Sorry to hear you don't care for trials in a book. Personally, if they're done well, I adore them. Also, that 10 years of her life is making me think of the four kids each giving a year of their life to save their friend Pip in The Halloween Tree. Obviously very different demographic, but as a story device it grabbed me and I'm in.
I read Phantasma so fast! I don’t love trials, but I LOVE this book! I wanted the end to be a little more heartbreaking, but that’s my toxic trait. 😅
