Extremely happy that two complex shapes came together and locked up like a dream. After making some adjustments, I've got that cover singing just like a song.
That really does look great! Making it out of steel was the right choice. And with it on the hinges, being a little heavy shouldn't be too noticeable. And I see that you're already well ahead of my comment on your post about the hinge, with locating some appropriate "concealed hinges". (For anyone who's curious, look up Guden Concealed Hinges; the Guden page has a nice little animation showing how the hinges work.)
For the last few days I have had this image of a hinge I had seen somewhere. I couldn't remember if it was at my previous career or something in my collection. I check out Guden Concealed Hinges and those are what I have seen somewhere! Very cool. The ones I made are square, however. The original hinges used on the B-36 were made by (ACH) American Cabinet Hardware Corp. out of Rockford IL.
That looks fantastic! You are an amazing craftsman
Looks great. Yeah, Vacuforming is pretty easy but REALLY time consuming to just produce 1 part
Looking really good!
Was it just me or were you very happy? It does look pretty good. It's coming along just nicely. Keep up the fantastic work.
