- At the invitation of the Jewglers (the Jewish group at Google) and the Talks At Google program, the Maccabeats performed at the Google NYC Chanukah Party on December 2, 2013, the sixth night of Chanukah.

Originally formed in 2007 as Yeshiva University's student vocal group, the Maccabeats have emerged as both Jewish music and a cappella phenomena, with a large fanbase, more than 15 million views on UA-cam, numerous TV appearances, and proven success with two albums.
Though the Maccabeats aren't your grandfather's synagogue choir, their ideology and identity play an important part in what they do. Strongly committed to the philosophy of Torah u-Madda, the integration of traditional and secular wisdom, the Maccabeats perform an eclectic array of Jewish, American, and Israeli songs. Their breakthrough piece, Lecha Dodi, is the epitome of this synthesis, combining some of the most beloved words of Jewish liturgy with Leonard Cohen's meaningful and melodic Hallelujah.

A great performance and the banter was funny too. The audience was so flat as to be almost humorous as well. I had always assumed that the Maccabeats' recordings were heavily engineered, but this was live and amazing

One of the saddest audience I have ever seen for live music…a Chanukah "Party"? Were they sleep-deprived, over-medicated or simply the most bored collection of statues on the planet? The Maccabeats are great…their music makes me smile as it's so bloody good!

I know that lady who introduced the Maccabeats! I met her at Camp Ramah in New England.
What did you do to get sent to a camp in the first place ?
I was never a camper as a child. Camp Ramah in New England is in my town. I have worked for them Summers since 2008.

Very nice but I have to say that as a musician I find it really irritating when performers encourage the audience to clap along and drown out the wonderful harmony of such a great group!

ok so yeh me again ha you probably think "whos that lonely looney girl? get a life!" so just so you know ppfff me? a life?? you gy=uys that was kind og omy.. this is just my third time watching this and may i say that ok lets not get all crazy&stuff but that was one an belivable preformance and yeah i know whats a good preformance and i wasnt even there. i like enjoyed (calmly and in a normal humanly way) every single minute of it! i siad minute? ment well second no you get the idea.
but anywho yes i do have a life and gosh you guys in the audience THE MACCABEATS were preforming not judging but seriously show a little bit more-- and dont get me worng im a quiet person but aaaaa... ok just saying but anyway yeah you were lucky to be there.. living in a small monute country gets you used to that kind of stuff btw speaking of which- "of the maccabees in Israel?" did i hear correctly?? in ISRAEL??? you oh come on you even sing of it so maby if its possible please please please??!!
about the preformance (moving on /changing subject) wowwww i *LOVED* it!! it was epic and you know what? ggggggg aaaaa im still recovering (not kidding) but you know just next time can you also sing "come back"? just to make it P-er-fect. sirously that was one amazing thing (yep im starting to repeat my words and by now you're like girl get a life! i do not care :-P) the "adds" to candlelight made it *perfect* even more!!!!! Chanina was jst in place and all really the addaings made it perfect. ok ill say it you were really good all of you. really professionally done and you cracked me up just saying.

about the Nasa story well im a HUGE astronomy (caps lock off) fan and my dream (not kidding!) is to go to the nasa place in Hustern tx (i was freaking out when my saba went there because of his reserch etc but he left me hanging haha) but yeah (not my fault im getting carried away its not me who posted this video but dont get me worng (dont!) aa yeah so doing fine i gess trying to but that was one hack (heck hack hecikng whatever) of preformance!! lovedd it!! (rap reap reap) im just so pumped up now.
