IRAC (Issue/Rule(or principle)/Analysis(or application)/Conclusion) is a most useful set of training wheels for complete beginners unfamiliar with legal reasoning. At some point, the training wheels are cast aside as one inevitably develops a personal style. That personal style will, however, expressly or impliedly incorporate all the elements of IRAC or something essential will be missing. IRAC is like your primary school copybook, which allows you to eventually develop your own handwriting that uniquely manifests the basic structures.

This is great insight - after we finished filming, we had actually said off camera that it *is* necessary to be able to identify the issue at hand in any given scenario as well, so we see the benefit of including the "I" component in the structure. Your reasoning behind the training wheels definitely confirms what we were thinking! Thanks very much for the input, Prof Hall 🙏🏻

Yes, I completely agree. allowing yourself to be a degenerate from time to time is the best way to fight burnout. I have been working everyday since first of September and two days of the week I do 12 hour shifts. I have one week left of this madness and I was only able to get this far because I spend the little time I have off being a complete degenerate, I can't share what I do at this time but use you imagination.

You had us until the last sentence there, ngl - but we're starting to think that we might have different definitions of "complete degenerate" 😅 glad to hear that you've found a way to manage your own burnout tho!

As someone not working in law, I find much of the content in these types of videos to be super relatable to my career (public accounting). And while not all of it is applicable, I enjoy learning about an industry other than my own. Love the channel!

Hi, I recently started watching your videos, and my God, the content is amazing. Can you guys make a video about how lawyers can get into the habit of staying updated with the new laws and deals happening in their jurisdiction.

Reading through publications/legal news resources and websites really help to stay updated with new laws and relevant judgments

We're happy to hear that you're enjoying our content! Generally speaking, laws don't change super quickly so usually when there is a change, news travels quickly and the change will be talked about amongst lawyers in a certain practice area. For new deals or interpretations of existing laws, financial and legal news publications are helpful (many of them offer update emails straight to your email inbox, so subscribing to some of the relevant ones can be helpful)

What’s your thoughts on the intellectual virtues in relation to law? Do you focus more on positive law rather than natural law?
