They're doing a really simple drum pattern but it sounds great. It almost sounds like the drums in 'Enter Sandman'. They must have done something. Metallica said they went out and bought all the wood they could find and built a huge wooden background so the drums would echo.

My first "big-time" concert ever, and first exposure to Christian music other than 'choir music'. Couldn't hear right for a week, but WOW! What a show! Thanks, guys, for decades of awesome music and ministry!
I was around 3 years old the first time I ever heard heavy metal and it was Stryper - The Way, the love for distorted guitars stuck with me ever since and i remembered that riff all throughout my childhood.
Way back in the early 80s, I turned my cousin on to heavy metal. One day, he gave me this album and said, "You gotta hear this band." I was blown away. He told me to ignore the words because they were "stupid." Stryper planted the seeds, and then years later, I accepted Jesus at a Christian Heavy Metal band's jam session (Haven.) Stryper holds a special place in my heart. I remember jamming to their music in the car with my BFF, and trying to hit all of Michael's high notes. To this day, I can happily still do that (and creep my kids out at the same time which is a bonus. LOL) You can't take the rock or the metal out of the girl no matter how old she gets!
Same here. I sawthem back in the mid 80's at the dynamo open air festival in the netherlands. The crowd where making wooden crosses and turn them upside down. They started to throw things on stage. And it became to dangerous for stryper to continue. They went of stage and came back 5 min later and it was the best concert i've ever bin too. 18 years later Jesus came in to my life.
I remember in high school they showed the entire school a film that featured many metal bands I guess to make us pay attention more. So when each metal band in the credits was listed everyone in the entire school would applaud for each one until the name Stryper came up was the only time everyone hissed and booed lol. I was shocked and did not know why until later I found out they were a jesus freak band lol
I'm 42 and last week started to go to church. Love it makes me feel good and to get relief. Trust in God. Funny I've been listening to this band my whole life and something just hit me. There is a God. God bless you all
I love it when I see comments like "I'm an Athiest and I love Stryper" because it just shows that people out there can put religion aside and enjoy the amazing music that was given to us.
I'm a follower of Christ and simply love Stryper. Micheal Sweet's voice into falsetto is absolutely insane and still to this day. I almost think their albums now are heavier than their previous releases like this one. All and all.. Glory be to the Lord Jesus Christ for this band.
The absolute greatest vocals ever recorded in the history of music. I discovered Stryper when they first came out with The Yellow and Black Attack ep. I have loved them since. I have always felt like Michael has a voice so powerful that there's literally no music that can match it. But with this song, he begins singing with drums only, and then the music tries to match it. The greatest vocalist ever. Can you imagine sitting in the recording studio and hearing that voice ringing through the monitors? It had to just blow everyone away. Here I am now, 54 years old, seen and heard everything and everyone from every genre, but still to this day, I have never heard anything touch this. Put in your earphones, close your eyes, and listen carefully to how each word was sung. It took a Holy God's touch to sing like that!

I love Stryper. As a Christian Believer it is awesome to hear a band that has been gifted by God to jam for the Lamb!!! In addition to this they have the musical skills right up there with the Megadeths and other heavy technical bands of the world.
Megadeth has Dave and David that are born again Christians. Kiko was talking about how they pray together before every show. Stryper was definitely up there with the best of them in skill, and passion! They were in my opinion one of the great Metal bands of the 80s.
I use to occationally have dinner with Oz Fox and his son and I use to sing in Chior when we were in college. Oz Fox is not only a super talented guitar player, he is a super cool human being. He walks the walk and is one of the most charitable people you will ever meet. He is too humble to talk about it, but I will say it. He is a man of immense generosity.
I have been a fan from rhe beginning. Im 54 years old. Stryper really helped me in my younger years. It is not the style of music, it is the lyrics that fed my spirit.
Now this band is a real band. I love both Rock and Christian music so this combined makes one of the greatest Christan metal bands of all time. The devil doesn't make me like Rock, this band does. In my eyes, the devil is a joke. I love you Lord Jesus.
