well the reason meta dominates the market is because they make affordable headsets at good quality.
I totally agree with you. Meta really needs some competition in the vr market, they can’t be the only ones making the most popular headsets. And in the games part that is also true, most people just stick with the same games over and over, they just don’t bother to play anything else.
Love them or hate them, if it wasn't for Meta, VR would be basically dead already. They provide VR headsets at a low markup with the ability to play both PCVR and standalone.

With people just talking to each other in VR.. It sounds like we need an Everquest of VR.
Morrowind in VR has been great.
The problem with Facebook (meta) is that they are 'good'≈ with social media, not with games or gaming, they have fired the lead Oculus developers one of which has worked at Id software back in quacke times. They have been trying effortlessly to shove in their oasis vr or whatever its called, instead of focusing on the really important stuff.
I just hope that valve, pico or HTC will finally beat them up, because this is bad. Valve knows a lot about gaming, infact before oculus were bought by Facebook they were working with valve. Valve has realesed the steam deck which is the ultimate gaming device at a good price.
Facebook closes any online game when they want without any issues which is just stupid.
I thought meta horizons was pretty gimmicky until I found the entertainment/events. 3D concerts are a very cool experience and I think they could do so much more with 3d entertainment

I just bought a second vr for more play time 😂😂 with that said i only play one or 2 games. Vail Vr is tuff!!!
My most played games are Noita and the binding of isaac. I don't have a vr game i want to spend thousands of hours in yet. The closest for replayability for me is beatsaber. I own almost 300 vr games on pc and i absolutely love a lot of them but for some reason after i spend 5, 10, 20 hours i'm done and i go back to noita. Headset wise it feels like for me the oculus and meta headsets have been the best option but i will probably spend the money to get the samsung moohan or the lalve deckard i'm not sure yet.
im really looking into buying a vr headset right now, do you guys think its still worth it or is it just a waste of money at this point?

tbh vr is not really interesting for me anymore i was really excited about it for a few months when i got a headset but then it started slowly dying out and now i use it maybe like once per a month i just prefer normal games because the vr games are not as good as non vr games
Playstation has vr but you need a PS5 to run the current model headset. Valve is about to release new models. Meta Has made so much money mainly because they've been able to make it easier for people to get into VR. And PSVR is so much better. Nobody gets it because it's so expensive.
Sony enterprise vr headset is for companies, of course no one's gonna buy it, it's not intended for average customer.
And most vr games are not even talked about anymore

A lot of it to me comes down to what they do with the platform and how the companies run the industries. Not going to say Apple do a fantastic job either, but Meta have made terrible decisions, can include:
- Priorities being set wrong with billions spent on productivity and metaverse projects (failed).
- Pushing out virtual purchases only to rob it away from them
- While on this note I could also mention the unfairness of shutdown games and development studios (including the vr esport game I used to play).
So when it comes to “dominating the industry”, Meta have been doing very unfair practices to get to this stage, which as an example, buying most popular vr game dev companies, and not producing games or completely shutting them down (for Meta’s personal benefit). It’s wrong, and there are many reasons Meta can be valued much lower than something like Apple in this scenario.
