Age 60 and Audrey still had that magic glow about her--emanating from within. Her work on behalf of UNICEF had not begun to take its toll. The more she traveled on behalf of the Earth's most vulnerable children, the more she suffered and the more her health was negatively affected. In March 1990, I had the privilege of seeing her perform in Philadelphia with the New World Symphony during the Concert for Life series. She was magical.

Yes, and she was Dutch! She lived most of her formative years with her mother and grandparents in Arnhem (most of elementary- and all of high school). She's always introduced as British because her father was British and that gave her a British passport! I also suspect the media often kept the Dutch out of it as ... Dutch and glamour .... do not go together.... She spoke fluent 'Nederlands'

@@sabinelhoste3244 Sa connaissance de l'anglais est surtout justifiée par les origines de son père, Joseph Ruston, britannique, il était il est directeur de la filiale bruxelloise de la Banque d'Angleterre fin des années 20 et avait rencontré son épouse dans à Jakarta, en Indonésie Néerlandaise (à l'époque). Un peu à l'image de la bourgeoisie Bruxelloise, Audry pratiquait plusieurs langues (ce qui était commun à Bruxelles, le Français ainsi que le néerlandais) et la langue usuelle au sein du foyer semblait bien être l'anglais. En 1934, à cinq ans, elle se découvre une passion pour la danse classique. À cette époque, elle vit entre Londres, les Pays-Bas et la Belgique au gré des besoins du métier de son père. Elle était polyglotte dès son enfance.

J'aurais été tiraillé entre le fait d'avoir tant de questions à lui poser sur sa vie et son oeuvre , ou le fait que je me serais tu et je me serais contenté de l'admirer en silence , sans parler , en me contentant d'être là , honoré de cette chance . I happen to agree with lesleybeltran, the guy that wont shut up almost made me stop watching this. However, she is so beautiful and eloquent that you just can't stop watching her. Since I was a child I loved her. My mother loved her as well and raised us watching the 'classics". And I thank her for that. At every age, including her golden years, Audrey was one of the most beautiful women I have ever seen. Wow, to age like that...I wouldn't fear getting old! LOL!! Always a beauty she was!
