This album comes after a big hiatus for these guys. They all went through different stages after the 'fame' got to them. Not in the typical sense, but in the supply and demand sense. Everyone was pushing them to be more commercial, to give out stuff that people 'wanted' as if they didn't get popular by already doing that naturally. Beacon was the hardest album for them -- they began to hate each other and go through some crazy emotions, addictions and otherwise. They took a hiatus and got back together now, and realized that the marketing, the expectations, all of that were contributing to a mutual loss of vision. This album is them coming back to center and calling out the corrupt marketing mindset of the music world, and the advertising world in general. There should be no control over art, and this song is calling that out completely. :) I am happy to see them backkk.

Been listening to these guys since I was in my early 20s. I'm 36 now. I've seen then once with my baby brother who passed away in 2017. Best show ever. About to see them again soon! I am so excited. I know my brother will be there with me in spirit.
I came here because I saw them at Lollapalooza. They blew up my mind, I wasn't prepared for that. I only had heard two songs of them (Undercover Martyn, and What You Know), so, when they played this song, and many others from the Gameshow album, I knew that they will become one of my favourite bands. Thank you Two Door Cinema Club, you gave me one of the best shows of my life.
Ein I Don't Know lmao when I pressed it.’it said the song time on the right of the left of the screen where it shows how long you’ve watched the vid has been playing for 11:56:09
I think it's about (false) advertising rather than about "companies devouring our lives". I mean, without your phone made by "companies devouring our lives" you wouldn't even be able to watch this video on a video platform by a "company devouring our lives".
@ayoutubeuser7613 innovation existed long before the profit motive. In recent years profit seeking has arguably stunted innovation as companies invest in what is 'safe' instead of what pushes us forward.
For anyone who doesn’t understand the message of the video and song, it’s just about how advertising is deceiving and makes you believe things about the product that aren’t true. They lie and take your money. It also covers how ads want to make you feel good about yourself like “you’re wonderful” and so on, so that you’d buy more of the product. A powerful message and executed really well.
Everyone's acting like the video's super hard to understand... It's simple, it's about advertising and consumerism. Alex and the band were a part of it all, but now he's tearing off his mask.
I first heard it on the radio while checking out the first pages of the Forever Free comic (The Forever War sequel). I wasn't really paying attention to the lyrics, but the song and the comic got strongly connected in my head because of the timing. When i searched it having read the comic, and saw the video to it, it just occured to me how good of a match it was. In both of them humanity is losing what it is, be it to consumerism or a hive-like conciousness. Now I'm gonna be stuck with this associacion forever.

It is about consumerism. They are singing about how companies are trying to sell you stuff that you do not actually need. (Not about war or any other kind of crap like that)

+notblue21 I was obsessed with Are You Ready once it first came out and I still am 😂 Same for Mistake, you have to check out their EP! It's amazing. You should check out Jung Joonyoung as well, the lead singer. His music's unbelievable!
+notblue21 That's exactly what happened with me! Their EP has two songs that are almost better than Mistake, you'll love them! And yes, his solo stuff's amazing and I listen to them all literally everyday, his ballads like Sympathy (please check it out!) really show just how talented he is with his voice. And yessss TDCC are actually my number 1 favorite band, no matter what genre I switch to I'll always listen to them 💕 K-indie's great, you should check out The Koxx and The Solutions! They're also one of my favorites. :)
notblue21 You'll seriously love them! Your ears are going to be blessed by JJY's voice no joke lol. I've loved tdcc since tourist history and when they finally came back after their hiatus I lost it, I missed them sooo much!! My favorite album's Beacon though, it's seriously so beautiful. I haven't listened to the rest of their new songs yet, so that's my opinion for now. Yesss The Koxx are amazing! The Solutions are probably my tops, I absolutely love their style, their recent comeback is all I've been listening to for the past 3 weeks! Thank you sooo much for the recommendations! I recently discovered Nell though, so so excited for their comeback! I'll check out the rest, thank you!

I am old. Like really old... i've heard a lot but this song is so f**king good that i simply know no other. I thank youTDCC for this song and other also ;E
He’s around 25 in the video but he looks 50. alex (red suit) seems the same too. for the video they put like 10 layers of makeup so they look more like the characters they imagined.
The best song in a spectacular FIFA 17 soundtrack.

'There's always something else just waiting on the shelf.' This song has a lot of deep messages about our society.
Spicy, medium, or chunky. They get a choice, of course. Of course! But they are buying salsa.
I don't know why but I really like the video. It's so disturbing, cringey, cool and fantastic at the same time
I thought I was the only one who thought that. lol
Allicea sums it up perfectly :)
Allicea indeed. Its mix feeling about the video , you hate and sometime you feel its genius.
feel exactly the same!
It looks it's from the 70s

This song gives me serious Shins vibes for some reason, less what I’m used to thinking of as Two Door but still absolutely love it!
Fifa 17 vibes🖤🖤🖤
Isso me trás uma nostálgica tão grande na época da minha adolescência. Umas das minhas músicas favoritas do Fifa 17. Infelizmente hoje é só saudades dessa época😪

A good message. We are not consumers. We are people.
Sam Halliday (green suit) is creepy in this music video. Creepy in a good way, can’t take my eyes off him, dude played this role well.
He’s around 25 in the video but he looks 50. alex (red suit) seems the same too. for the video they put like 10 layers of makeup so they look more like the characters they imagined.