Jason Scheps Neither Demon hunter nor Oh sleeper are really heavy,go listen to for today, fit for a king,Becoming the archetype and mortification for heavier Christian metal
God doesn't care what kind of music you play as long as you are not hurting anyone. Just use the talent He gave you, that is all that matters. Bonus if you can bring a few people to the faith in the process. Kudos to these guys for doing what they do in the face of criticism.
The last time I really listened to Stryper was when this album came out. Decided to check some of the more recent stuff and it still kicks. Watched a live video from 2018 and he still belts it out like nobody's business.
The seed was planted when I got this album. No one in my home read the Bible but out of curiosity I looked up Isaiah 53:5 and it left an impression on me. Now I still had some walking on the wrong path to go because afterall music in the 80’s was powerful and I lived so close to Hollywierd how was I NOT going to check all that action out! God did protect me though. The worst I didn’t in those days was smoke cigs I was always the designated driver and we where younger than most in that era getting a little bit of a late start but in 93 I got SAVED! God is Amazing how he draws His children to him!!!!!
All kidding aside I love metal music period. From thrash to regular. It's funny my cousin is into that screamo shit .And he wanted to go with me to megadeth poor guy didn't last five seconds before he was crying to go home
Metal and Christianity don't always mix but when they do, its just as great a sound as any other sleazy greasy metal the rest of us love. If Christians can't be metal, someone better tell Alice Cooper that. He's said himself, he's a good Christian boy and a firm believer.
***** wow you are closed mined those guys are christian im friend with them and the music they play is christian if you cant hear it look up the lyrics. it is christian music you are just trying to limit God to what he can do im sure you know where hymns come from and where other songs like it come from. if you dont research it maybe you will learn something.
***** you tell me where in the bible does it dictate the type of musical Genre i can listen to that is considered worship? because as far as i can see there is none that does so shut your legalism down and open your mind to the fact that God can use anything for His glory. maybe you arent a christian because if you were you would be able to feel God in this music. maybe you need to get out of your little world and see how many souls this music leads to Christ.
I remember as a kid I had never heard of Stryper until Jimmy Swaggart and Jerry Falwell started lambasting them on television. Of course I had to check it out and fell in love with their music and it was a stepping stone to AC/DC and Ozzy.

He walks the walk and is one of the most charitable people you will ever meet. He is too humble to talk about it, but I will say it. He is a man of immense generosity.
This album is great from start to finish.
One of the best metal bands, hands down.
What a message. I remember this band. And listening to Winter wonderland in Winter. These guys had some nerve.
I grew up to this even went to a recording signing for them love Micheal Sweets voice the range is phenomenal noone like him ever
Fond memories of this song and calling on you…..what an awesome group, loads of talent from the Lord
I'm not Christian I am my own God. Born breathing and standing my brothers and sisters live up to your own highs!
I am a christian and live by the will of Christ! I still Love STRYPER!!!!!!
I have been a fan from rhe beginning. Im 54 years old. Stryper really helped me in my younger years. It is not the style of music, it is the lyrics that fed my spirit.
Stiryr is a awsome band back in the 80s an 90s
in Christ we are to love everyone even the enemies.
Jason Barbush Amen
Great heavy tune, great guitar, amazing vocals!
Still loving this song all these years later.
those guitar harmonies in the chorus are just haunting. Gives me the chills.
Singing about real evil and good spiritual struggles is most BA! We need more!
Listen to their last 4 albums.... Amazing!!
1. The Final Battle
2. Fallen
3. God damn Evil
4. Even the devil believes
EXCELLENT
Dan always makes me find cool things on the internet.
saaaame
Super Mario Maker - PART 132 for future references.
Now this band is a real band. I love both Rock and Christian music so this combined makes one of the greatest Christan metal bands of all time. The devil doesn't make me like Rock, this band does. In my eyes, the devil is a joke. I love you Lord Jesus.
Best Christian band from the 80's!
Geoffroxx Putting Christianity is as metal as you can get in my opinion... it's like a giant middle finger followed by praying for forgiveness 😂
pedrojamiz1 check out Deamon Hunter and oh sleeper for real heavy metal christian music
Jason Scheps Neither Demon hunter nor Oh sleeper are really heavy,go listen to for today, fit for a king,Becoming the archetype and mortification for heavier Christian metal
Agree!
You forgot The Resurrection Band....or The Rez..
