Elvis COVERED. He wasn't copying. He gave credit to the original artists. I can say that Chuck was closer to what we consider to be true RnR, but "calling out" aother artist as a copy of others is simply WRONG. Copying is using a song, saying you created it. Elvis didn't do that.
Even before Chuck Berry, there was a black woman by the name of Sister Rosseta Thorpe played guitar and sung rock and roll, that very few people know about because of white America, I play guitar myself, so I went and researched the history of guitar players, so I could understand how it came about, now I know who's who!!!
I don't think I ever saw the Grateful Dead not play a Berry song. He even does the duck on this tune. He was great......
So the Johnny Rivers version is a cover??!! WOW, never knew Chuck Berry made this! I was born in ‘71 so y’all excuse my ignorance

Its called cultural appropriation.
