Meet scholarship winner Julie Luu, carpenter and journeyman

Congratulations to Julie Luu, one of our most recent Path 2 Pro Home Depot Foundation Scholarship winners! Julie is studying carpentry and working towards her Journeyman Certificate through Santiago Canyon College in collaboration with her local Carpenters Union Training Center in CA.
"My grandparents and parents immigrated from Vietnam which makes me a first generation American in my family. I’ve grown up fascinated with creating something tangible using many different tools on art projects at school and home. I enjoy the process of using my hands and an imagination. My parents also taught me a strong work ethic.
My passion for skilled trades was a combination of my love of working with tools and my hands and an environment that I can display true work ethic. Construction to me is not just a job. It’s a career that I feel I’ve found an opportunity and the opportunities are endless. I see myself becoming a Journeyman carpenter and Safety Professional."
