@@juliemcdaniel499 The artists you listed did shape the musical landscape in the 80's as well. My point about Tears For Fears is that they were pioneers when it came to New Wave during the 80's.
@@xoxxobob61 they did for me personally. I just entered my 20’s when they came out and their music stayed with me the rest of my life. Saw them thirty years ago. Got tickets to see them this summer.
80s was the greatest decade for music. All genres, bands, groups, all colors, music crossed color lines. We danced and sang to everything! Keep on listening, fellas,!!
Absolutely. Popular music today is really homogenous. In the 80's, you could turn on the radio and hear Michael Jackson, Huey Lewis and the News, Madonna, Prince, Duran Duran, Run DMC, Whitney Houston, Phil Collins, Van Halen, Beastie Boys, Simply Red and Bon Jovi over the course of a couple of hours. Tons of variety, inventive music -- today it all sounds mass produced.
Tear for Fears is still a great group. Head over heels, everybody wants to rule the world, just to name a couple but I’m glad y’all reviewed this. I love how y’all just sat and let the song soak in and not stop every 10 seconds like a lot of people do. Great song and great review
Oh YES! An 80's decade staple that takes me back to MTV, Atari, VCRs, records, cassette tapes, pay phones, legendary TV shows, big hair, bright clothes, playing outside, and the list goes on! Thank you!
This is one of my favorites. Everybody wants to Rule the World, my favorite song. The music is wonderful! One song runs into the next on the original album, these guys are real musicians. They have new music out now.😍
Hey there, I'm a Battle too. Do you have any relatives in Birmingham? Anyway, tell us more about their new music please, because I thought I heard a couple years back they retired. And yes, this entire album was amazing.
I came here and wanted to say the same thing. "Woman In Chains" was one of their best 'protest' songs and one of the first in memory to confront abuse of women. Give it a listen! (the guest appearance by Oleta Adams is both powerful and legendary).
This song is so epic. It is the battle cry of young adult angst in the 80's. I remember buying a brand new CD stereo system in the early 90's and this is the first song I played, at full blast, just to break it in. Classic.
Well said....I related deeply to this song, and this band, as a 20-something, and still find it to be completely relevant. We had a lot to be angsty about then....we do now, too, as older adults.
Gen X felt this song so deeply. We were seeing all the injustice and hatred around us, in the world our grandparents and parent gave us, and we couldn't do more than just resist. This was an anthem for us. We endured to slow the horrible machine the world became. Then we raised our kids to start fighting back. Now YOUR generation is burning it all down to try to start a better world.
I'm so reflective right now, remembering how angry but free I felt, at this time when I was 18. I went to sleep to their music every night. I've been so fortunate to have seen them 4 times and gotten to meet and hang out with Roland 3 of those times. He's one of the most fascinating humans to ever be here.
You both reacted to another song by Tears For Fears called Everybody Wants To Rule The World...Shout is from the same album....both are great great songs. Please react to the song True by Spandau Ballet....another awesome song! You guys are great..thank you for making so many people's days better!.
@@lauramalek3128 Indeed...but I won't lie, Sowing The Seeds Of Love was about as great of a follow up album as you can ask for. They are a huge part of why the 80's tops all other decades in my opinion.
The first Tears For Fears song remember hearing was "Pale Shelter." It's still my fav. Intense. I saw them live at a private event in Boston maybe 15 years ago, acoustic. So good.
Ah, the anthems of my youth. This was HUGE when I was 16-17 years old. I wore this CD OUT. Check out some others from them - Everybody Wants to Rule the World was their first big hit, but there are fantastic lesser-known songs. Sowing the Seeds of Love, the Hurting, Mad World, Pale Shelter, Start of the Breakdown, Head over Heels.
They're coming out with a new album this year. Songs from the Big Chair came out when I was in high school. Still love them & their music! It's iconic ❤
Tears For Fears is one of my all time favorite groups! I’m even going to their concert this June! You guys definitely need to listen to more of their songs! The 80’s was THE best decade of music EVER hands down!!!!
This group is still relevant even in today’s times. The just released their first LP in 17 years and it’s doing quite well. They’re touring this summer! Sow some seeds of love!🌻 ☮️ 🎶

TEARS FOR FEARS!!! My first Live Band experience in 1985...Absolutely love Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith. I still listen to them and they're still creating great music...Roland's guitar solo is EPIC!!!
Tears for Fears are a Eighties British band from Bath, England! Roland is lead singer on this song but Curt led on their mega-hit, Everybody Wants To Rule World. I love both of their voices! I loved the eighties!❤️❤️

They’re actually on tour this summer. Still together or at least back together. They had a few good albums with an incredible range of stuff - some reminiscent of trippier Beatles’ stuff too. “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” is a must be them - many people consider it a “perfect” pop song.
Tears For Fears just released a new album, and they are as good as ever. The hits they had in the US are just the tip of the iceberg of their amazing body of work.
