Motocross damper behavior, single bump

  • Riding into a square edge bump at 40kph we track fork position, fork velocity and the motion of 3 separate reference points in our video to see if we can establish a difference in damper behavior.
    Despite the concern about "all the variables" interfering with the data we can clearly see that the most significant change in all 5 plots comes from the damper tune and behavioral differences are spotted across all 5 plots.
    As clearly evidenced in the velocity plots, soft fork is very much "softer on top and stiffer at the bottom" when compared to the force distribution of stiff fork. We also see however this plays a critical roll in how the wheel for soft fork rolls over the bump and the influence that this behavior has on chassis motion.
