The ISP Theta Pro MSX has an excellent "Boston" pre-set patch. Best analog sounding digital processor I've ever heard. Worth checking out even if it's just for that "Boston" patch!
I was 11 years old. This was my childhood. Tom Scholz doesn't know that yet. This makes me want to buy it just to make sure he knows what he means to me.
Sounds like you've either got an earth-loop issue in your signal-chain, or a grounding issue in your guitar, use a multimeter set to continuity test to check if your guitar's bridge is properly grounded to the output-jack.
Maybe you covered it, hard to hear. But are they tube amps or SS? Also, I don't like that you just can't clip it on your belt😂. Cool equipment, how did you get it?
Loved the Rockman stuff, Dunlop could reproduce these units not sure why.But not going to sound like the originals, Randall made the speakers and power amps.
@@donsmith5385 yes it was Carver. I edited and corrected. Carvin would have been a plot twist! Randall made the Rockman 220 single rack power amplifier. I’m sure there’s maybe 20 of those. The Rockman 500 was Carver PM-175. I’m not sure what the guts were inside the XP-100
@@dcdno_one2393 what a plot twist indeed! I am just learning about Carver being involved. The Carver stuff was always full range, where as the Randall was either or. I am primarily a solid state rack guy, these Randall power amps are amazing when run then CC mode. Not sure how the power amps were set in the Rockman stuff. Seeing the speaker cabs probably were set to CV mode.
Someone needs to re-create this effect. I had the 1/2 racks ( back in the old days ) - such unique sounding units ( little noisy though ). Nice demo.
Surprised you don't see it on modelers... amplitube has the Rickman but that's it.
Nice review. The Rockman gear and sound is outstanding. I own an XPR 100 rackmount. This unit nails the 80’s sound.
Best amp I've ever owned. My band, The Sacrificed, uses Rockman and Mesa Boogie to get the magic tone.

Great piece... very collectible

I relate to the five cups of coffee!
It's kind of essential to start the day lol

All Rockman gear is 100% solid state.
IT'S ACTUALLY COMP, AFTER PRE EQ

Carver made the bigger amplifiers. They were PM-175s.

great demo. It's Scholz, not Schultz.
Yup. Might just be my Philly/Texas combo accent lol
Who else is here because Buckethead used to use one of these
Same and Nuno Bettencourt used one also
It looks super cool. it sounds super terrible
It doesn’t sound terrible. For that era, sounds dope.
You spend far more time talking than playing. Who does that?!!!
Someone who can't really play lol
Glad you did your best anyway and showed it, thx
