Without systematic training he won't improve much.Playing matches doesn't really address his technical deficiencies. And Moregard's game is totally clonable, actually is pretty similar to how short pips penholders used to play in the 80's, lots of pushing/smashing.
While in China, Truls will benefit from the fierce competition but perhaps also from some training. I don't know what his plans are but from this video it seems he's working on activating the forehand from the backhand side. It looks tentative: he's committing early and his shot preparation is slow and stiff. Compared to the Chinese at least. I guess he's trying to develop a more versatile style from his natural blocking style, including attacking moves like the runaround fh.
last year i was commenting that Truls needs more systematic training and challenges so that he can rely on more consistent playing strategies rather than unique tricks to win the game, because when you play at high level with Ma and Fan etc..tricks can win the points but cannot win the game..some of his fans bashed me so hard.....now look..he is playing in chinese league..i will not be surprised that after this his mental power and play strategies will be at much higher level...good move Truls..

Truls in China is a symbiotic relationship. He gets to improve his game and they get to study him and maybe clone in the future.
The whole Chinese cloning thing is actually real, but I believe that Truls is uncloneable.