Michael Sweet has some voice. Still listening to Stryper’s music in 2021. Thanx for uploading great pics and words🤟
finally! I can listen to this heavy metal music and my mom won't throw my tape away
cool
Dude, your mom sucks.
God don't care how you praise, just that you do. Jesus is for everyone.
Not me apparently. Your god hasn't chosen to make me a believer. Guess I get to burn in hell. Your god is a dick.
37 years late and this song still rocks!
I’m so glad my dad listened to this when I was growing up. I’m one of the lucky few who is into everything from this to Andrea Bocelli to 2pac 😂
Saw them live when they first came out and had the ridiculous bumblebee outfits. Awesome very talented band.
AWESOME BAND. I SAW THEM OPEN FOR JUDAS PRIEST IN 1986. THEY ROCKED.✝️💜🇺🇲
God doesn't care what kind of music you play as long as you are not hurting anyone. Just use the talent He gave you, that is all that matters. Bonus if you can bring a few people to the faith in the process. Kudos to these guys for doing what they do in the face of criticism.
paul AMEN
Yes!!!
Michael Sweet, one hell of a good vocalist (no pun intended) - amazing fact he can still hit those G#5 shouts like Glenn Hughes!
The last time I really listened to Stryper was when this album came out. Decided to check some of the more recent stuff and it still kicks. Watched a live video from 2018 and he still belts it out like nobody's business.
This Is The Song That I Love From These Guys . Hard Hitting And Insane Vocals .
Screaming along to this album on the way home from work in 2023!
I haven’t heard the new stuff! Which album should I get! I did listen to some of Michael Sweets stuff back in the early 2000’s
Great song, great band and still going strong if not stronger than ever :)
Stryper is still around?! To the GOOGLES!
well growing up I was told that metal music was Satan but now that I'm older and not so easy to fool I say metal music is awesome .
+Michael Martinez Depends on the lyrics of the song.
Lyrics are good but to me the best part of a metal song is the guitar solo gotta appease the metal Gods lol
All kidding aside I love metal music period. From thrash to regular. It's funny my cousin is into that screamo shit .And he wanted to go with me to megadeth poor guy didn't last five seconds before he was crying to go home
Michael Martinez
Avok Toln Jesus is Lord of all
Just heads up on the lyrics:
Speak of the devil
He's no friend of mine
to turn from him "it" is what
"we've got" in mind
had to listen before the for king and country version with lecrae came out.
I love how this song is so unbelievably good it unites Christians and atheists. Just pure 80s metal energy!
Metal and Christianity don't always mix but when they do, its just as great a sound as any other sleazy greasy metal the rest of us love. If Christians can't be metal, someone better tell Alice Cooper that. He's said himself, he's a good Christian boy and a firm believer.
Dave Mustaine, Dave Ellefson, Dee Snider, Erik Turner, CC Deville, Rob Halford and numerous other famous metal musicians are openly Christian too.
Carl Claessens Rob Halford can be who ever the hell he wants to be he is The Metal Fucking God

Jonathan Hlakos, you're a fucking fascist.
Hahaa! That's what people do when they have no real arguments - namecalling.
The ending is epic! "Devilllll! DEVVVIIIIIILLAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!" \m/
if you think these guys are good you should check out Waiting in Darkness by Sacred Warrior that guy his higher than Michael.
***** wow you are closed mined those guys are christian im friend with them and the music they play is christian if you cant hear it look up the lyrics. it is christian music you are just trying to limit God to what he can do im sure you know where hymns come from and where other songs like it come from. if you dont research it maybe you will learn something.
***** you tell me where in the bible does it dictate the type of musical Genre i can listen to that is considered worship? because as far as i can see there is none that does so shut your legalism down and open your mind to the fact that God can use anything for His glory. maybe you arent a christian because if you were you would be able to feel God in this music. maybe you need to get out of your little world and see how many souls this music leads to Christ.
one of the heaviest guitar solos E-VER!
I remember as a kid I had never heard of Stryper until Jimmy Swaggart and Jerry Falwell started lambasting them on television. Of course I had to check it out and fell in love with their music and it was a stepping stone to AC/DC and Ozzy.
Gotta love that 80s operatic metal scream at the end -- icing on the cake!
