    I didn't like it. It's close to Harman curve i guess. It kills the treble and muffles the bass.

    I've been using this software since its release and have been impressed with the compensation curves based on age and gender. you can also trim or boost the bass response as well as boost or flatten the curve

      Which genders did they include in the software? It's very important that we know this.

    I live by Sonarworks Systemwide. It not only improves headphone frequency response/neutrality, but it is also fascinating to play with. You can make AKG headphones sound like Sennheisers, and vice versa. It's like getting a chance to try new headphones out! Oh, and it stops my Focal Elear from sounding bleak.

    so my AirPods can sound like Focal Utopia?

      Hi-Fi Insider its basically reversing the response to produce a flat curve. Technically if both uses the software it would sound somewhat similar with of course a poorer resolution on the airpods.

    Used the Reference 4 Systemwide with the Focal Elears which made a tremendous improvement. Especially liked the tonal shift option. The headphone selection is very lacking though.

    I don't get it. So you choose the headphones you want to sound like? or the headphones you have? If choose the headphones I have, how am I going to sound like others? Am I not just going to sound like the ones I have?

    If the adjustments compensated for the listeners own hearing like Samsungs Adapt Sound then that would be even better!

    This is basically the golden ears app.

    I have the true fi app on pc and it's good for having a reference to relay on, but it doesn't compensate the resonances of the headphones making them sound fatiguing or unnatural sometimes.

    I hate these guys! Now I'll have to pay 80€ for their software... I can't listen to my m40x anymore without their compensation... and I know what will happen next, I will have to send my headphones for individual calibration eventually, which is 100€...

      Massdrop Sennheiser 6xx (200), Audio-Technica ATH-M40x (100). The M40x has great soundstage, and if you think they’re a bit muffled/treble-shy, the ear pads have two layers in them. I just cut out one per side and they’re much better IMHO.

    I don’t get the mission of this software. Is it to mimic the sound of a better set of headphones on a cheaper set of headphones?

    • @TheRealDuckofDeath
      @TheRealDuckofDeath 6 років тому +2

      Yes, it's basically a sound profile that compensates for known (tested?) shortcomings on specific headphone models.
      Samsung phones actually has something similar built-in, called Adapt Sound. Though Samsung is maybe taking it in a different direction by having the software adapt to your specific hearing. You use a sound calibration utility in the phone to have it adapt to your specific hearing and whatever damages you have on your ears. I'm not a young guy so I know I obviously have pretty damaged hearing, and I notice a massive shift in tonality and balance using that software. I'm generally not using Sound Alive though, as it does have some minor annoying shortcomings, like the lowest usable volume becoming way too high at night time and it does seem to add a bit of noise/distortion.

      Hi Ali - all what Hans says - and may I add that it´s originally made for pro musicians that use headphones for mix and mastering. I for example is a semi pro producer that can´t blast out high volume music at night where I live so I rely on headphones which are very hard/difficult to mix on. Many of them does not translate very well to speakers and the real world so to speak - and in that "making music game" - its all about if it can translate to other speakers and systems - and thats what Sonarwork make the different headphones do. I dont have their software or products just yet since Im about to change most of my gear that is too old for their software now - but when im getting a new soundcard for my new Mac Im there and will purchase Sonarworks. Several of my friends is using Sonarworks with great success. By the way ....Im danish just like Hans who answered you must be :-). best regards Johnny

    So what do you think of the target curve they use ?

    • @bananacat1591
      @bananacat1591 6 років тому

      I just looked into it and you can try it out on their website:
      www.sonarworks.com/truefi
      They also have a studio version that is less v-shaped:
      www.sonarworks.com/reference#player
      Seems pretty good to me

      @bananacat1591 6 років тому

      In the app can you adjust more than just the "Age" and "Bass" sliders for the target curve or are you limited to just those?

    • @serban2139
      @serban2139 6 років тому

      cocothemooncat no. You can't tinker with it. The premium product is the same as the free trial.

      cocothemooncat got it for 50% off, otherwise it's too pricey.

    its a gimmick if you're using a good DAC and amp; it's not making a difference but if you're not then it might be considered but still is just an eq setting that costs way to much everyone can do there eq setting by themselves but these guys seem to be using some equipment to determine what the eq should be and asking way too much for essentially just a setting just like anay othere hi fi gymmick
