      would like to point out that you got the roman concrete wrong. While what you said was partially true it missed alot about what makes roman concrete special. See most concrete "rots" after a few hundred years. Roman concrete doesnt. It has nothing to do with cracks forming, its a chemical thing. Roman concrete doesnt. It was figured out recently that this is due to using volcanic ash in making it. This is why Portland Cement in the US is so prized as like the Romans they use volcanic ash.

    I think that we as a modern people forget that ancient people were very intelligent and resourceful. We think that were so much more advanced because of our technology and everything that we have and that these ancient civilizations couldn’t have possibly been asintelligent as us. But by us solving these ancient mysteries, we see that that’s not the truth. These ancient civilizations were just as intelligent, and sometimes even more resourceful than modern civilizations are…

      The way I see it is like this, in every generation or period of time in human history, it generally falls down to same thing, there are people who are very knowledgeable in whatever it is, they know exactly what they are talking about and they use that knowledge to perfect their skills and any results from them show that, and then there are those who don't know what they are talking about at all but think and/or claim that they do and their results also speak too.
      There's always been people who gain and then apply knowledge correctly and use it wisely* Vs People who don't gain and then apply that knowledge incorrectly _(or they do gain the right knowledge but then misapply it)_ and those people seam to get a lot more attention/focus from people now and then they conclude that people of that generation or time period were not very intelligent, when really those kind of people are only a part of it, there'll be other people of that same time period who's knowledge was correct and they did brilliant things or great results came from them using such knowledge wisely.
      _(*That's essentially what wisdom is, wisdom is the right application of knowledge, which is knowledge being used in wise, practical and intelligent ways as the having of knowledge is only part of it, its what you then do with it that truly matters.)_

    I was accidentally part of the Paulding Light discovery! My family is from there, and we were visiting over the summer. When we were very little, we saw the ghost light once, so we went back when we were older, but this time, during the day. Some students from the University of Michigan said they were there to solve this mystery, so we helped them out. We hiked to the nearest hill, got to the top, and measured our location from the original point, which, if I'm correct, was about 3.5 miles out. When we returned, one of the students did some calculations and discovered that that hill was directly in the center from the viewpoint and a highway 7 miles out. So what happens at night is a highway 7 miles out, and the hill directly in the center at a perfect height distorts the lights, giving it that lantern effect, while fog can make it look glowing. Funnier thing was right when that student did calculations to find out that that highway was 7 miles out, my uncle looked at the guard rail which someone simply wrote "7 miles" amongst the other names and grafitti. My dad had a really nice camera with a zooming lens at the time, and we got a blurry picture of a car on said highway from the vantage point, which I still have somewhere. I think we also took a photo with the students, but it was such a long time ago for me. It was the most Scooby Doo thing I've ever been a part of.

    King Richard III got his royal burial. But the Princes in the Tower aka the King he forced to give the crown and his little brother hasn't.
    Yeah, the Hunchback King really is a villain til the end.

