200 Wheel Lego Vehicle

  • A 6.4 meters long, remote-controlled, Lego road train that drives on 200 wheels. Axles are positioned at the center of each trailer to make the rear path follow the front (almost). Hinge joints are used between trailers. A few stop motion scenes included just for fun. Enjoy!

    Wheels: 200 Lego wheels of different sizes (mostly small)
    Motors: 4x Lego PF XL motor
    Battery box: 1x BuWizz 2.0 buwizz.com/sho...
    Remote control: BuWizz 2.0 + BrickController 2 app play.google.co... + PS4 wireless controller

      SOME SAY that he has never used anything other than a 2x1 brick to build anything; and that underneath his helmet is a 1x1 barrel, rather than a head. All we know is... he's LEGO STIG!

    Too bad GoPro discontinued the Session5 Camera. I have one and they are great for small spaces to get great shots!

      The small form factor of the GoPro is one of the biggest up sides. Having an even smaller version would be a no brainer in my opinion

      There's some really cool compositing here! I wonder how they made sure the stunt driver wouldn't look out of place on the hand... did they paint those shadows on manually?

    1:30 can we appreciate his effort for keeping his hand still for the entire stop motion just for a 3 second joke?

      I think that's a compositing trick (like with Santa moving as the vehicle still crosses through the frame later)!
      It'd be impossible to hold it so still that it doesn't move even a single pixel for the whole duration that the figure is moving. I wonder how exactly they handled recording the figure, though, and whether they painted the shadows on manually... it's a really cool shot!

      there is a record with the stop motion then a record the moving vehicle ... and all mashup with the editor... takes a lot of time to get seamless like he did...

    Back in the 1950s, a company called LeTourneau was working on overland train systems pretty much like this. They wanted them to be usable in many different roles like forestry or mining, off road remote work, but their most interesting contract was for an overland train to service the DEW line sites, various anti-aircraft and anti-ballistic missile radar sites that ran across Canada and Alaska. It didn't pan out for them though.

    I even remembered my childhood when, at the age of 7, I created a robot ninja from Ninjago based on drawings on a machine with a circular saw.. And there's a whole centipede here! Also, the animation is very cool and very interesting! I wish the author further deeds!

    0:17 I never knew that wheel position was how you get that effect of trailers snaking directly behind the towing vehicle. I remember at Disneyland they have shuttle vehicles like that and I always wondered how the trailers worked
