    The first thing I thought was Medusa from the Greek Mythology, that's why I clicked the video. But I like this one too

    The old lady was like a spirit who did not know that she had already died. She wanders around the ruins of the sunken ship, bewildered by what she was seeing because that was not the reality she knew.
    When she saw the jellyfish, she was terrified because she did not know they were the "spirits" of the other passengers. It seemed that the spirits were waiting for her to understand that she had already died. But the lady did not know that because she thought she was still making her way to the ball room where her husband, the old man with the watch, was waiting patiently for her.
    The jellyfish led her to a magical glass that showed her what truly happened to make her realize that it is time to go. When the old lady turned, she saw the jellyfish form of her husband because she seemed to have recognized him and touched him.
    The knowledge of her passing turned her into a jellyfish, and she was finally reunited and liberated with her beloved who had waited always for her in life and in death.

    For those who dong understand, a ship sunk to the bottom of the ocean, and everyone that died became jellyfish except for her. When she remembers everything, she turns around a touches a jellyfish ( which was actually her husband) and she become one and they both swim away together.

    She was alone, stuck in her tragedy. Then the others came, and she had to face the truth, accept it, change herself to move on. She muted and after that she wasn't alone anymore.

      Jellyfish- Scientific name: Medusozoa (Sub-phylum, not only limited to jellyfish)
      As you can guess, the name is akin to that of Medusa the gorgon from greek mythology. Think harder please.

    If you're wandering why is the name of the film "medusa's ball", its because the one who translated the original name didn't know how to translate properly; Here's the true translation: *The prom of the jellyfish* or _The jellyfish's dance_

    • @TheNotverysocial
      @TheNotverysocial 3 роки тому

      That and the scientific name, like most, is Latin. And most languages where it's the same primarily derive from Latin, which no one but priests speak anymore.

  • @cybroxis

    For anyone that doesn't understand, this is a story of how a jellyfish (a "medusa") tripped so hard on some acid that it believed it was human. Then its homies reminded it that it was, in fact, just a stupid jellyfish and they all just went on doing boring jellyfish shit.

    my thought process during this video:
    "okay... she walking underwater..."
    "weird shinies leading her somewhere..."
    "Pretty sunken ballroom~"
    "F*** you jellyfish!!!"
    "the what? is this some kind of through the looking Glass shiz?"
    "Hello sir, how's the party?"
    "DON'T TOUCH IT!!!"
    "She... became... a... ... eh???"
    *video ends*
    "I still don't get it."
    *few minutes later*
    "OOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHH! I gets it now"

    When I first saw the ship at the start I was like oh that ship must be the Titanic

    • @RikkaP
      @RikkaP 9 років тому +3

      Kira Taylor-Scott I tend to think there was a lot of inspiration going on. But this ship sank quite a different way, very fast and I'm under the impression that the ballroom was filled with corals, so it probably sank in tropical (or at least subtropical) seas... That, and the Titanic broke in 2.

    • @shionrasenka
      @shionrasenka 8 років тому +5

      Rikka Piko I am a Titanic buff myself, and yes, the Titanic definitely broke in two, while this ship sank whole. From what we see in the ballroom scene, the ship seems to capsize and sink because of a 'monster wave', not from striking anything like the Titanic did. I believe the creator drew inspiration from the story of the Titanic and used it as the base for this amazing film.
      All in all, this was a beautiful short film that told a just as beautiful story. The amount of detail and the stunning colors were fantastic! The animation was also superb!

    • @RikkaP
      @RikkaP 8 років тому +2

      Ture. I am also quite happy that this ship was placed in a more pleasing, interesting habitate then the northern Atlantic. Those medusas are wonderful (well, they might have been in pretty much any climate, but the other wildlife is very tropical and therefore more charming in my eyes.) Also the light/ water looks very different from the videos I saw on more northern seas (or my experience there, but I never went diving)- the water is clear and the light bright. Storywise the tsunami- like breaker works much better for this work- she didn't have the time to reach her husband. Even though "Gentlemen, it has been an honour to play with you tonight" is heartbreaking in another story, but this is not it. I love this short.

    She was on a cruise with her husband and the ship sank. She felt bad about leaving her husband waiting. That's why she didn't leave the wrecked ship like the others did. She woke up, forgetting about everything. She's still a ghost and she's trying to figure out who she is and why she's here. She remembered everything when she touches the mirror and responded to her husband's summon. The Jellyfish symbolises their souls