    • @alisoncircus
      @alisoncircus Місяць тому

      Except, no. There's evidence that the princes were alive and well when Richard died - evidence of household expenses and orders placed on their behalf, which would be extremely difficult to forge as it is scattered in single lines throughout the household documents. And, further, there was no benefit to Richard in having them killed. They had already been declared "illegitimate" by an act of open Parliament, in a Writ of Attainder.
      The Writ was repealed by Richard's successor, Henry Tudor, who claimed the throne "by right of might and marriage" - the marriage being to the boys' sister, Ann, who was also illegitimate (their dad was a bigamist - proved in the hearing that resulted in the Writ). There would have been zero benefit in marrying a bastard, so he had the Writ repealed WITHOUT READING, which was never done except this one time, but the years that had passed since its passage had blurred memories as to why it had been passed in the first place, so not reading it ensured no one would be reminded - or emboldened to speak of it. Repealing it, however, made the boys King and Heir respectively, so AT THAT TIME it was worthwhile to Henry to have them quietly killed off.
      Which is when the household stopped recording purchases on their behalf.
      Henry then spent the rest of his reign killing off every Plantaganet he could identify, in England, Scotland, and France, down to babes in arms - because every single one of them had a stronger claim to the throne than he did if he didn't maintain his "might". The few that he missed were taken care of his son, Henry VIII. You recall how kind and measured Henry VIII was about everything, right? Like father like son, I guess. But the fact that the Plantaganets were all killed off is WHY there was no one significant to marry Elizabeth off to; there wasn't anyone from any English royal lineage left, including Tudors. Which, subsequently, is why Elizabeth's successor was the King of Scotland, by invitation from Parliament, despite the fact she'd been at war with Scotland her entire reign.
      There wasn't anybody else. Henry Tudor killed them all, with just a bit of help from his son.
      Meanwhile, Richard III would gain absolutely zero benefit from killing his nephews, and in fact, as he had no children of his own, he had named the elder nephew his designated heir despite his illegitimate status.
      So, no. Richard was never the villain, and the City of York wrote a lamentation for his death in their official city records WHICH NOT EVEN THE TUDORS dared to have stricken from the books, as it would have triggered an uprising in the name of their "beloved son of York".
      The "villain" image was created by Thomas Moore, who was a wholly owned sycophant of Henry's, and popularized by Shakespeare, who not only wrote FICTION, but wrote it for QUEEN ELIZABETH. Henry's granddaughter. Do you think he'd get far lauding the king her grandfather stole the throne from? Really?
      This is just one of those myths that refuses to be debunked. Actual historians (unlike Moore) have gone through the records and the archeology, and published proofs of what really happened in every century since Richard's death... and still the lies go on.
      And just as a side note, "The Tower of London" is not and never was a prison. It was the Plantaganet's official London residence, well walled and guarded against brigands and assassins. Their home "castle" was in York, but Parliament met in London so when they were there, they lived in the Tower. You should go see it, if you're ever in London. Really a very pleasant place for a castle; most castles are far less comfortable.

      Sir Thomas, a knight took him out as Richard told Thomas he would kill his sons if he did not join him in the battle where he died. Both princes were already dead.

    • @alisoncircus
      @alisoncircus Місяць тому +1

      @@dthomas9230 No, they were not. Sorry you believe the fiction. And that "sir thomas" was in fact Sir James Tyrell, who confessed to the murder (or so claimed Thomas More). It's possible that he did commit the murders, although not at the time specified by the fiction. In 1486 he received TWO pardons, spaced only weeks apart, from Henry - and that's an indication that he did some clandestine work for Henry in the interval between. What it was, however, cannot be established.
      The fact is, the household books show purchases made on behalf of the two princes AFTER RICHARD'S DEATH, and, as specified above, Richard would get no benefit from killing them, while Henry NEEDED to kill them to retain the throne.

    • @jenniferrogers2981

      They were [allegedly) used as a tactic by the Persians when fighting Egyptians. As the latter worshipped cats/found them sacred, they would do everything in their power not to harm them. The Persians would carry them on the front line and no arrows were shot at them for fear of harming the cats. This was all according to Polyaenus. it's easy to make symmetric circles with a rope and stick, you can do it on paper too. just hold one end of the rope at the center point, pull the rope taught. holding on to the other end of the rope walk around in a circle. you'll get a perfect circle every time.

      Given no complete remains have ever been found in the pyramids main chamber. Where they were supposed to be buried it's a wonder they were ever built at all Given our current theories. It's suffice to say we know next to nothing about the pyramids. Even the copper tools theory falls apart they would of needed thousands of tools as they would dull/be destroyed real quick. At least given our theory of water sand copper. We've only ever found incomplete remains, what if they were used as the place were the pharaoh under went a sort of metamorphosis and achieved being DNA spliced. Could explain only some bones/organs. They loved animals and with every day that passes we get closer and closer/know DNA splicing is a thing that can be achieved. I doubt that would of been given to just anyone. One things for certain we know nothing and they were one of the smartest civilation to exist. They understood language changes so they write in pictures. Maybe were just too dumb/arrogant to take them at their face value. Why else did they write in pictures while also building things we can't achieve today?

    The conclusions on the Martin Bormann mystery maybe greatly over-simplified here. Mark Felton did an excellent serious about this topic (ua-cam.com/video/rjUtrTAtPFg/v-deo.htmlsi=0S5LD0vr4jMGuAPz). Evidence suggests that Bormann did escape to and later die in South America, but some of his remains were moved to Berlin in an attempt to cover this up.
