. And he's not mentioned at the London Symphony Orchestra's Wikipedia page, and the LSO is not mentioned at his Wikipedia page. Thus I doubt there is any close connection. However, he is connected to the BBC Symphony Orchestra, but only from 2020 onwards. In 2018 he was with the Metropol Orkest from the Netherlands, and the Heritage Orchestra from London (which he co-founded). While the name Senbla Symphony Orchestra was used in many articles describing the event, it does not seam to be a permanent institution. Senbla is the name of the production company, which apparently booked an orchestra for this event. It could be one of those two - the Heritage Orchestra would be located nearby, but Jules Buckley already played Quincy Jones songs with the Metropol Orkest in 2016, so that also makes sense. I just wonder why neither would be officially mentioned. Maybe a mix of musicians from both?
I now found this at the Jules Buckley website's about page: "(...) 2015 ( ...) The following year he led the Metropole Orkest in a stunning tribute to his idol, music giant, Quincy Jones, a collaboration that continues to this day (performing in Paris, the USA and at Quincy’s 85th birthday at the O2 in 2018 which saw the legend himself perform his hits to Jules' brand new arrangements)." Thus I'd now say it was the Metropole Orkest.
I click on your Angelina videos because I like you, Ellis. And I love Angelina. So I enjoy hearing about you and find some of your stories interesting. But just a few more words about Angelina would be welcome. How about just 6 words ... "She did a nice job here".
Wow, I have never seen that one, the one that is seen most often is one that has been dubbed over with the actual performance so you could hear Angelina's voice. So this was really cool. Great find and reaction.
Those fan OVERDUBBED videos NEED A LARGE DISCLAIMER. SAME eith cell phone vid in studio if IM A FOOL YO WANT YOU. Dumb/unaware fans thonk it is live-live, stupidly.
@@rickrack4812 The studio sound dubbed on to the phone recording of "I'm a fool to want you" IS the sound the microphone picked up in that very moment. It was the voice track that was picked for the finished album (with a minor adjustment where she mispronounced a word). So it's live.
@@kristena9285 no...the MERY shot original is unproduced, raw, with orchestration volume diminidhed.... Rustys is not the corrected raw. It is off of the album. Go find the raw phone audio version... which I like, for natural reasons.
@@rickrack4812 The track from the album is the take recorded in the booth that Mery filmed on her phone. It's a (near) sound proof soloist recording booth so you can hardly hear the band which is seated in the main studio (Angelina hear the band on her earphones). Yes, the track is "edited" to an extent (volume/balance etc.).
No body is bored to tears,, this one was for you, specifically..as far as the end? Since Angelina was sitting in the corner with Michael and Mery, l would imagine this was Angelina's first take...you should hear the stage performance, breathtaking.
This was a very tight schedule - all the vocalists running through with the orchestra in just one day! Angelina had sung this song just 10 days before in a concert in Oslo, with a military band, all brass and woodwind with drums and piano. This one time run through with all those strings must have had a very different feel. Apart from this there was a short sound check at the venue on the day and on with the performance. Angelina opened the show, it was such an impressive performance - I'm sure that Quincey had a memorable birthday!
Angelina gave no indication she was uncomfortable, spoke to the director confidently.... she was living a dream come true, doing what she was born to do... Chosen by a legendary music producer.... cool as a cucumber... Being what she is, a STAR in the making... 5yrs later, standing at the door, ready to make a splash the music industry desperately needs!! PEACE!
Hi Ellis .. a bit of a backgroud of this .. The rehearsal and the Concert was done by the Senbla Symphony Orchestra conducted by Jules Buckley and here some thoughts ... Angelina is known to start a musical sentence a little late, on purpose, and then catch up. Maybe the conductor heard that and thus began directing her. She has a huge bag of tricks and knows just when and how to use them. In the video you did not watch, you can hear her sing superbly. Although there does not appear to be a recording of the final concert, Angie always does even better live. She was invited by Quincy to open his birthday celebration. Again a one take rehearsal, that show us her musical genius and experience I think I can guess what that conductor says to her right at the end...... "What!? I can't believe you just did that on the first take!" You can always tell how much Angelina impresses the musicians she works with :) Although Angelina is very humble, on stage and in arrangements of what she sings, she's THE BOSS! Don't be fooled, haha The conductor doesn't know her obviously, that why he gives cues. It's only logical. .. Quincy Jones' 85th birthday celebration at the O2 Arena in London scheduled on June 27, 2018
He didn't conduct Angelina (he counted her in, as he had the score and she didn't). The (very few) cues was for the orchestra and is more for style then "telling them when to play". He can leave the podium all together with a professional band playing "rhythmical" music like this old standard. 🙂 The concert was professionally recorded and the result can be heard on another version of this video, with the performance sound spliced onto the rehearsal video..
Great reaction, and I am one of those who actually appreciate the context and added info you bring. Keep up the great work, Buddy! Love from Norway♥♥♥♥♥
There is an edit of this video where they put the nice quality live recording over this video, and it is fantastic. Her voice is perfection. She was around 12 and a half, and she was growing like crazy that year. Became a giant in the blink of an eye.
When taking out a repeat with first and second time brackets don't forget to cross out the entire first time bracket.. I learned that the hard way... ;-)
I am sure I have seen a vid clip of Angelina pointing out something wrong with the music sheets. Angelina points it out to the conductor and you see him and Angelina correcting it with a pen or a pencil. I think it is on this same film clip. Go watch it to the very end and you will see this. Their are a few different film clips of this rehearsal. I am sure is this one, because they show Mike, Sara, and I think Mery sitting at the far end. Steve from NZ.
Enjoyed this, I never seen this one! The one I saw, didn't have all the stuff before they started. From about 15 seconds before she started singing was the one I saw and her voice was more present and it sounded like a Produced, Polished in studio recording, God Bless!
There's a version of this where someone dubbed in AJ's vocals from the actual performance from the show. The only difference is that it bumped up her vocals. Both versions are good though. Orchestras usually tune to the Oboe. Not a musician, I just do a lot of crosswords and that is an oft repeated clue.
This is an orchestra so I would say he is the conductor. They needed to get on the same page for the tempo because Angelina generally slows the tempo for her performances. This is actually the rehearsal audio, which I appreciate, someone overdubbed the actual performance on this video, but I think it’s more interesting to hear how the band interacts with Angelina. The reason you may have questions is because this is Quincy Jones arrangement that he did for Frank Sinatra which was accompanied by Count Basie’s orchestra, so this arrangement is the most well known.
@@kristena9285 I understood that, because this was 'Quincy's' event, the tempo was going to be in Quincy's original from back in the day and that everyone agreed with that.
