Hiking Mount Pickens & Hawks Peak, Angeles National Forest, La Cañada-Flintridge, CA.
In a macro sense, this is one of the many routes that leads to Mount Lukens. However, instead of taking it all the way to Mount Lukens, I decided to explore some of the prominent front range peaks that often get overlooked in the range. Mount Pickens and Hawks Peak are two of them. They get little visitation, despite hiding in plain sight from the city below. Even from Mount Lukens Fire road, these peaks are accessible via bushwhacking on overgrown firebreaks that intersect the road. Thus, there are remote visits even from the fire road. For San Gabriel Mountain peak climbers, this is a definite visit at least once.
