How medal event is judged:
Semifinal:
2 heats of 6 athletes in a 18-minute jam session. If an athlete falls, the clock buzzer will sound and their run is over. Best run counts (:40 seconds max.), ranked 1-6. Judges will rank competitors throughout the contest. Top 3 athletes from each heat will advance to the final.
Final:

totally agree, creative using the park in a way no one does, kickflip indy over it, the rest of the run basically was the same as the rest, except first place elimination, so id say its easily a 83-85 score!
Look at the crowd and the rest of the skaters, they all congratulate her like she did something amazing, they all acknowledge it

Just to reiterate, Yurin Fujii was massively underscored.
Those boos were 100% justified.
You're allowed to your own personal opinion. It doesn't work that way though. I don't know of the crowd is japanese or just focusing on the wow-factor. It's silly. If Fujii doesn't fall in her second run, she's top 3. She didn't have as many elements as marhofer, a couple weren't the most technical tricks, she even took the time to do a plain air. Just one trick will not make up for missing elements. Marhofer had variations of handplants, use of the course and had a more complete run with tricks no one else did. It reminds me of sabre norris vs Brighton zeuner when they competed against each other in park. If norris goes over the coping, she wins...she didn't and won Silver...

I can't even imagine how insane these girls are going to be when they're older. For context, Lizzie wasn't really dominating until she was 19. Btw where was Sky brown, is she injured?

this next generation of women are changing the game. 12 and 13 year old ladies dominating, in 5-10 years womens skateboarding is taking a massive jump and will be on par with the men i believe

Especially street imo. Those ladies are already catching up to the men! Park I would say as well but not quite to the same degree (YET). Vert, hard to say. I enjoyed every women’s contest but vert it seemed the combination of many extremely young and lightweight ladies combined with the giant ramp, they just mostly weren’t able to maximize their speed. I say mostly because 1-2 of them did well getting more air.
That was my first time seeing womens vert though so I don’t want to think too much into it. I myself am a smaller and lighter male, I know getting speed can be a tad harder with less mass but it certainly is possible especially if you are strong and good at pumping. Look forward very much so to the future of women’s skateboarding (bmx next?!)

nothing against marhoeffer, but it really looked like the judges didnt want her to drop out of top 3 on qualification and on finals both... shout outs to arisa for duo gold though!! absolutely earned that!
The ladies are tearing up the course and along with that my mind. The levels keep rising. Whoever said women can't skate? They can do anything men can do. I think their proving time is over. They can more than hold their own. C'mon the women!!

Hadn't seen much of her skating before but quickly became a fan. Another of the many Brazilian park rippers. Love that attacking style.

No, but an amazing trick. Trew's second run in the final is way above that, and that should never have been an 88. It was like a 1/10 from her first run and still a massive upgrade🙄🙃. The judges did some weird things, but not in the way you think...but it has the wow-factor. Absolutely!

ARISA TREW IS INCREDIBLE
To the people who is obsessed with the fujii/marhofer thing:the amount of elements matters. It's just like if a skater does a completely revolutionizing trick under the coping. That's all it takes for judges to put a skater 2nd instead of 1st. Kind of a similar situation to this where. Fujii doesn't have as many elements as Marhofer. That's enough to not send Fujii through. They don't need any more justification than that...
Kinda a naive question on my part, but do they leave the skatepark inplace after the X-Games or do they tear it all back down? Would be a pity if Ventura doesn't get to keep it. thanks
I think they keep it, but im not sure, would be a crime against skating if they demolished this insane park

It's not like it's close to do something with the top 2 scores...Just the fact that marhofer does more elements(some very technical ones) is alone enough. Fujii didn't do enough elements. It's not the discussion some of you think it is, even though it was an impressive thing to pull off.
